The premise of this job was good and very fulfilling. I actually loved the feeling of making a difference in peoples' lives.

A typical day started with coming in to the office to check out a company vehicle (may have to use your own as there were limited vehicles; mileage reimbursement was available and paid out monthly) which you put the correct car seat(s) in. You would then travel to pick up the child(ren) in placement and transport them to the visitation location with their parent(s)/family. Travel could be anywhere from 5 minutes to 3+ hours one way. Generally, the longer transports (2+ hours) were dedicated to an employee who was a designated driver. The FSW supervised and documented visitation between parent(s) and child(ren), providing feedback and parenting assistance as needed. Transport was provided to the return location then FSW returned to the office. Notes were required of every interaction (email, call, text, visitation, etc.) with all collateral parties. Time between visits was used for notes and documentation. 

There was no set schedule as visit availability was all over the board Sun-Sat, but generally hours were between 6 am and 9 pm. There was no say over the cases, travel, or hours you received - supervisor and scheduler determined your schedule and usually gave you notice ahead of time to prepare and introduce yourself to parents, foster, etc.. 

Benefits were reasonably priced and PTO was prorated ahead of time for the year. In order to get planned time off, you had to find coverage for your visits (from co-workers, case manager, or supervisor) or reschedule the visits, which could get difficult to do when you have multiple other cases/visits to do. There were times when you wouldn't get a full 40 hours a week due to constant changes in case load. Overtime is available, but can be hard to come by due to this.

Company wanted you to take a 30 min - 1 hour lunch daily, but sometimes it was hard to do. If you had a long transport then longer visit, you may have to eat with your family.

If you are considering an internship for your graduate-level hours, I would suggest against Professional Services Group. The staff was reasonably friendly, but there seemed to be much miscommunication amongst the staff. It was not organized. My supervisor did not allow me sit in on one-on-one sessions to gain a feel for how to run my own sessions. They mentioned that none of their clients were willing, although I was friendly with a few of their clients (via facilitating group sessions) and knew that was likely not the truth. Instead, I was thrown into seeing clients one-on-one w/o ever having seen an intake assessment. This was due to another therapist who was out on maternity leave. I did not feel that this was ethical, as clients were expecting a competent therapist, and I was a student in training with little to no guidance or supervision. My supervisor would have me run group sessions, which I actually quite enjoyed, although I felt like I was just free help for the company, instead of a graduate student learning necessary skills. I "winged-it" throughout the entire semester, and left feeling pretty dejected. I did not feel like I gained the necessary skills or knowledge regarding clinical mental health social work. What really sent me was the following semester the company had brought on many new interns, and they were able to sit in on one-on-one sessions from the get-go. I found out during supervision and felt pretty blighted. The company culture was quite poor, and a handful of the staff left rather abruptly during my tenure. The CEO did not introduce herself, not seek introductions when they ran my orientation. This company does not give off the vibe that they truly care about the mental health of their clients, it felt more focused on making money.

I didn’t even work here for long! They couldn’t locate a kid on my case load. They begged me to stay, but I barely worked there 2 weeks, so it wasn’t like I was a valued employee, they just needed a worker. 
The communication here is terrible! I rely heavily on email because I’m a student and I have another job. I don’t have time to constantly call people. They barely ever answered emails! And when they did answer back it wasn’t helpful. Or when they would just completely stop emailing you during important times when I needed them to continue contact with me. 
They expressed that the job would “eventually get easier” which is a terrible thing to say personally. It’s not the position that’s an issue, it was the complete lack of communication the supervisors had with each other and everyone else that works there. The companies they work with made it way harder, if those other companies worked better with PSG it would’ve been better. 
I like the idea of working with kids and helping out families but you don’t really get to do that with this company. All you do is sit there and watch families interact. You don’t help with resources or anything. 
Over all, I quit really quickly because my gut told me this was not a good fit for me! I didn’t want something that I loved to become something that I hated all because this of this company. 
Over all, they don’t pay you even close to enough for the amount of work you’re expected to do. I don’t like that they had me in charge of driving kids around between foster homes and their parents home. They don’t pay you for mileage or gas either. It’s nice as a part time job if you’re wanting a foot into social work but over all I would not recommend this place.  But, I will say that they have potential to do better.

