A typical work day was making sure the residents were taken care of and maintaining their safety. What I learned most was to remember every one has something to contribute in the care planning of the residents. Remembering there's no I in team. The hardest part was dealing with those personalities that were all about the buck and not about the hoilistic approach of the patients care. The most enjoyable part of the job was knowing you contributed to the smile on the face of a resident who normally felt alone and unloved. There's no greater joy than to bring joy and laughter to some one who felt alone and abandoned.

I enjoy working at Penick! It is one of the nicer LTC facilities in the area. Depending on who’s making the schedule, they will work with your availability. They try to give you the hours you want. However, as the new CEO has taken over, the place has gone downhill. We are no longer given incentives for picking up extra days or coming in when they are short-staffed. I think the pay is fair, considering what other facilities pay. It’s pretty competitive. But there is no shift-diff. Just holiday pay. Overall, I like where I work and I enjoy the residents, even though I believe they should learn more about who is entering the facility (as far as residents go), because many patients will cause you to burn out quickly. 

As soon as you walk in the door, you feel at home. The staff and residents are so kind and helpful. I always feel as if everyone enjoys being here. I love that management was willing to work with me regarding my schedule. They have been so understanding and accommodating by helping me achieve the work/life balance I was seeking. I've been here a short time but I already feel as if I've made life-long friends with staff and residents. I leave work everyday feeling happy and knowing that I did a little good to help others.

I loved my job at penick. The only problem was the nurse Managements attitude. We were told daily to have a positive attitude but the direct nursing management had horrible attitudes towards the employees and sometimes the residents. It was a constant battle against cna and them. The favoritism was horrible!!! Family members being supervised by other family members. Things would be great if they got rid of the one person causing all the issues. The CEO was absolutely wonderful!!! The only problem was that he was kept outta the loop and didn't know half of what was going on on the nursing floor.

Teamwork,  Professional   Appreciation  of staff!!

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
Call outs and working short on the floor but we had such good teamwork we made it enjoyable but our bodies felt it at the end of the shift. Nothing a good hot shower & ben-Gay couldn't solve.

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
Great Teamwork  upmost staff and administration. Great Work experience.

What is the best part of working at the company?
Nothing. Management has changed and it sucks! Everybody is worried about power and not what's best for the residents. It's sad really.

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
They pull you from your job to go do someone else's. 

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
Hire anybody, and most don't care just simply want a job.

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
You don't know til you get there. All depends on if management is on one of their power trips.

The pleasure is a pleasure to work in an environment like pitch with the love and compassionate patients and people you have working with you

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
When people don't work with you and the way that they should work with you it makes your job very stressful and being on one accord makes it great. Not being on accord makes it stressful.

The environment is a loving environment and compassionate

The residents of Penick Village are my employers, the CFO is my boss.  Everyday I feel appreciated by both the residents and the management team.  
I enjoy the challenges of improving processes and systems.  I have the complete support of the management team.  Each time a issue comes to light, the entire group works to solve it.  We work as a team and the staff tries to make sure everyone has what they need to succeed.

Penick Village has seen recent changes in staff and Leadership that are designed to take Penick Village into the next phase of its rich legacy and future potential. Plans for an upcoming expansion and renovation to most of the community, and the recent upgrade in the minimum hourly pay should continue to help Penick Village be a great place to work. 

I've worked in two very different departments at Penick Village and can honestly say that in both roles, I have had a great experience. I started here in 2018 and have been allowed to grow professionally and personally quite a bit since then. The best part of my job is the relationships that are built with the residents as well as coworkers.
