I decided to leave my previous position due to several reasons. Firstly, I had issues with my supervisor, who would frequently belittle me and negatively criticize my performance. Additionally, my supervisor would often question my knowledge and skills, even for basic tasks, simply because I asked questions. I was still in TRAINING. I didn't reach my 90 day probational period. I reached out to my colleagues in other regions and discovered that their supervisors did not behave in the same manner. They were understanding and empathetic, acknowledging the learning curve associated with the job. If you don't get her you are lucky. I have heard bad things about this supervisor from other staff, So beware. Furthermore,  While it was a relief to have a supportive HR department, I believe that the supervisors in this company need better training in effective supervision styles.

Furthermore, as a coordinator, I had to upload my work to two different websites, and failure to do so would result in negative consequences. Additionally, the pay structure was not stable, as it was based on units and commission rather than a fixed hourly rate. In comparison to my previous job where I earned $19.75 per hour, this position offered less compensation. Moreover, there was no reimbursement for mileage unless the distance traveled exceeded 30 miles, which was different from my previous job where the entire mileage was covered. Overall, the work environment in this company was toxic.

If you are someone who enjoys challenges and is willing to forgo paid holidays, this position may be suitable for you. However, it is important to consider the aforementioned drawbacks before making a decision.

I've been with Optimal for just under a year and I could not be HAPPIER!! I love my clients and the relationships I've built with them and it really doesn't feel like a job, more like I get paid to hang out with clients   that need medical care and I am lucky to be their nurse and provide their care. I always thought WMHS was the best place to work in Cumberland and was extremely nervous about starting in home care and it was the best decision of my life. Unlike WMHS my manager and the staff at Optimal are extremely friendly, helpful, available to reach any time I've needed with quick response, and make me feel valued as an employee. At WMHS the clinics manager was joke and allows her favorites to be lazy, incoherent, breach HIPPA, and bully new staff. With Optimal my job skills and performance actually matter as that should be top priority working in healthcare. I HIGHLY recommend working for Optimal as I personally feel accepting the position has been the best decision I ever made. The impact that working in Home Health has made in my is unbelievable, this is what I became a nurse for and I can't imagine ever looking back. With that being said the "Cons" I listed below do suck but considering how much I make hourly and the fact I love my jobs, the "Pros" definitely outweigh the "Cons."

When I was first hired I was led to believe things would be a certain way and I was excited. While going through training I found that wasnt the case. At all. I felt kind of tricked into taking the position but the one trainer helped relieve some of that anxiety. After training is when it made a turn for the worst. I dont get the support I need from my superiors and im often told to just go look through my resources or sign up for a “buddy session” so that some other CCS can help me instead. My supervisor just gives me weekly lists of things to do and sends me on my way and expects it to be done seamlessly. Recently they changed the pay structure. They increased hourly pay but also made it tremendously difficult to even make 40 hours per week. Overtime is nearly impossible to get anymore and you cant even work overtime unless it’s for a reason they think is good enough. All administrative tasks are even nickled and dimed and they act like your lying when you input it for payment. There also isnt compensation for travel time except mileage but they deduct 30 miles per day from all travel. Upper management decided to make every department complete a time study without any additional compensation even though their presence in the flow of everyday life for CCSs would have given them all the answers they needed. All in all I am just ashamed. The position does provide a good work/life balance in being able to schedule your own meetings and work from home most of the time but that doesnt make up for the amount of work that needs to be done to achieve 40 hours of pay and support my family. I thought this was a stand up company and was led to believe I’d be paid correctly. It was all a lie. 

My experience with this company revealed a culture driven more by corporate profit and internal politics than by genuine support for its employees. During a period when I was coping with two major personal losses and a divorce in rapid succession, I made understandable human mistakes. Instead of empathy or guidance, I was met with accusations and pressure that felt targeted and unfair.
From the start, I noticed troubling patterns: high termination rates, warnings from coworkers, and a pervasive culture of gossip. Leadership—specifically the Western Region Directors
—placed disproportionate weight on minor issues that could have been resolved through routine QA or compliance updates.
It was clear they were behind, and rather than collaborating, they shifted blame onto a woman navigating profound grief.
Over time, this eroded my voice, confidence, and professional identity. I was even referred to as a "baby" by my manager, despite being 38 with prior case management experience—an unprofessional and dismissive behavior that contributed to a hostile environment.
Even at the holiday event, individuals I had never met made comments implying I was being discussed or should "watch out" for termination. These interactions reinforced the sense that gossip and fear were prioritized over respect and collaboration.
This environment was neither supportive nor aligned with my values. For that reason, I chose to leave without providing the typical notice. I am grateful to move forward toward healthier, more professional opportunities.