Kenosha County Adult CCS-- PSG cares very little for their case managers and clients of their services. Employees are underpaid and overworked. Their goal is for csase managers to have high case loads and be very hands off to clients, which is nearly impossible in this role. There is no work life balance. This job will burn you out due to the amount of cases that struggle with severe mental illness ( that they refuse to switch back to CSP), high case loads, and their demand for high productivity (almost 100%). Their main concern is trying to get good numbers for opening cases and look profitable for the first year that they are taking over CCS. They see their service facilitators as nothing more than billable hours and refuse to allow them any down time. Its almost impossible to keep up with paperwork yet they refuse overtime. Many case workers dont take lunch or breaks, or work unpaid to get everything done. This is a very unhealthy work environment-- avoid if you care about your mental health at all or are looking for a long term position. Attempts to address issues result in solutions such as "schedule better" or "you can do it". For the field that PSG is in, it's really disappointing that they don't care more about the wellbeing of people. 

First off, my fellow entry level team were my only real and reliable support. I am very happy I had them otherwise I probably would had left the company sooner. 
In PSG if you don't have connections with various staff, ie management, and you're joining as an entry level clinician/pursuing licensure, the company as a whole is a struggle to work with long term. I struggled with lack of leadership/guidance in various areas and when these concerns were expressed toward various staff, they were not addressed/resolved until after I chose to resign. Also, "flexibility" is a fun way to say...you have to be available 24/7 along with handle various client scenarios without proper training or guidance for these crises. If you are pursuing licensure/comprehensive entry level clinical experience, I would not recommend PSG as it stands currently.

While PSG may seem inviting at first as they will hire without requiring experience it is not worth your time. Work life balance is not something that is valued. The company does not value you as an employee, at the end of the day upper management protects the company. Mistakes are met with reprimands, you are not compensated well and there is very little praise for a job well done. PSG will hold you to company policy only when it serves them, if not they will not follow policy. The new upper management that is taking over in the area is a terrible person to work with, she's down right cruel to staff. While PSG gave me experience in the field it also ended with a sour taste in my mouth. There are many other companies that can offer higher pay and will treat their employees better. 

So the expectation, regardless of your position it to go “above and beyond”. If you don’t do that, you don’t get recognized and your employee evaluations will suffer. Managers/supervisors micromanage you even if you’ve been with the company for several years. Don’t be too good at your job, otherwise you’ll be expected to do the work of two or more people. The benefits are fine, after your initial 90 days you get 4 weeks PTO and insurance is okay ( low deductible package for a family is still $300 per pay check paid every other week). Pay is also okay, but act your wage, don’t go above and beyond if the compensation is not there. Upward mobility can be there, but may not be worth the slight pay increase. Training for new staff is not really there, it’s kind of a sink or swim mentality, they stick you with cases with in your first week and this is probably why there is such a height turnover. 

PSG has been nothing but flexible and supportive while in my role. Overall, the work environment is positive and staff/leadership value the work they are doing and the impact they are making in our community. PSG has always allowed flexibility in schedules and values a work/life balance for their employees. The benefits are excellent, and PSG even offers additional services such as EAP to ensure staff have the support they need. Leadership is always looking for ways to acknowledge and appreciate staff such as zoo outings, company picnics, as well as merit increases (and bonuses when possible). PSG focuses on growth for staff by providing a wide variety of valuable trainings that can often also count as CEUs. Although the work we do can be difficult at times, watching families succeed and thrive makes it well worth it.  I have always felt valued, heard and appreciated while working for PSG! 

As a member of the Professional Services Group, I played a key role in the success of a client’s Electronic Medical Records (EMR) implementation. I work in conjunction with the client team to configure Vision’s Clinical application. As a consultant, I provide best practice consulting in the design and configuration of Vision’s application, which enhances the adoption of the EMR and clinical solutions at client locations. I have direct responsibility for the deployment of projects that may include a combination of software applications and related interfaces in the Long Term Care, Home Health, Continuing Care Retirement communities, and Rehab organizations. In addition, I have direct responsibility for researching and facilitating resolution of all implementation issues at the client site.

No opportunites for advancement, once you are fully licensed, you can expect a very minimal pay increase.  Communication is not great overall which is alarming considering how many meetings are held each week. Not all benefits are equal - found out my coworkers were getting profit sharing benefits while I was not so that's cool. Constant therapist  turnover due to the inability to get and keep clients and not getting paid when no clients = no paycheck stability. Supervisors do not support their staff and depending on the location you are at, too much micro managing going on and one that doesn't even have a receptionist to answer calls or greet clients. workplace culture needs a lot of improvement.  Annual performance reviews?- expect a .50 raise.
