I used to be eager to learn and start to flourish here, but that wasn't the case. You're limited in your abilities to find and implement solutions, and the other departments meant to do that are super slow about it. I've seen things move much faster in this industry because I've been the one to move them along! When accidents prevent you from making it to work on time, no matter how on time you left, no matter the re-route you tried to take to move through traffic, because the accident was terrible, they will know the accident happened on your route, and you will receive an occurrence. During your 90-day probation period, forget being considered human; you'd better not have an emergency that requires you to leave work, or any other life situation where you're getting the same short notice you're giving. You will receive an occurrence, and they will sit with you to offer solutions to the inevitable emergent situations of life, and then write you up.  Sure, be on time, but when it's totally beyond your control, they do not care. They promote 'care' and 'solution for success', but the policies govern everything beyond understanding. Everything is an occurrence if you don't have a medical reason, for yourself, for the absence. You can't talk on your phone in the breakroom because people don't have enough to do in their lives, and they will tell management about it. Real-life adult tattle tales are who you will be interacting with. You literally have to go outside to take a quick call, and you will need to clock out as well, depending on the situation, and you only have one 15-minute break. Policies don't make sense and will take away small bits of some people's joys in life. Everything is about productivity, but the workflow of the department is less than satisfactory. Processes are far outdated,  and time is wasted doing things that could be at your fingertips for task completion. They choose to be spotty about efficiency and opt to stay manual, slow, and pointless. Federal laws are not being honored, putting patients at a disadvantage who, by FEDERAL LAW, should not be billed. When your thoughts and opinions don't align with those of certain individuals in management or if you challenge them in any way, you will receive pushback in the form of catty, unprofessional behavior. They may ignore certain questions and hope you don't say anything else about it. If you're too assertive or clarity seeking with ample questions, you could be labeled as 'combative'. I was stressed working here, and my life dynamic was a factor, but it's also my number 1 priority, no matter where I work. I am a human before an employee every single day. I refused to continue to work for a company that dug a hole for me to fall into. I asked for accommodation for reasons that were beyond anyone's control; but also to make sure I would be in good standing attendance-wise after a period of time when safety was the priority. The preventive measure that could have been granted was denied at their discretion for skewed and discriminatory reasons. I wholeheartedly believe they knew what they were doing in that situation and that I would inevitably be fired, so I quit and was happy and free after. Unless you are airtight with attendance and good working past foolishness, don't apply. During orientation, it was said to "stay a long time", in a tone that indicated high turnover happens often. It makes perfect sense.

A typical day at work consist of posting most dental payments for various carriers. Calling insurance companies to research  denied claims or missing payments. Follow up on delayed insurance payments. Taking patient calls and answering any questions or reconciling any patient and insurance concerns. I have learned what a true team looks like and how smoothly things run when everyone is working together with the same mission and goal in mind. Management has done a great job in preparing me for more detailed and difficult positions that I may have the privilege of being in one day. Management has helped me grow as a professional career woman. The hardest part of my job used to be multitasking. It used to throw me off when I was interrupted from doing a specific task and then asked to research something else. I believe I have overcome this challenge. By changing my outlook on the issue I was able to appreciate the challenge and realize that I can multitask and get more done while also maintaining efficiency. The most enjoyable part of my job is being able to be a part of my team. We all play an intricate part on the team and being able to enhance my strengths while also developing my weakness with a team that encourages growth and learning is something that i have never experienced before. To work with such amazing people is an honor and I have become a better professional for it.

When I initially stated with the company I felt energized and ready to help others especially given the organization's history. However, it became obvious to me that those in upper management couldn't care less about helping those less fortunate or those that faced financial difficulties. 
At first the job and workload was manageable but slowly more duties and unspoken expectations were piled on with no hope of advancement, a raise, or praise. In my short tenure, the departmental turnover rate was astronomical. 
At first departmental leadership and upper management at large presented themselves as helpful and responsive. Over time it was obvious that management and leadership is ineffective and slow to respond to serious issues. 
The job initially was not hard however when patient's became problematic and disrespectful to the staff and the providers management would acquiesce to patient's demands.
The only thing positive about the job was my coworkers and certain supervisors that would support one another through out the day. 
I learned a lot during my time with the company . However, I could not foresee myself returning to the company in any capacity. It definitely would be an eye opening experience to those that seek to learn the basics of healthcare and patient care. I would not encourage anyone to consider Piedmont Health Services as a long term employer. 

