What is the best part of working at the company?
Zero stars… truly. This company manages to pay less than minimum wage without technically saying it out loud. Almost every call goes to voicemail, so you sit there refreshing the queue for hours just to maybe land a $7 call that rarely happens. If you’re expecting real income, lower your expectations immediately.

Management micromanages everything and talks to adults like misbehaving middle-schoolers. Instead of actual leadership, you get nitpicking and constant pressure over tiny details that don’t even impact performance. The energy feels less like a workplace and more like a revolving door.

And yes, unpaid training. Huge red flag. They seem to mass-hire waves of people just to keep bodies in seats, then quietly cut them for the smallest reasons. The turnover is nonstop.

If you value your time, your sanity, or basic respect, skip this company entirely.

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
The most stressful part is the constant pressure to perform in a system that makes success nearly impossible. Calls rarely connect, income is inconsistent, and management focuses more on nitpicking minor details than actually supporting employees. There’s a constant feeling of instability due to high turnover and unrealistic expectations, which creates an exhausting and frustrating work environment.

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
Management comes across more focused on control than growth, and with the nonstop waves of new hires, it often feels like people are replaceable rather than valued. Overall, the environment is tense, transactional, and not built for long-term success. 

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
A typical day is mostly sitting in the queue waiting for calls that rarely connect, constantly refreshing and hoping for something that actually pays. When a call does come through, there’s pressure to perform perfectly while knowing management will nitpick the smallest details afterward. It feels repetitive, slow, and frustrating.

They say that you'll get paid $18 an hour but you won't. You only get paid for times you are talking to patients, regardless of the fact that you are logged in and trying to call patients but there are no calls for like 10 minute stretches at a time. Also, if you're scheduled and logged in for an hour trying to make calls but there are only calls available for 30 minutes they will only pay you for 30 minutes. Then they will add up the hours you were able to make calls and calculate you're hourly rate based on that. So if you were logged in and trying to make calls for two hours but calls were only available for an hour, they will pay you $18 and say your getting paid $18 an hour when you were really working for 2 hours at $9 an hour. They also make calls available every 12 or so minutes so it's more likely that there will be chunks of time when people are logged in doing nothing and not getting paid.  They say they require you to have a 90QA score then if you ask questions about the pay rate, or work fewer hours, but still meet the hour requirements,  they will fail your calls for something as little as saying "the pharmacy" instead of "pharmacy". They also  purposely fail your calls and lower your QA or quality rating score so they don't have to pay you the $125 training bonus, and because your overall pay rate is based on your QA score. They also are very vague about the pay rate on purpose. You will see it's not on the application/job description and even the explanation they provide during training is incomplete and unclear.  They work really hard to try and make you work really hard for very low pay. 

Minimum 30 hr weeks as of 2023, yet pay is commission based
Claims to be warm calls, however many patients will tell you they've never heard of the program
Frequent technical issues that management will blame on you but coworkers will tell you are problems for them as well in the system
Incredibly condescending management with unrealistic expectations
Pay is between $2 - $8 for each completed call depending on the program, but you do not get paid for hours with no answers or reschedules
Hourly pay incentives ($14/hour for 20-30 hours of work, $16/hour for 4 hours worked on Saturdays) are hard to track as it is calculated through "time in record" and dials per hour without having any innate way of knowing those numbers
Poor communication from upper management
Pay is never on the same day(s) every month. incentives get paid on seemingly random pay checks
Flexible hours, so long as it is between 9am Eastern and 8pm Pacific and there are calls in your queue
Constantly running out of calls in queue, then reprimanded for not meeting contractual hours worked.
When faced with an irate patient, expect to be reprimanded by management for not putting up with it

There are some good things about this company.  This could be an amazing place to work. Thorough, self paced training and reasonable management. You have a flexible schedule and set your own hours. After your nesting period, you work independently for the most part.  The expectation is to keep your QA score at 90%. You are an independent contractor. The work is meaningful and you feel like you are making a difference in the lives of those with chronic illness. 

The downside of this job is that the call volume is inconsistent. Sometimes it’s very high then other times extremely low. The odd commission based pay is low for the QA expectations.  They often hire too many people and don’t have enough hours or work for everyone.  They don’t make people who have been there awhile priority for hours. You cannot make this your full time gig. It’s just supplemental income. 

My advice to ownership / high up management would be to retain your good contractors, pay them a living wage  and make sure there are enough hours for everyone. Hourly pay would be nice. This a very stingy way to do business and treat people who are on the front lines serving the patients everyday. If you treat  your people well, they will stay and be loyal to your company. 


I’ve had a really positive experience working here so far. The onboarding process was straightforward and the team was very supportive while I was getting started. This is a flexible work from home opportunity, which I really appreciate since I can set my own schedule.

The role is performance-based, so you do need to stay consistent and put in the effort, but if you’re motivated, it can definitely be worth it. I also like that there’s ongoing communication and help available if you have questions.

Overall, this is a good fit for someone who is self-driven and looking for flexible income from home.

This place is atrocious. They are constantly hiring people, but there are no calls. The busy times are 8 and 9 am EST and 6-7 PM EST. Even then, you MIGHT get 30 minutes of calls. It's rare that I made more than $13 an hour. 

You will be fighting with tenured people for Mounjaro calls. There are some people there who have all sorts of programs. We were told that come July calls would be busy again! Now it's maybe this month... or soon? By the end of the year they want 500 Goodstarters because they anticipate being soooo busy. 

Maybe stop overhiring now and take care of the Goodstarters you have? 

The training is a JOKE. They do not adequately prepare you for calls you might get. The scripts are SO long and wordy. Only do this if you have no other choice. Be prepared to be dinged for whatever reason on calls, but you can't listen to the issues they claim you had. 

Pleio uses only independent contract workers. They hired several people in the early part of 2019 because they were expecting to bring on a new client. I believe they anticipated finalization of that contract in March. As of July, this is not yet in place.

Pleio is fantastic for work/life balance.
You select the times you work based on available hours.
Right now, a new agent is lucky to get 8-10 hours per week.

Pay is based on completed calls. If the people you are calling do not answer the phone, there is no pay regardless of how many hours you are scheduled and actively calling.

Per the company monthly reports, the average (including tenured agents) is approximately $14 per hour. I believe that is true when there is enough work.

This job is contract-based, and you have the flexibility to choose your own hours. However, there are many downtimes that can be nerve-wracking. Patients who are unfamiliar with the program can get angry and upset, which can be challenging. Moreover, people can be rude and often hang up. Unfortunately, you don't get paid for hang-ups, callbacks, or no responses. The reality is that you're trying to help people, but it can be tedious and time-consuming. There's a lot of waiting around and hoping to make a successful call. The payment is commission-based and is paid once a month. Sadly, I had to leave this job as it was quite demanding with nothing much to show for it.

If you have time (lots of time) and a perfect wifi connection, maybe give it a try.
I've seen other GoodStarters in the social group chat saying how this job helps them a lot financially. You work for Pleio as a contractor, which means besides paying you for your work, no other benefits are provided. The pay/compensation system should be reviewed. You have to make a minimum of 30 dials/hour to be qualified for the compensation. If you don't, all you earn at the end of the pay period is your completed calls, which you only have 1-2/hour. Sometimes, none. To make 30 dials/hour, you need to be focused, constantly dial, and have a bit of luck because the website on which you work can get laggy and slow.
