First of all, the float pool was a joke. You are never guaranteed your hours, even if you are full time. There were plenty of offices that would send in a request, only to be told that there wasn't anyone available, even though you are sitting at home but making any money. This was done very often and only to certain people regardless of how many times they were requested by an office. There were many times when you wouldn't be scheduled somewhere, call that same morning to confirm that there wasn't an office that needed someone, only to be called a few hours later after you are already doing something else only to get yelled at because you aren't available anymore. They expected you to stay home, dressed, and ready to jump on the rare occasion that they call. Next, they had a huge layoff that they did in January. They laid off around 30 people telling them that their position didn't exist anymore. They then turned around 30 days later and started rehiring some of these same positions. The triage center that answers the calls for most of the 30 offices, but only have about 10 people in the department because everyone has left. The hold times are ridiculously long, so the patients are already frustrated. A lot of the providers haven't been paid in a few months, so they ask have other jobs on the sides to keep some kind of income steady. They keep telling us that things are turning around and looking good and turning around, but keep meeting with Roper executives. They have lost almost all of the IT engineers and only have one EMR trainer because everyone else left. Doctors are leaving the company at an alarming rate. At the corporate office, they have gotten rid of the coffee makers, ice machine, plates, and all utensils, and were told they will not be supplying them any longer. The employees were told that they couldn't have a cheaper coffee maker or any personal coffee makers because they are a fire hazard, but the managers get to have them in their offices. When being hired on, we were told that there were several offices that would be joining the company within the year, but none of these things happened. There was going to be a contract with CSU for a nursing program for the employees. I know several people that were promised to be the first graduating class through this, but that is obviously not going to happen now. PPCP is full of broken promises and dreams. The company is being ran by a bunch of liars. The CFO literally told the head of the education department that his job was secure and he had nothing to worry about when he came to him with concerns during the layoffs, and then cut the entire department two days later.

When I first started, I told them upfront that this was my first job in 10 years, my first medical job out of college, and I had medical issues. Within the first year, I had made a few mistakes that were noted but otherwise was told that I was doing great. I had a good end-of-year review. 

They had the bare minimum training in a short amount of time for new employees. It was fast pace with so much information in a short amount of time that you couldn't soak it in. When I started working, workdays were very hectic but I made do with the minimum training. When my coworker was out of the office, the company floats offered were not well trained and rarely helped. Several times, they were told to just leave. Eventually, we stopped receiving help at all! My office was one of the few that took live calls. It was hectic to try and keep up with the intake. When COVID started, there was little training about updated insurances, new policies, and scheduling changes. It was poorly handled by the administration and higher-ups. Administration rarely cares about anything but pointing out wrongdoings, even the slightest, easily fixable mistakes are treated like high offenses. Meanwhile, jobs well done were outright ignored.

As soon as the new year started, everything spiraled. HR outright refused my accommodation of a simple schedule change for medical reasons. Other offers were not possible for me to work. When I was given my "PIP", received no retraining or guidance to help deal with specific struggles they had detailed. I was left to my own devices with no help. When put on COVID quarantine, they refused to extend the PIP time period. I was given inadequate time to change these behaviors listed in the PIP.  Within three months, I was forced to sign their FMLA, spoken to three times by HR with complex lists of wrong-doings, and ultimately terminated for "breaking company policy and passing responsibility." I didn't have the slimmest chance at keeping my job within their terms. 

If possible, I would skip this company in lieu of companies that have compassionate HR departments, better management, and more positive office attitudes. 

The whole time I was employed at my last job, they were continuously given all its employees multiple opportunities to grow and learn in a safe and very warming environment. The staff were always courteous to each other and had a huge support system. We not only treated our patients as family, but our coworkers as well. I cant wait to find another place of employment that can show me how much love can be found with coworkers. My day to day experiences changed depending on what location I was sent to for the day because I was in the float pool, so assignments varied on who needed me. If I was sent to a lab then a typical day consisted of going into the office and checking orders before calling patients back to complete the orders, and then working with the transportation personnel to make sure the samples were sent out in the manner in which they needed to be and in a timely manner. If I was working under a doctor for the day, then I checked patient load, how busy the schedule was, and started calling patients back as they came in. I triaged them, checked medication and the reason for the visit. I then continued to help the physician as needed through out the day with orders and procedures. The hardest part of working in this manner for this company was remembering what each office and physician preferred, especially if it had been a long time since I visited them. The most enjoyable part of employment was being with family even when away at work and being able to take care of patients in a loving and comforting environment.

