Working as a floor nurse here has been one of the most disheartening professional experiences of my career. The management\directors is poor—leadership focuses on micromanaging just enough to check off boxes rather than genuinely supporting staff. There is little to no regard for employee well-being, morale, or input. Cost-cutting takes priority at every corner, directly affecting both patient care and staff satisfaction. Nurses are often sent home an hour early just so the hospital can save a few dollars, leaving units understaffed and the remaining team scrambling to provide safe care. Instead of rewarding hard work, management recently slashed incentive pay by 50%, while simultaneously expecting nurses to take on heavier workloads and perform at double capacity. This environment leaves front-line workers feeling undervalued and disposable. Nurses and PCTS—the backbone of patient care—are consistently the ones who get shafted while administration makes decisions from a distance, without understanding the day-to-day realities on the floor. What is the benefit then? working with some great people who have your back and know what its like working in the trenches with you. Friendly colleagues. 

Overall great location, outdoor environment is beautiful. Unfortunately there tends to be a good amount of trash, dust bunnies and grime that accumulate and are not cleaned in some of the hallways. Some places in the main lobby and HR areas are misleading as they are newer and better maintained. 

The staff I work with are wonderful. Management doesn’t seem to be hands on or involved in our work. Other places I’ve worked management was involved and would come to you and ask how things were going. Seem to spend a lot of time in offices here but maybe they are busy?

This hospital seems to invest in the wrong things. I do not feel as if they value their full time staff. They bring in a lot of travelers that don’t seem to care as much in creating a good environment and improving on things, while more and more permanent staff are quitting because of better offers or to travel. 

It is a cozy size hospital. People are usually very kind. Lovely cafe near the front lobby with friendly and wonderful baristas. Close to a lot of the most beautiful places. It’s a blessing to care for the patients here. There is a lot of good about this hospital, but some pretty major things need to be improved to maintain the good things. 

Please take this seriously if you ever consider working for Physicians Regional.  This is a for profit hospital.  There is NO communication between practice managers, doctors and patients.  Severe lack of incompetence in the managerial staff.  Doctors want to be booked up but then turn around and complain when there are too many patients.  Patients go days without medications and its frustrating whern you care.  Employees have zero chance of advancement.  The level of stress you will experience here is beyond incomprehensible.  Your "coworkers" are cut throat and will go straight to the supervisor and are so quick to act on your error.  There is no level of trust between management and employees.  If you have a heart and care about patients...go elsewhere.  It's frustrating and management does nothing about it.  HR is not about the employee, they're about covering their butts and that's it.  I highly recommend you look elsewhere for meaningful employment.

Typically morning is busy preparing first starts for surgery, it is chaotic with multiple disciplines  working together in a tight space. People are frequently bumping into each other, interrupting, and talking over one another. It is fight for flight for a few hours before it dies down to boredom. There is no designated area to relax, you are lucky to get a chair and may settle for leaning against the counter or wall. Someone will surely talk down to you each shift or talk behind your back. There is no loyalty or respect. Compensation is demeaning! Coming from Massachusetts where education is valued and salary is much more respected it is very disrespectful. I however chose to leave the 8 months of grayness behind for sunshine and better quality of life but am feeling undervalued as an educated RN of 28 years.  I continue to get up 4 mornings a week at 4:45am to work my 11 hour shifts begrudgingly. 

Unsafe nurse-patient ratios, no patient care technicians, outdated or broken equipment everywhere. Facility invested in renovating the building but nothing else, and the HR department is negligent. They didn’t even activate their hurricane teams for nursing staff during the worst hurricane we’ve experienced in decades, they expected the nurses to drive back and forth in the middle of the storm. They closed their transport center so expect charge nurses to pick up the slack, case management is rarely present, you have to beg doctors to speak with their patients/families, and they fired all their transporters and expect nurses to move patients to new rooms and procedures — leaving other patients unsupervised. They also expect RN’s to audit their coworkers charting every month, on top of our already heavy load. 

Company hires above what another facility in the area offers, but with inferior benefits and poor management. Then does not provide appropriate raises, even to keep up with increases in cost of benefits or market.
Withholds important information especially with regards to payment, does not pay out holiday hours or sick time without a battle. Will not allow for donation of sick time, cash out, or utilization of it without a banked amount of 64 hours, but does not disclose this to employees prior to agreeing to 36 hour per week contracts.
OFTEN makes errors with pay and will not correct timely.

Dumps additional responsibilities on other departments or team members when someone quits or a new area is opened, then never compensates or hires for the role.

I could go on for hours about how terrible this company has been to work for in the last 4.5 years, but long story short- RUNNNNN.


What is the best part of working at the company?
I have been working on Physician Regional Hospital since 2015 at different departments and positions. Always l see the opportunity to move on carrier , and Physician give me a lot of it! So far I achieved a lot , Hospital give you a lot of opportunities. This is a place where we improve and save people’s lives !

Start with huddle at 7am where we share our day with our patients and staff and day is dynamic after it!

Bi weekly pay .  In general most people are pleasantly nice    Nice cafeteria food with a variety of different options.  

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
Constant micromanaging.   Very cliquey unit.  Management has their fav people and fraternizing relationships with them which is not productive.  Constant change 

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
Nothing.   No break room , not able to stay hydrated on shift or eat properly.  I feel like many short cuts are made.  Expired equipment. Constantly being micromanaged on the daily !  Just unnerving!

Insane pt assignments.   Unsafe .  Constant hurrying of the patient

It was call-center; responsible for taking inbound calls for their clinics.  The first 3 days were very stressful to me because their training was very brief and there is a ton of little details about performing the job effectively and efficiently that was not covered in training.  I needed to obtain the necessary info on my own and added significantly to the existing job-aids provided to me in training.  However, once this was done, the 4th day and onward was a breeze due to my invaluable job-aids!  Very relaxed type of management, and he had an open-door policy if you need to communicate with him in-person and electronically.  Even when he was not physically present, he was available.  The co-workers were very open to assisting the newbies when they can.

the managers are great people but often overworked and tired. always some kind of petty drama. most employees, especially schedulers, are drowned in work , often spending hours a week in overtime trying to catch up with very little support. nurses are spread thin, and doctors go without nurses or someone to room for them. turnover is high, especially for front desk because of belligerent and rude patients- managers often support employees during patient/employee conflict, which is nice. yearly raises are great, and often reflect position standards across multiple healthcare facilities. 

some doctors have a holier-than-thou take on things, and have been heard speaking poorly about patients while they're in the room, which is unprofessional and uncomfortable.
