There are pros and cons to working at this facility. The pros: the staff are helpful and friendly. The unit manager is amazing. I am not trying to knock the company off I just want to inform others what occured when I worked there. First off, 3-11 shift is one of the hardest shifts to work at. During my interview process I was told that there would be 3 nurses but when I was on the floor, it was a different story. I was suppose to have 3 days of training. The first day was shadowing the nurse, second day I come in, I was told that a nurse called off so I had to go on the floor, there was only 2 nurses that day including me and she was fairly new. There is alot of responsibility for the nurse. I did not take a break because I had a heavy med pass, on top of that when I thought I was done, I had to do skin checks, treatments, call dr, document. For four days straight I did not like working there, I try to maintain a posite attitude. My feet was aching from the physical demand. I do not feel this is nursing.  It is absolutely absurd to have this much responsibility on just one nurse with 20-30 patients and they pay you very low. The DON was unapologetic when I told her how disorganized this company is. To my fellow nurses, please protect your nursing license, there are better places to work beside this company. I personally think if there wasn't much of a change over of staff and provide more nurses/Cna's on the 3-11 shift then there would not be a problem. For example,  if a nurse called off, they should call other nurses, if that doesn't work they should call an agency. They did not do that when I was there. Also I don't understand why there is always 3 nurses on the morning shift but the afternoon shift it's a hit or miss. I think that's just wrong.

Honestly, I don't even know where to begin. The pay is not competitive for nurses in comparison to ALL other facilities of the same type. It's hard to hire nurses and hard to keep them there. There's a high turnover rate for nurses because the low pay is not worth the amount of tasks you are expected to complete. Other facilities tend to have a supervisor on each shift, an admissions nurse (or a supervisor or manager designated to put in orders etc for admissions), and a wound care nurse. Coquina does not have that. Two nurses after 3pm to split 3 halls and have admissions coming in on top of that with the expectation of putting everything in the system is just not humanly possible. Lack of breaks, lack of lunches, no higher up for support when needed. Patients getting neglected due to nurses being overwhelmed which is what truly bothers me. I believe that if they raised the pay rate and staff 3 nurses on 7-3 and 3-11 then it would be a step in the right direction to bring nurses in and keep them there. I tried to recruit friends to come apply and when they heard what my base pay was they said they make $4-5 more so it would not be worth it.

I worked in the dietary department for almost 6 months everything was going smoothly and well people are friendly they make the time go by fast it's very detailed work and everybody works as a team unfortunately a lot of the older colleagues do not like to show up on time or like to answer their phones when they are late there are multiple problems with management and especially the management being hired if you don't get your job done on time you will not even be able to take a break I remember there were several weeks where I could not take a break and I would have to go through the day working which caused a lot of frustration the job is very Cutthroat management always abandon their positions to meetings and mostly the time they aren't available so Administration has to come and step in and pretty much do their job for them. I could admit that it a lot of stress to the point where it is affected my personal life. I could go on about this job but I really don't have the time and I really don't think that indeed has a lot of space on this website to even express anyting to that particular fashioned. I give this place two stars I give them the second star out of pity

Since I started working here years ago, the company was in a good place. We were fully staffed most days. Always had supplies to provide great care... such as towels, wash cloths or even cleansing soap. Now we are always under staff usually 10-12 patients per CNA. There’s no good communication is among team members.No team work unless you are close to someone.  Someone is always gossip about something. Most nurses are lazy here... they run to you to do simple things they could and should have done them selfs. For instance, a patient will ask for water. The nurse will walk about looking for you. Interrupt you will you’re proving care to someone else, just to tell you so & so needs water. The nurse could have simple went and got Water for the patient. 
Pay could be better and flex members don’t get benefits.. not even shift differential. It’s not a happy environment if only management of even the administrator would listen to CNAs. We are the one who work physically with the patients here. Nurse honestly only pass medication, do bandages and do a lil more documentation. We do the hard work and get treated as if we aren’t the heart of their company. 

