The company had just opened this new floor in the building a few months before I started my job. It is very well kept clean. The Rn's and other Techs were very friendly and inviting, However a few of the Nursing Superviors and other unit coordinators were in "clicks" . For example: I am a fast-paced type person. Ive been a STNA for 7 years+, so with that being said, when I started the role of a UC we had a lot of down time. In this time I would complete projects for HR, the managers, etc., clean up the nursing station (organizing, wiping of counters/keyboards/etc.), and make up charts so that when patients were admitted we could just grab a chart and start on it instead of going through files and getting all the paperwork together, etc. The other UC didn't like me doing this because in her downtime she liked to socialize, etc and management had to keep asking her to "be productive" like I was. She was very good friends with a few of the Nursing Supervisors and they would talk about me on my days off (a few of the nurses and techs would tell me what was said). It got to the point where the supervisor would be really mean to me and a new UC that I had trained. These certain supervisors would ask something to be done and then report to the Nursing Administrator all the things we were doing "wrong" in their eyes. When we confronted the nursing administrator and the HR nothing was done. This went on for a few months. The last time we reported it, my co-worker ended up quitting due to the amount of stress it was causing while trying to do her job. I stuck it out for a few more months and finally ended up resigning due to the fact that it was only getting worse and no one would do anything about it.

At the beginning when I was hired, everything was great. Everyone was nice, welcoming and always said hi. Over the past two years of working there, that drastically declined and I hated coming into work. The staff was cliquey (feels like high school because EVERYONE gossips there), had favorites, and sometimes really rude. Since I worked over in the therapy gym, I was overseen by three bosses in that department. Let me tell me you, they absolutely have no empathy for their employees and really aren't all that nice as they are made out to be. They will dock you and give you "points" for no reason (even if a family member has died - they will count that against you) and your schedule isn't flexible at all!! The therapists in the gym have favorites and only ask the therapy aides that they favor to help them out. If you do decide to work here, there is one therapist that you have to watch out for in particular - she will go and tell lies about you to your boss and the bosses are very one sided and won't believe you! As far as pay, if you are PRN - you are suppose to be getting paid more since they are not providing you with benefits. Well fun fact - you don't get paid anymore than the full time staff do (and they get benefits). You'll do so much work for such little pay!! Do yourself a favor and DO NOT WORK HERE!! Save yourself the time and energy and work for a different hospital or company that will value you SO MUCH MORE!! I can't even put into words how gross the hospital is either. Not very clean and the food isn't good either (they had shark one time as an entree for lunch????). The most enjoyable part of the job was getting to leave at the end of the day. 

I worked here for nearly 3 years, it started off pretty good until all the management changes started happening and staffing got even worse. First they will hire techs with zero experience or creditials who have zero idea what theyre doing.. second, the turn over rate for techs and nursing is ABSURD. Sometimes I'd see them hire 7 techs and by the end of the month 5 or 6 were gone. This led to being horribly understaffed. Due to this, I as an RT was constantly pulled from the floor to be a sitter for TBI patients. There was zero training involved in this. I was expected to do something that was far from my job description and was often sat outside multiple rooms to watch multiple brain injury patients. On top of that, drama was outrageous. I had a problem with being harassed by a co-worker at and outside of work and it took management over a YEAR to do something about it. This eventually caused ever RT they had on staff to leave at the same time. Leaving here was the best decision I ever made for my career. Less drama, better atmosphere, and better pay with more opportunity.

Working for OHRH was like being trauma bonded to a bad ex - I thought I would never find anything “better” as a therapist in healthcare, despite me working countless hours over time, working tons of weekends and holidays with no incentive pay, and sometimes working up to 12-14 days in a row with no day off due to short staff. Leaving was the best thing I did for myself - as upper management had little to no concerns for my personal well being nor my patients quality of care. I enjoyed my coworkers and personal management - but working there drained me entirely mentally and physically (and this is someone who absolutely loves IPR). I never knew what a reasonable job in healthcare was like until u left OHRH and received significantly better benefits, time off, flexibility in my schedule, and more. 

On a typical day, the RN will have 7-8 patients, pass medications, educate patients on rehab goals and safety, provide nursing care, perform assessments and chart them.
I learned how to manage my time efficiently and also developed excellent communication skills with patients and family members.
The management was standard.  Nurses have to be very independent with problem solving and learning how to work with minimal supplies.
The hardest part of the job was when other nurses would call-off of work.  
The most enjoyable part of the job is the patients.  It is very exciting and rewarding being a part of their rehab process and helping them to overcome new barriers because of their diagnosis.

As a Respiratory Therapist, unless you are ready for a Very slow pace, I would suggest to not consider path. It is very slow and there are days where you go an entire 12 hour shift and literally do 15 minutes of productive work. Makes for a very long day no matter how good the pay.  I learned that I cannot work at such a slow pace. The management is great in more ways I can mention. Very diverse workplace culture and everyone is very respectful and welcoming . The hardest part of the job for me was making it through a 12 hour shift doing nothing, it's very mentally  challenging. I enjoyed the patients and coworkers.

Management is terrible and toxic. They don't care about the people who work there. They treat the staff awful you never know if your going to get wrote up or walked out from one day to the next especialy if a superviser doesn't like you. The supervisers don't help even when you ask for it and they gossip about people constandly. The CNO never comes out of there office to see or to talk to staff. The HR person is terrible to staff that go to her for help and then gossips about what is told to other people. This is not a good place to work for people that want to be treated like they matter.

What is the best part of working at the company?
Coworkers. Feeling of unity trying to improve patient ratios.

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
Corporate expectations at times not realistic. 

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
Good working relationship with coworkers.
Does try to be open to various cultures. 


What is a typical day like for you at the company?
Understaffed. No time to take lunch. Often took only  break at around 4 to eat food. Felt no matter how hard I worked or organized my work I was behind the eight ball.

When I first started here, it was a decent place to work I was coming from a nursing home so this was refreshingly to me. But over time I seen more and more why the turnover rate was so high. The management here is absolutely the WORST! We have a CEO that you barely see, you have a CNO that is just downright horrible and never here. And we can never keep any staff. This place definitely needs some new management that actually care about their staff and not just the money. The only bright side to this place is the people you meet here are wonderful. 

Culture is hostile and management does not acknowledge this. Physicians rude or upset at lack of staffing which results in anger directed at staff which should be directed at conversations with management.  High turnover of all type of staff, nursing related at the top. Violent outbursts and threats of violence or total lies about other staff if not liked. I  would  not go back again. Their pay is within reason but you pay with the high ratios and negative culture.
