I began my journey with OneWell Health Care in July of 2023 as a Direct Support Professional (DSP), and I couldn’t be more grateful for the opportunity. From day one, I felt welcomed into a supportive and inclusive environment where both the individuals we serve and employees are valued. What I truly appreciate about OneWell is the emphasis on personal and professional growth. I was promoted not once, but three times, and I feel that each step has allowed me to develop new skills, take on more responsibility, and make a bigger impact. My current role as the Training Department Manager has been an incredibly fulfilling and challenging experience. I’m able to help shape the future of our staff by providing them with the tools and training they need to succeed in their roles, just as I was supported along my own journey.

A typical day involved clocking in and out through an app upon arriving and leaving the client’s home, followed by entering daily care notes in a separate system. The technology was straightforward, and I appreciated the consistency of weekly pay.

However, I found that many clients primarily wanted housekeeping services rather than personal care, which made it difficult to apply my healthcare skills. While the company initially suggested that caregivers could choose which clients to accept, the decision often relied on outdated care plans and brief meet-and-greets that didn’t fully reflect the client’s needs or behaviors.

In my experience, once you’re matched with a client, it’s extremely difficult to switch—even when the working environment becomes unsafe or emotionally taxing. I felt there was a lack of support from management in these situations, and that significantly impacted my sense of well-being at work.

Although the ability to select clients and receive weekly pay are positives, the lack of updated care information and limited flexibility once assigned to a client made the role frustrating. It may not be the best fit for someone looking for hands-on healthcare experience or a supportive management structure.



Every day, I get the chance to support individuals who rely on compassion, structure, and patience. I’ve learned how to stay calm in challenging situations, advocate for the people I care for, and celebrate their progress. The work can be emotionally demanding at times, but the connections you build make it worth it. Helping someone reach a goal, feel understood, or simply have a good day reminds you why this job matters. I truly value the impact I get to make and the growth this role has given me. 

The office I currently work for is out of Cranberry Township, PA. All the Program Specialist I’ve had the pleasure of working under have been supportive, knowledgeable and reliable leaders. My Program Specialist’s have been dependable and communicative. They provide clear direction, responds quickly, and treats staff with respect. The leadership has made a positive impact on our team and on the quality of care we provide!

Working wiyh adults in the IDD community is a demanding but very rewarding job. Each day you are 100 hands on and seeing the growth from clients is why I do my job .my manager is very fair , kind and thorough . I work one on one with each client independently in their setting whether it be their home or a place around town thst they request or will enjoy to learn the life skills decided upon after completing the assessment. Hardest part is how demanding it is of all your resources . You drive a lot!!!most enjoyable is working with clients and their families snd seeing the growth in the assessment goal areas
You need to be patient and understanding and educate yourself about the IDD community. All IDD clients are unique and do will your experience with them
The pay is ok could be more especially since the job is 100 hands on and. You give your entire self to the job

What is the best part of working at the company?
The pro’s of working for this company is the client ( children). Its not there fault that their parents are ungrateful for what you do for their sick child everyday. 

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
That the company does not pay you on time and that they lie to you alot about anything related to the case just to tell you something so they don’t have to talk with you. You call HR or text them snd never get a response back. 

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
The environment is stressful and disorganized. because they will tell you one thing and a few days later it’s different. 

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
Its Repetitive job you do the same thing every day, but having to deal with the parents is where the stress comes in because you never know what they’re gonna end up doing so you gotta watch back at all times

My experience had both positives and challenges. I enjoyed my coworkers, and the mission of the organization is meaningful. However, the workload for the recruitment team was extremely heavy, with only two recruiters responsible for all hiring across the entire state. Expectations and processes changed frequently, often without notice or additional support, which made it difficult to keep up with the volume.

Communication from leadership was inconsistent, and there was a pattern of placing blame on individual employees rather than addressing larger structural issues. This created a stressful environment where expectations did not match the resources or the number of hours available in the day.

There is strong potential here with the right support, clearer communication, and realistic workload distribution. With better structure and collaboration, the team could thrive.


A typical day at OneWell Health Care is busy, purposeful, and centered on supporting our teams. As an HR Manager, I handle employee needs, hiring, and daily coordination to keep operations running smoothly. I’ve learned a great deal about effective communication, problem-solving, and building a supportive environment in a fast-paced healthcare setting.
Management is approachable, encouraging, and open to new ideas, which creates a strong sense of trust. Our workplace culture is positive, team-focused, and driven by respect and compassion for both staff and patients.
The hardest part of the job is managing the constant pace and adapting to changing needs within the healthcare field. However, the most enjoyable part is watching employees grow, succeed, and feel appreciated. Knowing that my work contributes to a supportive team and excellent patient care makes each day meaningful.

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
The total lack of support from superiors that are focused on the bottom line rather than fulfilling the promises made to clients in order to get them to sign with us over another company 

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
In CA it is not great. Many unpleasant conversations just to get the bare minimum for our clients. I cannot stress enough how bad the culture is.

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
Go to the office with the other supervisors and listen to them gossip and talk about everything other than their caseloads and helping clients. Our main job is to sign up new clients and not to follow through with the quality treatment we tell them they will receive.