working at opis was okay the management was okay my pay was low i worked doubles and triples and i ended up getting lied on and fired because of my boss they said i never contacted them about my lack of transport was told to come to work clock in start my morning schedule and was called into the office and told to leave. i had no ride back home which was 30 mins away and told i wasn't allowed on the property i had no phone to contact my husband until about 3 hours later when the front desk got a call from my husband about my transport back home that night after my shift was over. i sat out in the hot sun with nothing for 3 hours. when i started at opis i was excited and couldn't wait to start but after working there for about 2 years i wanted to leave. i hated going into work. especially when i bent over backwards for that company. gave up my life i put my family on hold im very happy that i dont work for opis anymore i miss it but im happy i dont work there anymore.

This is the most awful, dirty facility!  The management, nurse's, & cna's are jealous, petty, trailer park trash, & hood rats. If there are issues between staff members management will side with whomever has the most statements written by other staff members, they don't consider looking at the whole situation.  Way too much gossip!  Had cna's drop a patient out of a hoyer lift breaking both femur bones, the family sued, & those same unsafe, unethical, & incompetent staff members are still there!  Couldn't tell you how many law suits they've had because of this, you begin to lose count. At 1st they treat you well because they want you to stay, but that quickly changes.  The nurse's are done with their med pass in 30 minutes when it takes 3 hours if you're doing your job correctly.  If you have ethics & value your license this is not a place to work!

I did not have a good experience working here. The DON that I  interviewed with was amazing and assured me that flexibility was an option. Well, when she was replaced, I feel like everything changed. Some of the CNA's spoke another language and would walk around speaking in their native tongue, even in the customer's room, which I thought was unprofessional. We worked short almost every single day, especially the weekends, and that team was not respectful to newbies at all. If a customer in your set had an appt, you were expected to go, even if your unit was already short. The nurses on my unit were great, but you could tell that they were really stressed out and overwhelmed. UM barely came to the floor. Just felt like a hostile environment most days and the CNA's didn't believe in teamwork. It was a fend for yourself type of place. I loved the customers that I had in my set and still think about them every day when I drive by.

This company believes in coach people into good behavior... well that doesn't always work! There are too many staff members that are late everyday, or call out or are no call/no show and they are not held accountable, therefore creating a domino affect that spreads to the other staff members and causes animosity in the work place!

Non-skilled workers who work hard should be compensated as if they have a trade of some sort because they work harder than those who have a trade but tend to be lazy.

Also the hiring process takes way too long and the wrong people somehow seem to get through the cracks anyways... so you might as well save the money you spend on this lengthy process and use it to pay better wages to those that deserve it!

The most enjoyable part about working for Opis Island Lake in Longwood was my coworkers, some of the cute little residents and clocking out to go home. This place is a dumpster just like the rest of the facilities so if you apply here, don't expect things to be different.  You will find a short supply for things that you need to provide care to residents such as soap and washcloths and you will be highly overworked and overwhelmed for the little bit of money that you're paid. The pay does not compensate for the harassment from many of the managers. I'm not saying that you shouldn't apply here. I'm simply saying that you need to keep your expectations low and keep other employment options open. 

My first position was Laundry Aide, I washed, dryed, folded, and put away the linen. This job was a bit challenging. It may seem like it's not much to do, but it was. The CNA's would need certain things, and if they didn't have enough they would come back to get it. Which made it diffucult because then I would have to triple the work on top of everything that needed to be done. I learned that, I need to have more patience. This job has really helped me learn that. The second job I held was housekeeping. I actually enjoyed that more than laundry. Some people might find it odd, but I do enjoy cleaning. Personally, if I do the job I know it will be clean. The most enjoyable part of my job was to see the elders. I worked at a nursing care facility. I really liked to talk to them, I know that it made their day better. And that to me is very rewarding.
