When I first started with the company in 2006 the culture was exciting and seeing people make $5,000 bonus checks a month was not only impressive, but very appealing. To me this meant that the possibility was there for the taking. After a few years I understood the job and became successful. During this time I also had the opportunity to become a manager. When I was demoted 8 years later it became clear that the atmosphere of the company was one that stunk of favoritism, inequality, negligence, one-sidedness and unfairness. In my opinion in 2017 is when the company began its nose dive. They managed to fire/force out approximately 65-70% of their production staff which were mainly tenured employees. They started a points metric based on your production, compliance and attendance. They cut our commissions and made it extremely difficult, if not impossible to bonus. It was sad to see some of my best friends either get fired or forced out. They then began their hiring campaign and doing anything and everything they can to fill their empty seats. I was eventually let go as well. After being there for so many years its sad to watch a company that you once loved just fall apart and the managers turn their backs to the employees. I feel like there is a huge disconnect between the division managers and their employees. This isnt a job that you wake up excited to go to, in fact not only will you dread it every day, but they will make sure to always remind you of your points and the potential of you getting terminated once you hit 25 points. In short, I wouldn't recommend this job to anyone, unless it was for any other department besides production. Good luck.

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
Management and QA. Being micro-Managed and constantly critiqued by a narcissist controlling manager was in no way helpful or coaching it was degrading. Team was not allowed to just ask each other about their day or share about their lives, parents especially could not talk about their children but we all had to listen to his sports rants and updates. If the team socialized too much while keeping up production he would shut it down, add more tasks, then put jokes and photos about himself in the chat. So there was no team building in a group chat fear to ask questions and constant fear you where going to be assigned work out of punishment therefore taking the joy out of completing a workload for the week. 

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
Upper management acts like they care about work life balance, but team work does not really exist and good workers are absolutely over utilized and bad workers are given low work loads and allowed to chill so they do not harm production. It's all but on the good workers. 

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
Stressfully and certainly not worth the low pay.

I received semi-regular reports with leads (members) w/ additional ins listed on the clients COB file. A COB Analyst calls those ins Co's to verify dates of coverage, retirement status, policy type & ESRD. The reports were missing mem names, mem DOB, Last 4 of SS, mem mailing address, employer, missing the correct ins co name. We were required to go find the required missing info while we were on HOLD with other ins Co's. (Yes Really).  EX: a report has 500 lines. 250 of those lines were missing all the necessary mem info in order to perform a successful/complete verification. Leaderships response to everything was "Do the best ya can". It's pretty difficult to meet productivity when your reports are missing everything. The dept has NO working dashboard or platforms. ALL work is MS Excel SS that are missing up to 70% of the mem info. HR pol's are totally backward. They DO NOT have a real 401k. No dollar to dollar match. Sick time & vacation time are separate. Why? PTO should be PTO. The job was very stressful to me as well as others. I was salary. I found myself working every weekend & 10 hrs Mon-Fri. I voiced my stress to leadership. All I got was 'Do the best ya can". The place stinks. RUN-RUN-RUN. THEY DO NOT KNOW WHAT THEY ARE DOING..     

My essential job duties were to contactClients who were in Student Loan debt, into a Rehabilitation program to pay their loan and have it remove them from a default status and return in good standing with the original company loan was taken out with. Once into billing, had to maintain contact and establish a trusting relationship with clients to keep their accounts in good standing for the 10 month duration of our program. 
I learned that this job is not for everyone. Finding folks who owed this kind of money, was almost impossible and if contact was made, majority of the phone calls ended with no conversation at all and no contact was made ever again. I did find that the more customer service oriented I was, instead of the approach I was told to give, gave me better results. I also learned to work as a team with my co-workers and support each other as much as possible. 
The company definitely took care of their employees as far as providing the comforts we needed to work through the stress. As far as the part of the job I did not enjoy, was the constant chance in management and rules, that made it difficult for me and my co-workers to comfortably meet achievable goals expected of us.

