As a product development engineer, a typical day includes one where a person is exposed to nearly all facets of manufacturing engineering in ever changing order.  This can create a very turbulent flow of one's schedule unless you learn to truly organize all aspects of your day and prioritize the action items accordingly.  
The one biggest thing I have learned at PCC, besides the obvious manufacturing process, is the necessity to employ right to left thinking with all projects.  Any time lost during development is time that cannot typically be made up and thus it is critical to manage one's time efficiently and effectively in order to juggle multiple projects, design efforts, FEA analysis trial, etc. at once.
I have had the pleasure of working among a very bright group of coworkers.  I have garnered a great deal of knowledge from the senior staff and it seems that people are very willing to help if time permits.
The hardest part of the job is trying to create a healthy work and life balance.  This job is extremely demanding in terms of the time required to be at the facility (working from home is not an option) as well as emotionally draining as the daily grind of manufacturing and the push for product can take a toll on you.
The most enjoyable part of PCC and the Product Development position in particular is that you get to perform so many different engineering duties, that your daily routine will truly never become dull.  One minute you may be working on a new product design and altering the CAD model for rapid prototype manufacture, the next you are a modeling engineer performing an FEA simulation on the metal flow and thermal properties of the mold during cooling/soildification.  Being subject to all the different aspects of engineering has made me a very well rounded engineer.  I would highly recommend this job for new college grads as it will quickly teach you the ins and outs of not only manufacturing, time management and design but will also expose you to more engineering disciplines than you knew existed.

Worked here for 3 weeks. Had a previous job and relocated to work for this company. Was told during interview that they train if lacking in some areas. Decided to go ahead and take the move. Upon arriving were nice and helpful. Talking to employees in my work area was told that if i have a wife and kids (which i do) to kiss them goodbye because i was going to not ever see them again. I took it as a joke. Come to realize that it was the truth. Everyone was working around the clock. 12 hours on the weekday and about 10 on weekends. I was a bit overwhelmed considering upon hiring they told me i had to be ''flexible''. Employees laughed when I told them what the company said. They said, ''thats rather putting it loosely''! The company loves to push as employees. You work those long hours and at the end of the day get told that you still not meeting production productivity. Long story short they laid me off due to having to train me. Although the company said they were willing to and the level 3 said in about 2 months or so i would be good to go they were not willing to give me a shot. I was totally blindsided at the outcome. In short they told me the company needs someone available to go from the start and didnt want to spend any money training when they could just hire someone that they didnt have to train. Thats sounds legit and i could understand that if it wasnt for the fact that i quit my job to come and was told a few times they would train me up. Bottom line its a corporation. Your needs are secondary. Not only are your needs secondary they are unimportant, and if for some reason they feel they can cut or figure out a way to make more money in the expense of getting rid of a guy or 2 they will not hesitate to. So if you are perfect in your skill, willing to be ''flexible'', and can take a beating then you might do well if your plans are to grind it out for a year or 2 and stack some money.

I worked at pcc for almost 8years in those years I had 6 different shifts and 6 different general managers the work environment was terrible sanitation in the  bathrooms was the most fowl thing i have seen in my working career and targets where always changing at the last minute exspecely before the quarterly bonus where calculated general managers ruled with an iron fist and on multiple occasions threatened hourly employees with termination if caught not following there order's even if it means that the employees where unproductive or simply trying to stay busy the HR director didn't care about employees or there families employees who where terminated would show up to work (at 4 am) only to find that they where simply locked out of the building and where never informed of there termination until they called the hr manager who didn't show up to work until 7 am.  Also employees where asked to travel to California to work for two weeks with no additional compensation in pay and where 10 99 without adequate compensation for higher California tax also they where expected to pay out of pocket for all there food when they were there and upon returning home have to argue with hr managers about basic food expenses and what the company was going to pay for reimbursement took almost 3 weeks raises where the most pathetic I had ever seen 15 cents for an ok employee and 40 for a stellar employee.  On multiple occasions I witnessed employees who were at work visibly sick who were told you can go home but your going to get a demerit point. Such demerits where then used to deny raises or advancement 

I was hired as an Operations Supervisor for the company and shortly after starting work there I quickly realized why this opening had been posted.  Luckily, I was able to help out the employees and be the “middle man” between them and management.  I often took the chance to learn what the employees needed, liked about the company, and what could be done better.  Unfortunately, the responses were almost all rooted in the fact that management did not care about the employees and only cared about how much product was produced each day.  This statement not only came from production employees, but also mid-level managers.  Luckily, I was fortunate to not have this job as my ONLY source of income, that fact gave me some security in knowing that I could risk my position to better the environment for the employees.  If I did not have another source of income, I don’t think I would have been able to really see how other supervisors and managers simply “put their heads down and did the job”.  I was ultimately laid off during COVID-19 as I was the most recent hire, but I can’t help suspecting that it was a good excuse to get rid of a supervisor that tried to balance employee satisfaction and production value.

