Working here was by far the worst work experience I had ever had. The Dr's are kind and the patients are extremely appreciative of all you do for them whether it be big or small. You get to create long lasting impressions on these patients and get to learn who they are as people, that part of the job is extremely rewarding. But other than that, there is nothing that would ever have me recommend this place to anyone. The management is absolutely awful, co workers are rude and dismissive of concerns, over all they are grown adults who love to bully others for their own satisfaction. Oh and don't try reporting anything to HR because that would look bad on the office and how they handle things, voicing your concerns and issues does nothing but make they want to help even less. Leaving the patients was the only thing I feel kept me there for as long as I was. The pay was decent and the time off was always a plus. It is a mentally straining job already and then you add bullying from coworkers and management and it absolutely puts you in the most depressive mindset of your life, not a single person besides the Dr's and nurse made me feel appreciated or cared for. The last 6 months I was there they did nothing but push me out the door, highly DO NOT recommend working for this company!!

When I joined the company, I was drawn to its values of family, integrity, quality, and community. I fully aligned with these principles and entered the role with the expectation that they would be reflected not only in client care but also in how staff were supported. While I found great purpose in serving clients and contributing to the well-being of the community, over time, I experienced a disconnect between these values and the day-to-day work environment.
Despite consistently prioritizing quality care and maintaining professional integrity, I was repeatedly placed under pressure to meet documentation demands without being provided adequate time or support. This became especially apparent when returning from approved family-related leave, when I was regularly met with overwhelming backlogs and urgent administrative expectations. These patterns created strain and made it difficult to sustain the level of care and commitment I expect from myself and those I work alongside.

Ultimately, while the mission and values resonated with me, the lack of follow-through in key areas of operational support led to a shift in my expectations and contributed to my departure.

What is the best part of working at the company?
The company actually cares about you and gives you tons of room for growth. I love the volunteer work and community outreach. All different positions for all different personalities 

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
Being patient and understanding to the people we take care of. They are not used to people actually helping them and treating them like people. Sometimes it's easy to lose patience with them because of the bond and attachment you develop for each person 

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
Busy. Supervisors really appreciate when you take initiative and show you care. 

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
I deal with all the medical needs of 90 people. Vitals. Bloodwork. Ekgs. Drug screens. Dental needs. Clothing needs. Transportation and Care coordination for each patient. I also am in charge of orientation for new patients and I oversee the PCAs for the clinical team.

OVP Health corporate is disconnected from the offices.  There is little communication from corporate, and a culture of secrecy and fear has been promoted.  There is a strong sense of favoritism, and staff often feel that their jobs are not stable.  OVP often engages in double talk where HR will discuss wellness and self-care yet intentionally create policies that make it difficult to practice self-care.  OVP offers, at the start, two weeks of PTO to be used for vacation or when sick. When employees are ill, they are often guilted into coming to work sick or working telehealth.  This does not allow employees the time they need to recover.  Furthermore, having sick employees working in a healthcare office is counterintuitive and puts clients at risk.  The work is rewarding, and the clients are amazing; unfortunately, the corruption at the corporate level makes this a difficult place to work and leads to the loss of good employees.

OVP Rehabilitation in Southpoint OH will pay you the “average pay” for you job title with little to no room for promotion. They are understaffed and overwhelmed. With usually 3-4 nurse, 1-2 lab techs, and 1 security Guards per 90 clients in the day time; And 2-3 nurses, 1-2 lab tech, and 1 security Guard at night per 90 patients. Security guards are not trained! They only official certification We had was a 10 min CPR online course. Security has to fend for themselves as OVP has a hands-off policy meaning “security cannot lay hands on a client NO MATTER WHAT.” So if a client coming down off a substance attacks another client, staff, or security we are not allowed to defend ourselves.

I love the job that I do and the patients I work with but the stability is not there and the upper management makes decisions without speaking to lower management and they change your job description without notice. Say you’re hired for one job that you applied for but then they totally change your job description as they want and I went from LOVING my job to dreading what was next and the unknown of what else they’ll change without notice. The pay is awful $12/hour to do many many jobs! Not to mention I go above and beyond my job expectations. Do not see a potential for moving up at all. Job feels very unstable 

The most enjoyable part of the job is of course the patients and the freedom you are given in doing the job. Overall, the company is a good company to work for but there are problems. The documentation process has gotten to be burdensome where it has to pass through so many hands to be submitted. The right hand does not know what the left hand is doing and communication is often overlooked. Management does not communicate well and expectations are not clear. The workplace culture is positive but there is often a disconnect between counseling and medical. Maintaining paperwork has become the hardest part of the job where clinicians are having to complete the paperwork at home.

Job security and advancement
In terms of job security at OVP Health, if they like you you should be okay but if they don’t watch out!  From what I’ve seen and experienced there, employees that are unqualified and aren’t billable (COST the company money)  have more job security than ones that are qualified and bringing in money.

Management
Poor, unqualified supervisors that don’t have a clue what they are doing, talks to employees about other employees, will agree with everyone to their face to avoid having to do their job, stir up office drama more than anyone else.

Overall
HORRIBLE

This company cares nothing about its employees or their patients. All they care about is money. They will accept patients who are not appropriate just to make money off them. They care nothing about you as an employee and when you beg them to stop giving you impossible work loads they tell you a bunch of lies and then nothing changes. They are now offering more money and sign on bonus because they can’t keep staff. They will also ask you to do sketchy stuff and if you question it they act like it no big deal. Don’t risk you license by working for this company bc they will throw you under the bus no doubt. 

What is the best part of working at the company?
The feeling of helping others, and the great friend ships you make with people working there.

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
Long hours, short staff for client pool.

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
The culture was that of family , healing and acceptance, but twords the end of my time there it felt more profit driven, more about filling beds less about patient care.

Clock in do rounds and ensure safety and compliance of residents and staff.
