I come from places where you think you're a "family" and the highs are great but the lows are filled with drama and crazy toxicity... most offices are a dysfunctional family if you ask me. So far, this has been more just professional atmosphere, where we're not telling jokes and being loud all day long, but just putting our head down and be successful. No one screams at you or comes down hard on you. Everything is more a conversation, and it may be a tough convo but it is always respectful. I've seen 3 people move up in different departments, including 1 going from paralegal to attorney here and another become a supervisor of a department. I think they are honorable managers that just tell you what is expected and if you are down to work hard, you can meet your professional goals.

Many of my friends have shared horror stories of how their bosses handled the pandemic. Many lost their jobs or were scared to go to work, if they were lucky enough not to get fired. I saw here how they were always ahead of things, from moving to remote work early on, then making the appropriate changes for distancing and all that. Not only did no one that I know of get laid off but many of us got our year end bonuses and raises and they did all they could to make sure we were taken care of. I believe they have the best interests of us in mind and they want to generally do good by people and clients. I hope to continuing growing here. 

I told my friends that now that I am in law school and also learning business at the same time, I totally understand the culture change that Oakwood went through. They did their best to find better employees, who are hard working and good people. They really improved efficiencies and held people accountable and I loved that. It was tough to be there during all the changes but it was for the better. A lot of former co workers thought they are owed the job or owed the paycheck and can just sleepwalk through work. I'm glad by the time I left for law school this offices were filled with people who took pride in themselves and in their work and wanted to good for their own well being.

We are working in a really collegial environment. The management treats us all equally and with respect. Each one of us feels like a valuable member of the company. My skills and confidence have improved greatly since I started working here. I gained some amazing experience which helped me grow as a professional and improve my skills and knowledge. Nothing can replace the first-hand experience I got here when working with our clients. It’s truly been a pleasure working with legal team and I’ve learned a lot.

What is the best part of working at the company?
Office lacks proper management. The partners, specifically the litigating ones, lack basic respect for their employees . Be prepared for daily, unprovoked insults and slurs. 
Otherwise, it’s an ok place to work 

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
You can give 110%, and still get called names and get belittled. 

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
Overall staff lacks professionalism, so does the handling trial attorney. Be prepared and know how to deal with it professionally. 

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
Come in, work, work more, clock out.

High regards to professional lawyers and coworkers who make the entire workday fun. I earn a lot experience while learning in an extremely rewarding work environment. In addition, I get to expand my network in the industry. Good reward system and people work with dedication and integrity. I am always proud to be part of this company. Lots of experienced mentors. Good training ground for freshers or those with little experience. 

Well run law firm that has figured out how to grow without losing sight of structure and employee growth. They seem to give as much thought to internal policies as they do to running the law firm. It’s nice to see employers and managers that make an effort. It’s not always peaches and cream but I don’t think anywhere really is or can be. If I wasn’t moving back home I’d probably end my career with Oakwood Legal Group.
