When I joined  Optimal Care Services  I was looking for an agency that valued children and families.  Also one that connected with the communities that it served.  Optimal Care Services fits that bill.   It is thrilling witnessing students grow in their confidence and parents moved to tears when they see their children meeting their goals.    If you are a lifelong learner Optimal Care Services is a place where you can grow, regardless of your position.  If you feel you have already "arrived" this will not be the right fit for you.  Our goal is to ensure that children and families are valued and respected.  I learn so much from our administrative team, SEITS, partner schools, families, students, and district administrators.   We have a dream that children will not be defined by their learning differences. Instead, these future leaders will pave the way. They will help shape and redefine the world we live in.  This dream will become reality through our commitment to those we serve.  Knowing that we are part of something bigger than ourselves is the best reward.

What is the best part of working at the company?
There is no micromanagement, support is always available and pay is ALWAYS on time.

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
The only stress I experienced was self-imposed when I did not stay current with required session notes. 

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
My position was strictly in the field, and never required office visits or physical check-ins, so this question really is not applicable to my experience  working there.  The interactions I had were by phone  with supervisors or support staff 
and were always problem-free. In-office staff worked hard to resolve any issues brought to their attention by phone or email.

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
A typical day provided me with a wonderful sense of independence and autonomy because  I was out in the field, providing services to my clients, with no need to check-in with the office.

What is the best part of working at the company?
Owner micro manages every aspect of your job. Company states a remote position but can only work from your home address. Puts very little trust in his employees. Quick to criticize and little to praise. No appreciation for working overtime and no compensation given. Stay away.... To much paperwork given to teachers. Not flexible with time. 

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
Owner tracks your time on his website. If he thinks you are not working on line, he will call you to see what you are doing. There is a lack of trust  that you are  actually doing your job.

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
It is tense. There is lack of support.

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
Mostly reading, writing reports on the computer, reading and responding to emails, spending 10  hrs a day on the computer almost 6-7 days a week.   Providing direct support to teachers and school personnel.

Work for Optimal and you will never leave because at OPTIMAL you feel appreciated, the supervisors are supportive and your work is valued (you get summer bonuses/incentives, a yearly hourly pay increase and health insurance and 401K if you are a FULL-time employee. If you want to become a SEIT start here, great place to be and the CEO was a SEIT so he fully understands the SEIT's needs and he can address those needs because he has an open door policy and is always available because he cares about his employees. I left the agency because I wanted to transition from working with pre-schoolers to working with middle-schoolers but I know if I ever wanted to go back, I know the owner will always have me back with open arms!!

As a former classroom teacher, I wanted a profession where I could pursue my passion for impactful education while maintaining a flexible schedule. Working at Optimal as a SEIT has given me that and more!  I travel to schools close to my own neighborhood and creatively work towards the IEP goals of my students. My supervisor is very supportive, encouraging and always available. The company offers great benefits for their full time staff and there are workshops and SEIT support group sessions with valuable tools and skills to use in the field. 

What is the best part of working at the company?
Set own schedule. Very well paid compared to most other agencies 

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
Shuffling schedule to maintain hours. No fault of company. Students are out randomly so you have to adjust to still get your time worked

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
Easy to approach supervisors. Plenty of training opportunities. 

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
Casework during the day and then session notes to end the day.

A typical day working at OCS consists of supporting teachers with their direct instruction, reporting, and collaborating with school personnel and families. We build and maintain close relationships with CPSE in order to serve as many children as possible. I have been able to learn valuable skills as an admin through support from management and having a strong team of supervisors to work together with. OCS has a large network of teachers with an office staff that does a wonderful job providing professional development for continued growth. 

I have been a SEIT for almost 20 years and I've had moments of wanting to leave the field. This past summer I learned about Optimal Care Services and decided to apply. It has been exactly the change of pace that I needed.

Over the years I have worked for many agencies and when taking on cases with a new company I'm always concerned about administration and paperwork. The change to OCS has been smooth:

They are an agency for SEITs for preschool students. Teachers go to the preschools to work with students on their goals. You may go to more than 1 location in a day. They have plenty of work to give you. You are required to write daily contact notes. reach out to teachers and service providers twice a month, create the IEP (this is new), and write progress reports on your students 3 times a year. The agency also provides very information professional development. You only have benefits if you are full time.

While the SEIT role itself can be challenging at times, there’s a lot of support at OCS. Between prompt responses from admin staff, supervisors always making time to speak and troubleshoot, and all of the workshops and PDs, there’s help when you need it, without micromanaging. In my experience, all correspondence has been professional, positive, and understanding which makes me feel respected and valued. OCS seems to always be thinking of ways to improve the SEIT experience and it is very appreciated!
