Working at Larson Davis as a student was great. They were able to provide me with a great schedule and were super flexible and encouraging to focus on your school work. The work itself is very easy and doesn't add to the stress as a student. Even the medical insurance is great. 

The work itself is very easy. You can listen to music/podcasts/audiobooks and get your work done without any issue assuming your technically inclined. The work is very repetitive and unless your a favorited production worker from the Engineer department you'll rarely see or do anything new.

However, don't expect to receive completive pay or to receive a fair raise each year.  Raises are contingent on a 1 to 5 star rating system and management is strongly encouraged to never hand out a 5 star review (exceeds expectation). Even if you are able to provide specific examples and fulfilled responsibilities that exceed your job description throughout the year, they will give verbal appreciation but down play your efforts as to not give you the 5 star rating.

You should also beware if something goes wrong in the company. Management is quick to place blame. If it saves someone hire up from being reprimanded, they wont hesitate to toss your name at the issue and report you to corporate. Even if you are able to prove you were not at fault per their policies. 

As a production worker you are at the bottom of the totem pole and unless you have a degree or have 10+ years in the department you wont move up the ladder.

What is the best part of working at the company?
The people you work with happen to be some of the best i've ever spent time with. I can't speak for every department, some people didn't have it as good as I did.

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
Supervisors are under constant scrutiny from serior leadership, and everything rolls down hill onto the technicians. The good old PCB-ways died when MTS acquired and died some-more when Amphenol acquired.

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
It's a sit down and get what you can but give us all you can and let it be the best you can do. But if things go sideways, they don't flip out. It's controlled yet relaxed until it's amended then it's get it done n how fast can you train people to help you! Their answer is always more people instead of putting the correct employee(s) on the work order. 

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
Stop what you're doing and go start this... then when you couldn't complete new task they would try to have someone else complete that task, usually a senior technician that came to the same conclusion the original technician came too. That was frustrating for both techs, wasting time is a common tactic supervision uses to make it look legit. Most supervisors cannot be bench techs... not all, again there are a few really really good supervisors that can throw down on the bench.

If you are okay being treated like garbage and underpaid this job is for you.
The nepotism and toxic culture is reinforced.
Management has their favorites if you aren't one of them good luck.
Management rules with delusions of grandeur.
As a family run company, they were excellent, but now that they are publicly owned, the culture and togetherness has left.
The department manager is a pushover/joke with no back bone.
I dreaded going to work every day.
They say there is profit sharing, but you will probably never see it. If you do, it is something like 1%.
Management does not listen to minimum wage workers.
Poor management, people treated as commodity.
Older management makes them less open to new ideas.
Nothing short of a good old boys network. It is like a revolving door there and stability means nothing to them. The most what have you done for me lately company you will ever find. They have no consideration for you or family. You DO NOT want to work here!
The Company does not promote from within very often. They pay for your health care and that is there reasoning for your low.pay.

Pros: Company pays weekly health insurance premiums

Cons:
- excessive pre-employement exam
- low pay
- no set pay for departments/new hires
- long hours
- tell you last minute if you need to come in early/stay late/come in on a day off
- will ask you to work most holidays even though the company allows you to have off
- little PTO for new hires. It is in one lump. You are given "points" for any call offs at all, but it is taken from PTO
- if you punch in minute late, you are given a point and are not paid until the 15 min mark. Punch in up to 14 minutes early and aren't paid for it
- no vision or dental. Poor health insurance
- no 401k match

- a severe lack of space
- logistics has a lot of gossip/whispering/backstabbing. Even the supervisor does it.
- lack of transparency from management
- can be very stressful
- Too much of the job is tribal knowledge. No set way of doing some things or way to find out without asking. Lack of training

Pretty much was just a basic M-F job. The pay was horrible. I was making 9.75 as an assembler. I took a calibration tech job which bumped me up to 10.25/hr. But every time I went to learn the new role, they would shove me back into the old one. My manager got fired due to not knowing his job. Me and my "team leader" were always arguing. Got to the point where we would just wear head phones to ignore each other. Some people were rude, some were good. 

I haven't worked here in 7yrs, so maybe things have improved.. I know about 12 people who left their roles at PCB and went onto other things. 

Overall, if your looking for a basic M-F job this is the job for you. If your looking for advancement and goals, prob should look elsewhere, but again.. this is my opinion on the past.. maybe things have gotten better.

Overall, I wouldn't recommend it. The company covers the health insurance which they constantly use as their reasoning to not pay a reasonable amount. Management isn't held accountable. They will offer you a title and pay rate at the interview and when it comes time to sign they will backpedal. I've watched management demean their teams with no repercussions/or repercussions so mild that they continue with their poor behavior. Some departments are better than others, but I've heard similar complaints from most of them. You are always expected to work overtime, though they rarely say it's mandatory. All shifts have cliques, be prepared to feel like you never left high school. Best case scenario, you land a team with a few decent people and keep earbuds/headphones on while working. 

Great people, great place, love what i do. Total customer satisfaction is a core value of the company, it's fantastic. Only wish they'd offer 401k match and it'd be perfect (they currently give a 1x/yr payment which is a % of your salary depending how the company did that year). Recently expanded benefit packages so you can purchase dental, extra life insurance,  disability, etc. Standard healthcare is 100% paid by company which is unheard of these days! It's a large business but they still have small business traits- company wide lunches when we have a bookings or shipment record-month, annual employee appreciation picnic, and an gigantic holiday party. Building is a bit outdated and cramped, but they're about to expand with a new building and planning some upgrades soon.

My time at PCB was a great experience.As a production Tech I worked with a team setting . Sandblasting was my required field.I made training videos plus keep a high production rate 

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
Too me there where none.Sometimes you may have to stay over at last moment with no notice but that comes with the job.

It's a good environment getting to work with different people and different parts allowing you to grow.

My main goal was too my production goal.Enjoying my team sharing a laugh with friends

My experience with the HR department was negative. The environment felt cliquey and uncomfortable, and communication was often unclear. Additional responsibilities were expected that were not disclosed during the hiring process.

There was frequent gossip in the office, with leadership openly speaking negatively about employees and coworkers talking about one another behind their backs. This created an unprofessional and unpredictable atmosphere where you never knew what kind of environment you would be walking into each day. I strongly encourage candidates to ask detailed questions about expectations and workplace culture before accepting a position.

What is the best part of working at the company?
Some coworkers are great 40 hour work week health insurance sick time that came from vaca time and vaca time

Management and H R  do not expect the company to stand behind company values that they spew

Go into job as woke person with company first management first and you as individual have no opinion on personal boundaries

Go in do your job and others job you will be fine so slackers can continue to do nothing