Each location is different with many being great places to work for their individual location. However, the organization is so large, there are strict protocols in place by Corporate. Corporate cares nothing about the workers.  Employees are not considered as individuals with individual needs and circumstances.  You are nothing but employee number 1234.  Management at individual locations has no real authority.  The people who know you have no input in the decision-making process about you.  Are you meeting your productivity and keeping your head down?  That's how you keep a job.  I've been in healthcare for over 10 years.  This is the WORST organization I have worked for in regard to caring for employees.  The individual location was great.  Corporate is toxic and they do not care.

This company USED to be great. The doctors, practitioners and their support staff are great, hard working people. This company USED to be about patient care, but now it has become all about the money. The employees in the trenches taking care of patients are not being appreciated. No one has had a pay raise in 5+ years. IT, billing, and scheduling have gotten outsourced, which confuses and aggrevates patients when trying to get messages to the provider. Sites are being mismanaged with no type of standards or structure. Morale is at an all time low. Employees are not being trained properly. It takes an act of God to get necessary equipment to provide quality care to patients. A simple solution for all this is investment in their employees, and maybe some appreciation. But it goes over their heads. This company is in danger of losing great people and in turn losing their business. Worst of all, they will lose thousands of patients who rely on them for quality care. No one thinks about what will happen to the people they serve. If upper management don't get their act together, this once great company will fall.

Depending on what depeartment/office I would work in, a typical day would be interacting with patients and taking care of inquiries as well as checking them in and checking them out and taking care of payments. I definitely learned a wealth of information about insurance companies and how costly healthcare can be without insurance. There were definitely coworkers who did not carry their weight as far as work load and what was supposed to be split equally. It was very frustrating because work performance did suffer because of this. They do not train you sufficiently and that was the hardest part of the position. The most enjoyable part of the job was interacting with patients. Most of them were delightful and happy you could help them. Of course, there were patients who got upset occasionally but the most rewarding aspect is knowing you helped someone with a problem or question. 

If I were working in housekeeping, it would generally just be light housekeeping duties.

I worked as a CMA for PPCP for over a year and was a very significant part of building a practice for a provider. If you are not a provider or a site supervisor your ideas and opinions do not matter. The work environment, co-workers, patients, and equipment are all very good. I loved my actual job and I am very dedicated to patient care. I had some sincere concerns about how the provider treated certain patients and how they treated their employees. I voiced those multiple times  to my site supervisor and the supervisor above them. Nothing was taken seriously. An incident occurred between the provider and I and I was proven to have done nothing wrong even though I was accused of it. Their explanation to me was I wasn’t wrong, but because I wasn’t the provider I would never be right. I have no desire to work for a company that will stand up for someone just because they have a license to practice medicine. 

Reporting medical malpractice will get you terminated.  Anyone with professional integrity should avoid this place like the plaque. Randomly overbook patients when scheduling testing with no structure or plan to maintain patient safety. Ineffective management, especially in radiology, with poor communication skills.  Unwilling to correct perpetual documented problems.  But worse overall.  Unsupportive bullying behavior from Human Resource dept.  The leadership does not value the employees and the turnover is starting. Almost 30 years experience in healthcare on every level. Palmetto Primary Care Physicians is the worst run practice operationally I've ever seen. If you're good at what you do go elsewhere.  

I started here at the North Charleston location CBO office back in May 2020 after being laid off from my other job due to COVID. I can definitely say I loved my coworkers, I loved my Supervisor/Management. The only reason I left was due to relocation otherwise I would stay here. I met amazing people and amazing patients through this job and I would not have it any other way. You can GUARANTEE that if I’m ever back in SC this is where I’ll be working. I went through some stuff at home, short notice stuff and was given the time off I needed to heal, and when I came back I was welcomed with love and support from everyone. I ended up testing positive for COVID and my own BOSS texted me throughout, checking on how I felt... Nothing like my previous jobs where it was “when are you coming back” ONLY positive messages from everyone around, even people from other sites grew to be the same way. Everyone is full of love and they will become your family. 

Working for PPC was fun, informative and patients are wonderful.  Company just refuses to pay a fair working wage.  They push the employee handbook, yet it's only followed when benefited to the company.  They offer PTO but they use it as a carrot if you don't tow the line, you won't get your PTO when leaving the company.  They promise performance reviews but you are lucky if you get one every couple of years.  They will make you feel guilty about asking for a raise and tell you the company isn't doing well right now.  The office itself is fine.  The doctors are knowledgeable, they are just stingy to work for.  Hours and time off were fine.  Was actually an enjoyable place to work until morale went down after covid and never came back up.
