What is the best part of working at the company?
Self paced work knowing very well the frequency of your vital signs as well as ACCU-CHECKS and the frequency. We deal with Q4s and Q8. If I float to I U that is where I deal with Q1 or Q2 since the patient will be on insulin drip. Mostly I work with ambulating patients, incase I work with a total patient/s , those are Q-turn also cleaning in case they are dirty. I do perennials care, catheter care also helping with showers, making beds

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
It was stressful when I started working at the hospital but now I am so used, I know when to do what.

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
Busy. Parkland is busy because I work in Med Surg where there are different patients with different kind of diseases. Call lights are non stop but I am used to it.

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
Busy day/night. When the call lights are non stop and ratio will be 12 per tech. Yes you can get help from the nurses if there are not busy passing meds too. Other than that experience makes everything looks easier because you know already what to do.

Amazing resources to do your job with hands on management team. 
Nurse driven protocols in place that allow fast and efficient nursing care.

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
At first it would be the amount of data coming at you daily. Medication scan rates, daily narcotic reviews, Foley and Central line data. HCAPS. You realize over time that the data coming back helps you take better care of your patients.

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
They want feedback from staff and patients to make improvements. They want you to be successful and allow room to grow with a lot of opportunities available with HCA overall to do that. Friendly coworkers

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
Fast pace environment with critical patients. Rounding with CC to bring concerns to morning huddles, talk about discharges, and hold ups to getting testing complete in timely manners. Discharges and downgrades happen to get people where they need to be and allow room for new patients. On a step down unit you can discharge all 4 patients in a day and get all new ones.

What is the best part of working at the company?
Nothing! This was the worst experience

Co-worker were awful,  lazy, not helpful,  not experienced and dangerous 

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
Mostly travel nurses, travelers are treated like slaves while the staff nurses sit with their feet up! Nurse to patient ratios are 7:1 on medsurg, they float you to departments that you are not qualified or trained in, most of the time nobody will help, unless it is another travel nurse. 

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
7:1 patient/nurse ratio, admissions always go to traveler's,  sometimes you are not made aware of new patient, staff is inexperienced and not helpful. Often times floated.

What is the best part of working at the company?
Nice colleagues and good food in cafeteria. Close to my house so short trip to work.

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
Terrible management. Incompetent house doctors. Don't listen to their patients needs and ignore families. Very poor pay

Toxic
 Threatening by management. Management plays favorites. Hard to get time off. Staff lies about other staff. Nurses very clique 



What is a typical day like for you at the company?
Report from.ptevious shift. 30 minute condescending lecture from charge nurse about what the nurses can't do right. 8 to.9 patients full care with mi imal help from aide

I have grown up around this facility because my parents used to work here. At first I loved working at Parkland but then they were purchased by HCA. After Parkland was bought out we lost a lot of our benefits, healthcare gets worse every year, and we have become WAY understaffed. This has obviously caused a ping pong effect. Bad benefits makes you unhappy but you continue to work hard. Because you are working hard you get really tired and even more unhappy. Due to this downward effect of unhappiness people begin to leave and we become understaffed. HCA won't hire anyone else on because they are to busy trying to keep their money instead of creating a better patient care experience. My advice try working for CMC, Dartmouth, or St. Joes.

Fellow employees...I enjoyed my staff in my department 

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
CEO, CFO AND VPO!  Worst upper management I have seen in 25 years .it's all about their money and their bonuses while the abuse and overwork staff without incentives or raises!

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
Hostile!  Upper management causes a lot of unnecessary stress by forcing you to work uncovered hours above and beyond your regular scheduled hours and change your hours completely with a two week notice!

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
Busy, short staffed, chaotic!  OR is unorganized, nurses are barely qualified, ER is a dirty, unsafe environment?

I was hired as a sub-contractor to develop a daily yoga and meditation program for residents of the mental health and wellness center. I loved the autonomy I was given to develop the program, teach classes and find a second instructor to complete the 7-day a week schedule. The most challenging part of the job was that patient turnover occurred daily in some cases and so each day I was facing what was in essence a new group of residents. I loved being able to create and inspire positive change in each of them whether I interacted with them for one day or for 30 days.

The girls I worked with. They are the best part of the job!  They are very smart and caring. Very attentive to the patients. 

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
The management!  They care more for the business side than the patient or employee. Very low pay.

In the unit I was in we did the best we could with what was given. 

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
Wondering if we would get help or you had to do more than asked just to help get through the day

it was very fast paced without enough people that could  get all there different jobs done. When the patient count was low they would cut the helping staff not realizing we didn't just cook for patients. we still had to provide for the staff which was still full. most of the i was the only one cooking the breakfast and lunch meals for both staff and patient. which i handle well every day. on weekends (which was every other) i also had to be the supervisor till noon while doing the food part. we catered many functions inside and outside the hospital. i did learn a lot about food, nutrition, specialized diets, and allergy's.

Terrible care for patients, the doctors were all locums, and they were sloppy and incompetent. Most days doctors never saw their patients but documented their daily notes by copy and pasting day after day.  Patient care was drive mostly from nursing. Nurses asked for testings, labs, and consults otherwise the patients would never get better or get diagnosed. Very disappointed by nursing managment. Budget is only priority and nurse leaders have no power in anything.
