I started working for them and a few days after working for them I had chest problems. THEY sent me to the hospital to get checked out where I found out I was type 2 diabetic (I have NEVER had any issues like that before). They gave me a paper, told me to have it signed to come back to work, I got it signed, but it stated I needed a follow up PRIOR to returning to work. I'm a veteran I HAVE to go to the VA, I don't have a choice as my wife and I are that strapped for cash. The VA made me go through the process to get a new doctor as my previous one had quit without warning. The entire time this was happening (the span of literally Monday night to Friday morning) I called them AS THEY TOLD ME TO 30 minutes before my shift to tell them (AS THEY HAD ASKED) that I had yet to receive an appointment from the VA. They told me everything was fine and to tell them when I was given an appointment. My wife's father had gotten angry with VA (by then as we had been ignored, hung up on, and pushed aside while trying to push the VA into giving me an appointment) so he paid for my doctors visit. I called and told them when the appointment was, had the papers signed, and went back to work SUNDAY NIGHT and they fired me as soon as I walked through the doors saying that I was taking a position someone else could've been working. If you're a veteran don't expect them to give a flip. Don't expect them to be understanding with the VA because clearly they don't care or understand the situations in the slightest. 

The company cares about maximum profits and production numbers, little else.  Benefits are basic health insurance and minimum vacation time plus option to buy chicken typical for poultry production/processing companies.  Rumors and drama are common as to be expected of an employer with that size workforce.  Pay is competitive in recent years due to competing for workers with another large processing facility in a small town.  Cleanliness and working conditions are average, at best, mainly due to overuse of chemicals in the baths used to keep chicken decontaminated and floors.  Management pushes workers and lines to work as quickly as possible with very few line stoppages, including after machine/equipment failures when it would be more efficient to let the lines be cleared of excess chicken before restarting.  Breaks include two thirty minute breaks during which includes the time you take OFF, put on PPE, or wait in line to trade out PPE which must be traded each break. 
 Essentially workers are just a replaceable body to fill a slot and worked as hard and long as possible with expectations at times being impossible to achieve. 

They may have you “defined” as a scalehouse operator, but expect you to clean the mill, operate bobcat/forklift, possibly learn to run the mill and/or dispatch, etc.. Basically, unless you’re maintenance, mill operator, or supervisor, you’re doing your job plus everyone else’s. Sometimes, maintenance and mill operator gets roped in. Low pay, long hours (12 hours), average week is 60+ hours (start Sunday evening-Friday evening) day shift usually has a little less. If the loads haven’t been finished by the end of the shift on Friday, night shift works until all loads are sent out and the mill is filled which puts you at anywhere from 65-72 hours. Management is laid back mostly. Not ALWAYS killing yourself but they don’t hesitate to make you the work horse. Don’t really recommend working here unless you just really need a job to pay the bills for the time being until you can find a better one. You can get raises by learning more things like running the mill or dispatching, but it’s honestly not worth it. It’s not the absolute worst job, but it’s not something I’d want to devote a career to. No family time, especially for night shift unless you want to stay up all day then try to stay up all night.

Use to be the job when i was yard dog. I got sick and from mersa and was forced back to work to soon. I was told my fmla ran out on 7/17/20 i made the drs. Let me go back on the 13. I had floaters in my eyes from haveing high fever and the heat made it worse, i was doing good i thought and the middle of 2nd week back i backed into a trailer at dock. Never had an accident in all me driveing  they sent me home and drug teated me. And few days later brought me back and put me back in plant as qa i have tried to get my yard dog job back with know luck. Qa is a good job and great people. 

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
We always work over there is no 4o hour weeks,very cold and not much home time. I leave at 3pm and dont get get home until anywhere from 3an to 5. If people cant work everyday from start of shift to we never know the énd of shift. But it will be 8 to12 hours every day  dont apple

Work environment cold and people are mostly good 

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
Clock in at 4:30 and you hope to clock out at 2am. But that very rarely happens

first off the application process they make you wait outside for a long period of time and if its raining or cold outside patience is a must if not you will get mad and want to cuss somebody out it could be 11 to 15 people applying on day shift you will fill out one sheet of paper they make you wait until lunchtime until you finally realize you've been there too long and that they are not hiring. The meat prep supervisor on morning shift is a snake she acts cool whenever you work for her but as time goes on you will realize that you hate her guts the environment was good there are some cool workers and in meat prep, you do not get many hours. It feels like they are unprofessional at least tell someone ahead of time that you are hiring or not stop wasting folks time with the bullcrap. it's always a crowd applying cause they need a job 9 times out 10 all of yall will end up leaving Peco foods in Canton jobless and feeling like you wasted your time then before you leave the have the nerve to tell you try again

My experience at PECO Foods was challenging due to a lack of communication and leadership consistency. There were no regular team meetings to discuss goals, changes, or workplace concerns, which often left employees uninformed. Hours were reduced without clear explanation or communication regarding the reason for the changes or any plan moving forward.

Management appeared inexperienced in addressing employee concerns and maintaining a positive work environment. The workplace culture often felt divided, with favoritism impacting morale and opportunities. Professionalism was inconsistent, and at times management practices felt more focused on intimidation than constructive leadership.

I believe the company would benefit from stronger communication, more transparent decision-making, regular team engagement, and leadership development that promotes fairness, accountability, and respect for all employees.

The pay is good for the area the insurance is good and affordable

Having to put up with the favoritism from management and they will lye to you lots of drama with co workers afraid to ask important questions about your job decayed supervisor will jump down your throat they only enforce Certain rules depending on who you are and make it very obvious

Just about the worst I have ever seen and this is not just a up set employee they have a high turnover rate and you here these complaints from just about everyone their

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
While working at PECO you will endure a lot of stress and drama. Everyday all day is the same thing never a good day.

I answer incoming calls, greet all visitors, handle all aspects of Human Resources-from posting all jobs, application process, orientation, benefit enrollment, increases and pay scale monitoring, address all employee issues and complaints, and assist employees with any insurance issues, paperwork or just general information. I handle all the HR for the Philadelphia MS location, Lake MS location and the New Hatchery location in Sebastopol MS. I also help clerical and salary with any insurance issues, vacations and/or leaves. Total of approximately 200 employees.

I also key all accounts payable invoices into the system, verify dues dates, cycles, gl numbers, and vendors. Balance all AP and send to corporate for payment.

I enjoy what I do with this company. However the only way my daughter can get a job with this company is for me to make a change. I love my job, but I love my family more.

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
They don't fully train you. I might have changed but people never stay because either they aren't cut for it or the management don't know how to speak to employees. I've seen many leave be a persons first time as a supervisor was a power trip. I know the job can be hard but when someone doesn't know how to speak professionally it becomes a problem. 

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
It's cool and has it's bad days. If they are short like normal then a bad day is normal. They do celebrate holidays and have events and things. Before the new construction they let different food trucks park at the plant. That was nice.

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
Go in knowing we probably will be short because it's been this way the last 6 months. Do my job.

I would not let my dog mess work at Peco Foods, Inc. A typical day at work for me working 3 different positions was like working in the cotton fields. What I learned working there was how to miss treat your fellow co-worker(s). I would work 40 hours per week and would not receive 40 on my check. I would NOT advise anyone to apply or work at Peco, you will only be there for 2-3 weeks before they fire you. They never go by the employment (policy) book, managers have their favorites. They workplace culture is not PROFESSIONAL at all. Not only was upper managers  bullies but their favorites were bullies also. The hardest part of the job was working with co-works, some not all. The most enjoyable part of the job was when the managers stayed in their cages. No e-verify is done on any new employee that is employed there.
