I really enjoyed my local office, and am grateful for the experience I gained at Perdue. However, the firm as a whole does not value its legal assistants. They have an "everybody's replaceable" attitude that is very short-sighted, especially in an industry where most people come in with no experience. As a legal assistant, you can expect to be over-worked, under-paid, and be under constant pressure to do more. My local office manager and attorneys were great, but there is so little room for advancement and competitive pay for support staff that it's not a place to build a career unless you're an attorney. That said, the experience can be very valuable and lead to other opportunities with companies that do value their employees more.

In contrast to the "everybody's replaceable" attitude at Perdue, my new employer has the attitude "we hire you to retire you". It is possible for a larger company to value and support its employees and still be profitable.

A typical day at work at the firm was very laid back. I was a call center representative and collected delinquent property taxes for Wichita, Montague, Knox and Archer Counties. I have collected over $5 million in two and a half years working there. I learned a lot of the Texas Property Tax Code. I also learned how to be independent and work without supervision, time management, and initiative. Management was great. The culture of the workplace was very open and we were all like a family. All the collectors, paralegals and attorneys worked closely together. The hardest part of the job was getting accounts collected in full because most people don't have the money to pay their accounts in full. The most enjoyable part of the job was going to work everyday knowing you will learn something new.

typical office job, easy work, but its the environment. very cold, and filled with cliques, especially old people. the tax payers you deal with talk to you crazy and you're expected to take it? old people gossip like theres no tomorrow. ok job if you're just starting out, but horrible pay, rarely get raises, they celebrate birthdays too much. do not make this job long term. half of the firm is a collection call center, the other half are attorneys and legal assistants, but the legal assistants are also basically collection call center but with copy and pasting information, suing people for back taxes, and getting treated like nothing for 12-15 an hour. if u want a predictable matrix life, its ok

Upon arriving to work, the supervisor informs you of progress the group has made, and give the groups tasks of how and what areas the group can improve. You learn how to use private, county, and statewide databases to research taxpayer information. The management is easy going and patient. The co workers are friendly and helpful. The hardest part of the job is the beginning. Learning the databases and tricks on how to search for the specific information you need can be the most difficult part of the job. The most enjoyable part of the job is collecting the taxes and meeting quotas. It encourages you to want to grow and succeed.

Perdue Brandon Law Firm, (PBFCM) is a great place to work, the management takes time to get to know you and see what kind of a person you are. The work environment is a quite office setting with friendly faces to spare. The hardest part of the job is trying to sympathize with the taxpayers that don't understand you are trying to help them out with their property tax issues. I do enjoy helping those who know you are not trying to hassle them, but help them so they don't lose their property. Your communication skills will greatly improve and that is a skill you can take with you to any career.

Very fast paced law firm that is dependable and reliable in helping the client resolves issues regarding tax claims.  You learn how to litigate, document and prepare legal documents for court. The management team works diligently with you as well as provide support and care in resolving complaints.  The workplace culture is diverse and it has a friendly environment.  The hardest part of the job is being able to keep up with the workload and knowing the demands of a particular job.  The most enjoyable part of the job is your teammates and the work environment.  It is a family oriented business.

My typical day at work includes answering phone calls, talking to tax payers. I also manage the installment agreements for the different counties that we represent. 
The management here is great. They really watch out for you and really care about you. 
Everyone gets along with everyone here - no drama. 
The hardest part of my job is handling the amount of work that goes on in a typical day. 
But I really love the people I work with and the work I do. I don't dread going to work everyday.

The attorney never having it together for structure and direction

Toxic environment due to lack of job training and lead attorney structure 

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
Required to fit 10 hours of work into 8 hour day, with the lead supervisor not answering questions for direction and unresponsive attorney.

Good place to work, supervisor wasn't a good leader/supervisor, some employees are treated like children, didn't want employees to talk to each other.  If someone had a problem with an employee, the supervisor wouldn't talk to employee would have someone else do it and wouldn't be truthful when asked about situation, would assume something instead of asking the employee directly.

Typical 830-5 office job. Management is ok - not great not terrible. The job does give constructive criticism. I guess this could be considered tough for some. Companionship - there are lasting friendships that have sprouted from there.