Let it first be said that the ideal on which PHS was founded is of the most  noble. That said, the ideal is where it all comes to a screeching halt. There is no true vision of direction from leadership.  Frequently shifting middle management creates constant unease. The "what's next" tension is palpable. So, too,is the absolute knowledge that one day soon one of your very talented co workers will have had enough of the disdain with which we're treated. One 12 hr shift turns into 2 and one weekend rotation magically morphs to 3 as the sinking ship takes on more water in the form of mass exodus turnover. From this,though, nothing is learned. PHS offers up the next trinket in order to momentarily fain the natives before blatantly using any surpluses on million dollar machines in the pharmacy or taking on a parking lot beautification process all while clinical staff can't make their patients comfortable because the exam beds are broken. The only meaningful raise you'll receive is the raise in your blood pressure. Having to choose between loving what you do and the people with whom you do it and mental health threatening conditions brought on by constantly moving goalposts shouldn't be anyone's waking thought. But it's mine.  

PHS' game is all about being seen, rather than actually "doing". They are so far afield from their mission in term of patient care that it makes those who choose the work for the mission less mission-oriented. Corporate is so dysfunctional that they lower the morale of the staff. PHS won't fire anyone, they'll just promote them or move them to another position, keeping the dysfunction in place. On the surface, Piedmont look like they have it together - they know the buzzwords and make it seem like they're moving forward and are innovators. Beware - they are not innovators; rather they are imposters. 

If you want to work for an organization that shows promise, where your ideas will  be valued, where there will be opportunities for advancement and leadership to look up to and respect, look elsewhere. The program is diseased.

I was hired for a new room and the rules changed every few days if not every day. The RT was really unsure of how to run the new room but instead of working as a team to solve problems that arose she would take disciplinary action against me then change the rules.  Management really showed favoritism on who they would enforce certain rules on and who they wouldn't. Lots of gossip among the staff. Lots of people just not wanting to work. Job expectation became unrealistic. lots of positions due to people quiting and being fired within their 90 days. Unprofessional, unorganized, and at times hostile work environment. They were very sneaky. If you did something they wouldn't speak to you then they would write you up 2 weeks later. When I was asked to resign they refused to give me specific reason as with other people who they have fired within their 90days.

Horrible company to work for. They are in a financial hole and are not doing well. Employees are over worked, moral is low. There are some good apples in the bunch that care about the population they serve. However, the majority especially management are awful people and horrible leaders. I agree with other reviews that if you are not a “favorite” you are not treated well. The entire organization is toxic, they all gossip and talk behind each other’s backs, they are petty, and they have no integrity. There is no collaboration, if someone has the chance to walk all over you to make themselves look better they will. The organization is sickly and corrupt. I wish I could get back the time and emotions I put into working here. If you are a good person this is not the company for you. Take heed!

If you are not a favorite of management you will not get any time off.There Are no raises no matter how hard or how long you work for the company. They will tell you that you will be off at five but that is a lie. They expect you to stay til late and then will write you up for working unauthorized overtime. If you are a good employee and you care about the patients they will take advantage of you. You will have to pick up the slack of other employees that are favorites and have worked there for years. The “favorite employees” will leave their work area and be gone sometimes for more than 30 minutes and leave you to struggle with the line of patients that has gathered. But management will pretend to not notice and say nothing to these employees. It’s not a healthy place to work. Puts to much stress on you and you get overworked and underpaid.

This company has the potential to become a great place but:
-The primary people that visit this place speak other languages than English. Management will not hire bilingual individuals.
- Management makes you feel like you have to be part of the elite in order to be heard. Lots of favoritism going around, forget about working hard if you are part of the "it" crowd you won't have to.
-They offer you PTO but there are not enough individuals to cover for any given position.
- They will hire people with no experience and no will to learn just to lose good people to them because of frustration.  
- you will almost never have to worry about getting fired. they never fire anyone.
I can keep going on, and on but what good is going to come out of it. 
Just be aware of the situation.



As a healthcare professional for over 15 years,  this is the most unorganized company I've ever worked for.  Management and HR are a joke.  If you are not a "favorite " employee they will make your life miserable,  you will be bulley'd, you will be unappreciated,  you will be disrespected, and they will find any reason to fire you.  The providers and patients are great.  PHS makes you feel like you are doing good work,  and you are,  but they however are not.  They are all about Money, and do not follow their mission,  vision out cultural statements.  

Do not waste your time applying here,  you will be underpaid and over worked. They have a very high turnover rate and struggle to keep medical assistants, nurses and PCC's.
