After being hired as an account manager I lasted only two months before this disorganized, poorly constructed company terminated me. I was learning two systems at once as they were in the midst of switching systems. It’s a sink or swim situation as I eceived very little training. Very disorganized. No one seemed to know what was going on. 

A customer filed a claim and the producer told me the wrong client name by mistake so I looked up the wrong policy and told him he wasn’t covered, causing a huge catastrophe and leaving the client furious. The producer’s mistake whom I was working under came down on me. 

The receptionist went on vacation within the first few weeks and I was made to take over her job while I was still learning my own. Why would they have the newest person do her job on top of mine? I was brought into an office after 30 days and told what a poor job I was doing and they brought up the fact that I was overwhelmed when I took over for the receptionist...Of course I was.

Another employee sent emails to the manager complaining about my work and informing them of the accounts I had not gotten to yet. Other employees were nice to my face but threw me under the bus behind my back. Questionable politics. Managers talked down to me and consistently doubted me so I felt that no matter what I did it wasn’t good enough. 

Needless to say, I was let go after 60 days after being brought into an office to be told once again how bad I was doing despite my best efforts to learn everything and get things done. It’s like they set me up by giving me more than I could handle with little training. When I was walking out the manager followed me out the door asking me questions about the status of an account, which by the way was an account which the client was difficult to deal with and I was able to get through to him more than anyone else. Um... they should have asked me those questions before they fired me.

For over 1 1/2 years I worked as an account manager who received inadequate training but regardless, held my own, received no complaints, did my job properly, and received a glowing review with a poor raise. Suddenly, when the office manager was demoted and placed in my team, my title was stripped from me, I was told I could no longer communicate with producers or insureds, I could not do any quoting, and I was to do nothing but process documents. My former office manager took my job. I was being pulled into meetings to be told how poorly I was now doing my job on a constant basis. The work environment became bullying and hostile. After quitting this awful environment, I viewed my personnel file to find that even though the management had given me glowing reviews, they communicated to HR that I was inadequate at learning or growing in my position, which was a FALSE STATEMENT.

This was a high stress work environment with little to no management oversight or clear processes. PFS has a horrible working culture, management puts band aids on problems until they’re bad enough people leave. There are no backup plans if people leave and you are continuously asked to perform job duties outside of your hired job description. Problems and concerns can be brought up frequently but no changes are made, the solution is to kick it down the road or hire someone unqualified. Not a friendly workplace for women, most of the admin and support staff are women, but it’s an old boys club. The most stressful place I’ve ever worked with a toxic work environment. 

PFS is a great company to work with as they have a terrific management staff that makes you feel like you are a part of the team and not just a number within the organization.  They work with you to train and have a very defined workflow program that is easy to follow.  Everyone at the organization makes it a great place to want to go on a daily basis.  The atmosphere is easy to work for and they understand the benefits that it takes to keep employees happy.  They allow you to continue to grow within their organization and allow for that growth and encouragement the whole time you are with them.

I am so glad I decided to make a career change and join the PFS Insurance team!  All of my colleagues are very hardworking and nice. PFS is focused on building for the future and is concentrating on becoming a digital agency. PFS celebrates birthdays and special occasions which brings an element of fun to our busy days. In addition to a great work atmosphere, PFS Insurance has wonderful benefits. 

PFS Insurance Group has been a great agency to work for.  I have been able to learn various aspects of the insurance industry throughout my time here and work with knowledgeable staff.  I love my PFS family and encourage anyone who wants to get into the insurance industry to consider this agency. 

the Agency Manager was caught in bad practices with previous employer.  He also has no respect for support staff, making very hard to respect him.  Co-workers are great though.

Personal lines are only an accommodation for existing commercial and benefits clients. 
There is very little transparency. 
Salary lower than surrounding market but benefits are good.

This is a sales and data driven company, so you have to be okay with hunting down your paycheck. The environment and coworkers are nothing short of fantastic, everyone challenges you in a good way. 

Hard to work with some of the insurance agents who wouldn’t take calls from clients, despite some emergency situations. Lack of support from leadership.
