A typical day at work consists of day-day routines with a change in monotony through events, behaviors (positive and negative) and much more on/off site excitement. Upper management had always been a safe, reliable and efficient source for concerns, resources, advice, reassurance and much more. HM, nursing and staffing, on the other hand, seem to be hard to find and even harder to keep. Being short staffed was an issue quite often.  MOST of the individuals that filled each role during my employment were phenomenal in my opinion. The hardest but also most enjoyable part of my assisted living experience has been getting to know each client and feeling a sense of purpose while providing each individual with personalized cares to fit their needs. Meadow Ponds has taught me a majority of the home healthcare knowledge I have acquired from my first 7 1/2 years of healthcare experience. One of my personal favorite insites being “They may not remember your name, but they will always remember how you made them feel.” 

I have worked in the Long Term Care Field for 19 years.  I started as the Social Services Director of a local hometown nursing home, then was asked to return to school to obtain my Administrator License.  I was the the LNHA of the same home for 15 years.  Since then I have had the opportunity to join the Partners Senior Living Options Team, which has allowed me to still be connected to the home as a Regional Director.  The owners and board invest in their employees and encourage promotion within.  The company truly believes in giving the best care possible to the residents of the small communities while upholding the core values of the company-Humor, Integrity, Professionalism, Dignity and Passion.  They allow autonomy in each home they own and operate while providing insight and guidance as needed or as requested.  They want the small, rural community members to have a place to live when they are not able to remain in their home.  

The residents are great to work with though most stay in their rooms most of the time as not much is offered to them for social/emotional growth throughout the day.  Management cares little about the residents or staff.  Currently the building is so short staffed that many shifts go unfilled in a typical week. It is not unusual for staff to be late for their shift or not even show up, w/o calling in.  Tasks are not completed and residents are left waiting for help.  Much of the friendliness has left the building.  Staff is NOT properly trained and don’t follow guidelines.  Management on many levels are told yet nothing changes.  It is a for profit business with the owners getting the profit and the residents and the few staff who truly care getting hurt.

This is quite literally the worst place you could possibly work. The clients are mis-treated and neglected on the daily and the supervisors could not care less. Your supervisors will be very judgy and will not talk to you or address you especially if you have concerns about the work place. Everyone here is 2 faced and no one is friendly. The clients are sweet and they deserve better. Clients have made MANY reports of staff mistreatment towards them but the supervisors here don’t do anything. Don’t plan on having a life outside of work if you wanna try this place. The supervisors are beyond inconsiderate and only care about themselves.

My typical day at work is to get to work early before time for me to clock in to check my emails and get things for my shift ready. I have learned that some work can be so challenging but it takes patience to get through it. I have managed an office where I have to deal with customers and make them feel comfortable because any company needs to have a good customer relationship with their customers for any business to be a success. for them also. I like me and my co-workers to be a team. The hardest part of a job is when you don't have a team to work with you. The most enjoyable part of the job is when I get everything done a head of time and make my customers happy.

Management was less than supportive. During a COVID outbreak management left to complete web seminars for a week, while other nursing was out sick. There were constant excuse as to why they could not help with coverage. They would help only remotely.. hours after the task needed completion. Housing managers bullied nursing and yet nothing was done by management to solve the issue. The company owners have no nursing background. This is a solely for profit company, that’s puts no emphasis on the fact of not having nursing coverage to care for the residents. Be prepared to sign your life away to this company.

What is the best part of working at the company?
Absolutely fantastic leadership/owners. Great, caring staff in the communities they support. All around wonderful company.

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
Staffing-like all other caregiving companies. 

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
Fun, honest, professional. They truly are innovative and invest in making sure their staff are well supported and have the skills and tools to do their job.

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
Every day was different for me due to my role.

A typical day at work was always crazy. The AM staff didn't tell you anything about what had happened on their shift. So you were always walking into a guessing game. The residents always had something bad to say.

I learned to love and care for my residents. That every person is different.

Co-workers were never willing to pick up shifts. They would always ask you for shifts but if you wanted a day off or needed a day off, no one would cover for you.

The hardest part of my job is watching my residents get worse.

I loved seeing my residents every day. I loved seeing them smile and enjoy their time.

The residents and their families 

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
The most stressful part is when  the covid pandemic started.

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
The work environment is like one big family. The company has always considered and respected their employees input on matters.

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
A typical day is being available to assist with clients everyday needs

Setting up individual companies for each assisted living facility was something I enjoyed and was educational. From obtaining government identifying numbers to setting up chart of accounts and the entire accounting structure of the facilities.

Working with the individual Facility Administration hired to run each facility, getting employee handbooks and policies and procedures in place. Something new and challenging, and satisfying!