Working for Performant really shows a person how to be patient with the people that you are calling and how to listen to their needs. How to speak the truth to someone without being disrespectful and to understand the real world outside ones own personal viewpoint! 
Once clocked in, it is important to make calls and find borrowers and let them know about their debt and options as to how to handle the debt without legal issues. As long as you are completing the job and meeting quota you will have no issues with management. You work in teams of 6-8, a row of 4 teams, and a division manager. The hardest part of the job is not getting through or being yelled at by the borrower, which can be everyday or at least once a week! The best part of the job is helping someone take the burden of debt off the table!

My first manager made me cry twice before my first break one day. In general, management only cares about numbers and dollars, even at the expense of humanity and decency. Management encourages deception, backstabbing and usurping other employees' accounts, as long as they meet their quota. This place is wrought with people lacking integrity and even less couth. It's uncomfortably apparent that most workers grew up with very little so will scrap and undercut their colleagues for a dollar. Pretty tacky. Also, their database is faulty so consistently forces errors onto unexpecting employees. Their "compliance point system" is a farce at best as the workers are penalized for "errors" the system makes.  General consensus is that Performant gets a kickback for each person they hire. For example, Louisiana Department of Revenue and State of New York Department of Taxation & Finance most likely pay a certain amount of money per head hired or else this company wouldn't mind the alarming and disproportionate turnover rate.

This place causes so much mental stress on its employees. Everyone is seriously always on the verge of being fired. It was such a toxic work environment having to worry about being fired every single day.

● Management
The ceo is extremely greedy while the majority of the workers at the bottom make just over minimum wage. The company continuously cut money from the bottom employees while the ceo and top management continued getting richer.

● Overall
This place is not worth your mental health & sanity. This place is all about the money for the highest management and doesn’t care one bit  about the main workforce at the bottom. They constantly wanted us to work harder all while paying us less and less. They promise new hires the lie of becoming rich which is highly unlikely. The company also keeps 42% of the bonus check their employees can earn. This company is the epitome of greed.

Managers and people at the top has really let this place go down the crapper  , they have absolutely the most unprofessional communication with there employees information that is pertinent just doesn't seem to get passed on , they will tell employees they are doing something wrong on something they forgot to even train them on , the scare tactics used by management is the worse I have ever seen .  The money is going downhill and the work is stacking up , this company is so wrapped in procedure after procedure by the time your done talking to the person on the other side they have enough information to write a book   , stocks have crashed to nothing and the only way to have a change in results is to have a change in leadership .. which they don't understand and which is why they will eventually close down .

No pay raises EVER! could be years before you will recieve a bonus!  No flexibilty. Can only work between 6am CT to 7 am CT mon thru fri. No flexing or making up your time. What you are scheduled to work must work. If you need a Friday/Monday off you must use PTO time or sick time cannot work 4 10 hours days like most coding companies. Cannot leave for a family emergency and come back to work same day to make up time again must use sick or PTO time. No formal education, no CEUs given. If you are a coder looking to get experience in auditing this company may be for you. No micromanaging, great holidays off, decent starting pay. If you are a coder or auditor that pay raises, bonuses, flexibility, further education or CEUs are important then I would recommend STRONGLY THAT YOU LOOK ELSEWHERE!

Great Learning experience, I had improve my social skills,  how to multitask, how to think outside the box and my technical skills. 
The most enjoyable part of my job is been able to accomplish my projects in a timely mater with my team or individually. A typical day at work can be very busy and stressful since we work by projects and analyzing companies revenue. 
The hardest part of the job for me will be the company doesn't provide much training to their employees. Therefore, you need to be a very hands on person in order to figure out what you need to do and that can make it a little more challenging to accomplish your daily activity. Other than that, I believe Performant is a good place to work for if you want to start a career in finance or in the health care industry.