When I first started working for OHC it was a nice place and a place where thought management cared about your advancement and training. Now it’s a bunch of wolves in sheep’s clothing. Make sure you keep all communication in writing. They will say one thing and do another. I’ve never worked for a company where you have to defend everything you do from putting time in months before the day you are supposed to go on vacation to why you decided to not coordinate a meeting on one day versus another. If you decide to work here please cover your butt and don’t let anyone in management say okay I got you because they don’t. They continuously talk about communication but management only communicates whit you when they need to USE you for something. You’re not a valued employee you’re a tool to be used when the supervisor doesn’t want to carry a caseload. They will have you do work and say it’s not billable, but will continue to say it needs to be done. However the State doesn’t need these things to approve a plan. All I can say is watch your own back and don’t believe anything that comes out of managements mouth when it comes to career advancement. I suggest stay here get the experience rank up on overtime to increase your savings and take that experience like everyone else and go to a place that appreciates you and what you bring to the workplace. 

Please be cautious of this company. The turn over in staff is terrible. When your interviewing everything seems great, as a matter of fact too good to be true,( listen to that little voice and gut feeling ) because once you're hired the real mess starts to   surface like missing time from your paycheck,  policy's changing constantly, yet no policy in place for real issues, poor training, poor follow through, poor management, poor Adminstration, lack of concern, patients care below par and disconcern.  Management turns into a real nightmare and then runs  staff  off very quickly.  As a nurse I would not want  my license jeopardized by  an agency.   Please check out the nurses you are working with and assistant directors license at MBON because YOU ALWAYS want to know who your working with so you can practice safely and feel comfortable. I personally think that a company should be responsible enough to check these things and not put other nurses in this position but the fact is you need to be due diligent. Also the environment is very cut throat, and intense.  The pay is always quoted much higher than they actually pay. Always double check your paychecks and vacation time. Overtime is never paid. Raises never happen. Job security is also a real issue here.  Don't let this agency ruin it for other agencies their are good ones out there this one is just not it.

I have been a caregiver for years but I have never seen a company is so much disarray. I tried to stay for my client but I just couldn't. My client ended up leaving as well because she was fed up with the changes. First she lost the nurse she loved, then they changed her schedule, they haven't been out to do a nurse visit, new nurse won't return calls.  It's unacceptable, disorganized,  the office is tense, the pay is below par. You are expected to drive clients but not get paid.  It's a huge liability for $10 and hour. They call you at all hours to confirm hours, not sure why because I clock in and out. They make you run to the office constantly to sign this or that or have mandatory meeting in which you ARE NOT paid for. It's just not worth it. I paid more money in gas, transportation and vehicle repairs than what I ended up making.  Mgmt doesn't care about anything about the people who make them money were all replaceable I've been quoted.  All areas in this field pays more than this place so look around. Don't let this place ruin your love for Healthcare, a great nurse once said this to me, I miss her!

I worked at this company as a nurse and I wouldn't suggest this company to any NURSE. The place is very unorganized an unstructured. I was asked to do things that went against my nursing license. I witnessed a constant breach of HIPAA.  My paycheck was always incorrect.  Administration was a mess policy always changed or were bent in situations which made it very difficult. When they get audits they make the nurses and caregivers run to the office and sign papers that they "forgot" to have you sign leaving the client without services, your paycheck short because your not paid to run to the office 20x unexpected at the last minute driving sometime 30 minutes one way. Then your expected to make up the time you missed.  Nurse have eorked with out licenses and cpr cards only to be caight when an audit came about. Scary. What kind of company does this? The kind  so of company that gets fined everytime the commission come because of wrong doing. It's not the kind of place you want your license attached to. It's not worth it nurses.

I have appreciated the opportunity to move from an entry level position into management. The executive management demonstrates great care and concern towards their staff, with a sincerely open door policy, profit sharing to reward and acknowledge our hard work, and a willingness to hear and include employee opinions and ideas in policy. No business will do everything perfectly, it is always an evolving process to improve, but my faith in this agency comes from the willingness to admit and correct mistakes as well as the dedicated effort to do the very best they can for staff and clients. High quality of service and integrity matter here, and we are all expected to have open discussions about ideas and concerns with supervisors. That openness is highly valued as a team builder. I am always impressed by the supervisors who immediately jump in and assist with any client needs as a way to ensure care and safety. Just a good place to work and grow in your field.

I manage a home in Walkersville where we employ RNs and LPNs to care for two medically fragile, developmentally disabled young adults. This is a warm and friendly home environment, well organized, well supported and professional. We expect the same level of performance from nurses that they would provide in a hospital regarding the care, documentation of care and personal integrity.  We attempt to communicate this through our extensive training program.  We also strive to provide a schedule that works for the nurse and we do guarantee the hours.  We enjoy working with Optimal Health Care Inc. as they are supportive and pay the nurses well and on time. This case has worked well for over 25 years as evidenced by the fact that the patient have not been hospitalized in many years and we have some staff with longevity of 5, 10 and 20 years. We recognize it is not a case for every nurse and hope this has not caused undue stress for those it was not a good fit.
