I had a very disappointing experience with Phoenix Behavioral Health. The business practices felt unethical and deeply concerning. Therapists are overworked to the point of burnout, with unrealistic expectations and caseloads that make it nearly impossible to provide quality care.

There is constant pressure to complete intakes and admit high-risk clients who are not appropriate for the level of care offered. This puts both clients and clinicians in difficult and potentially unsafe situations. Therapists are not given adequate time to actually treat their clients the way they should be treated.

The owners rarely communicate directly with staff and seem unaware—or unconcerned—about the clinical realities happening on the ground.

I cannot recommend this organization to clients seeking ethical, client-centered care or to clinicians looking for a supportive work environment

This company is going through severe mismanagement. When I started there was no structure and policy or procedures, no direction, and sink or swim style of training. Management is often disconnected with daily operations and has little understanding of the clinical part of the job. Clinicians are forced to do the work of 4 different people, fight for fair compensation, and balance work load that feels as though they are being set up for failure due to lack of resources to meet demand. When staff attempts to advocate for themselves they are met with disrespect, more demands and empty promises. Recently management has shifted to military style micromanagement that puts the expectation that staff is required to work beyond the 40 hrs and has little regards to work life balance of employees. 

I would not recommend working here. The job description was not accurate to the actual role expect to spend most of your day just making outbound calls, often over 100 calls per day. Hard work is not valued, management frequently changes expectations, and communication with employees is poor. Training was limited, yet employees were expected to perform at a high level almost immediately. There seemed to be little trust between management and staff, and the turnover rate appeared to be high. Expect to be micromanaged and have to tell your manager what you are doing at all time, immediately. Overall, it was a stressful work environment with questionable practices and very little support.

I’ve worked in the Children’s Program at Phoenix Behavioral Health for over two years and it has been a rewarding experience. I started as an Individual Support Services technician and eventually advanced to the role of Individual Support Services Supervisor. I can honestly say that I've gained great and transferrable social service skills that have allowed me to work effectively with the youth that we serve and their families and also in other areas of my day-to-day life. Working at Phoenix has also allowed me the flexibility of working another job at the same time without becoming overwhelmed. Management is flexible and understanding and always available to provide support when needed.

ISS Services is run by management that supervises through fear tactics. Previous management was pleasant.  New management is not. I walk on eggshells expecting to get in trouble for something all the time. Biweekly emails threatening your position if you so much as breathe too hard. Management is not consistent with communication, consistency, or following up. They expect a quality of work that they don't even give to their own staff. Things are so outdated. You have to mail stuff in instead of doing them electronically.

I've really enjoyed my time here. The team is incredibly supportive and focused on helping clients succeed. Leadership genuinely cares about improving processes and supporting staff, which makes for a great work environment. Expectations are clear, and I've appreciated the chance to grow professionally while doing meaningful work with such a caring group. It’s an amazing place to be if you want to make a difference!

Professional company. Onboarding was straight forward. 

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
Unfortunately, covid19 shut everything down after I was there less than 3 months. But the company culture appeared professional.

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
Professional. Nice people to work with.

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
The position was part time and flexible.

This is an extremely challenging job serving those with complex mental illness and drug addiction. You are offered no clinical support  and will be berated if your clients do not attend treatment 100% of the time. This company is very toxic starting with upper management. The workload is not manageable in 40 hours and you are expected to work nights or weekends to document. I would look else where if you have a clinical license.  

Way too much turnover, no clear instruction and no one to ask for help. Great starting point but don't be there long or it will slowly start to destroy you. Management is never there and never available for anything except to ask when checks come in for payment. Forget about your life because to them it will always be a day of lost revenue holidays or not but yet the bosses can go off the grid for months at a time. 

Clients are assigned to you and you are expected to track them down for session each week (all of my clients were telehealth). My supervisor left and I was never assigned another one so I was practicing for months without supervision. Getting in touch with people in the office was very difficult, if not impossible.