A typical day at work would be to show up on time and get to your machine. Complete all the safety checks and fill out logs. Get an assignment from the floor lead person. Do your work and watch others stand around and DO NOTHING except run their mouth and flirt. Bring up this issue to ALL managers and their response is "You have to pick your battles." Go back to the work floor to your workstation and watch everyone else laugh at you and then go back to chatter, flirting, and complaining. Now you're a hard-working snitch and a tool. That is the hardest part of the job: watching others do nothing but collect a paycheck every Friday while you're going insane trying to get the quarterly bonus above 5%. (Used to be easy 12-19%). Attend a weekly team meeting before lunch every Thursday and listen to managers pretend to be on your side with safety and team spirit. Most people that work here WILL TELL YOU how much they hate their job and the management team that seems to change every 6 months if not less.

PCC comes off as very professional and equal opportunity, but you have to fight tooth and nail to get the pay you deserve. They have absolutely NO structure for training, but expect you to get perfect quality product out the same way that people who have been working there for 20 years do. You are just a number here, and if you try to tell anyone in management how you feel, they will validate your feelings to your face and then do nothing about it. In one ear, out the other. They pick favorites, they keep you in the dark, and it just gets harder and harder to come to work everyday. The work is fun and the employees you work with on the floor are fun. If you don’t mind management not caring about your work life needs and how the company can improve then this place is for you. If you are a valuable team player who works hard to better yourself and the company in any way possible, takes passion in what you do and want people to appreciate you, communicates well, then this really isn’t a good fit for you. They won’t care. 

The company offers a genuinely strong work environment supported by competitive pay, making it an appealing place to build a long‑term career. Day‑to‑day interactions feel collaborative rather than transactional, and teams generally show a real commitment to helping one another succeed. What stands out most is the solid aerospace culture woven into the organization. There’s a shared sense of purpose around innovation, safety, and precision, and employees take pride in contributing to projects that have real impact. Leadership reinforces this culture by encouraging continuous learning and maintaining high standards without creating unnecessary pressure. While no workplace is perfect, the overall atmosphere is positive, professional, and grounded in mutual respect. For anyone who values stability, technical excellence, and a mission‑driven environment, this is a place where you can feel both challenged and supported.

Worked here for 3 years, got my start in welding there. The hours were brutal early on with mandatory overtime, they would pretty much tell you on a whim you were working 7 days a week back then. It turned into 13 days on 1 day off for a long time after that. 

Upper level management was unrealistic and overly demanding on a variety of topics, but some of the shift leads and such were awesome people. The place could be very cliquey and unproffesional in some regards. Younger employees not in the "circle" would be taken advantage of or used as scapegoat, while the in crowd had it on easy street. 

I have been on both sides of the coin there, overall it was okay though. Also when they get slow if youre not a top performer/ in crowd guy they will straight up lay you off or send you home for a month, but when they are busy again they will work you to death if you let them.

I had a great time while at PCC. I would greet customers and clients with a friendly face and call the appropriate fellow employee to escort them to the floor/offices. The most challenging part of my position was running the attendance and verifying that employees tardiness/absences were accounted for accurately. During my time at PCC, management changed twice and both showed two completely different management styles but both positively impacted the employees and company overall. This company was fantastic when throwing retirement BBQ's and any other fellow employee that wanted to attend was more than welcomed. If we hit our goals for the end of the month we would all get pizza and the days it hit 90 degrees or higher they would allow me to purchase freeze pops for the manufacturing floor. Overall I had a great time at PCC.

PCC is a good company if you do not have a life outside of work and have a great drive and desire to succeed. You must be self-motivated and able to learn quickly without training, have thick skin, and not consider integrity with customers high on your list. The benefits are great. The people are wonderful. The company is financially healthy and good. However, there are too many conflicting priorities and too much work / not enough people so the average work week is 60 hours or more. For hourly folks, this is a great benefit. However, it doesn't come without a price. This isn't for the faint of heart.
