Polera is an organization with many ideas but no clear direction as to how to implement them.  Starting several projects at once is the norm whether or not there is staff, funding or actual buildings/structures available to achieve the newest idea the Managers have in mind.  
Communications between departments and staff members was poor; once we had an emergency in one building which required a shelter in place situation, and the way the rest of the organization (including ones in the same building) were notified was by email.  If you were able to check your email you were lucky and understood why there was law enforcement all over the parking lot.  The rest of us had no clue.  
Support is lacking from management.   Would be beneficial to have managers who have credentials other than social work.  
Shifts vary from 8-12 hours depending on the department you are in.  Most staff members do care and try hard to keep up, yet being short staffed is unfortunately the norm.   Patient acuity is high in inpatient unit and can be dangerous when short staffed.  



Polara Health is a caring, supporting organization to work for.  Upper management cares for the staff and their well-being (that is evident in the 3 weeks of PTO and 10 holidays).  The last 2 years have been more difficult in this industry due to the increased amount of people needing services.  Polara Health recognizes this and appreciates all that its employees give and do.

Polara Health is a 24/7 organization with opportunities to work M-F 8am - 5pm, swing-shifts, night shifts, weekends, remotely, etc.  They are a large organization in Yavapai County with 350 employees that receive amazing benefits and a supportive environment.  Polara Health works with the most vulnerable population, both children and adults.  Working in this industry is very rewarding, you are making a difference and you are connecting with people.

I really thought that a company of this size would have processes and organization down, but they failed miserably.

Everybody is out for themselves and only fake interest in asking you how your day is. There's no real training set in place, just a few days of going over the general business rules and procedures, then into your department you go. 

Horrible morale, management only focuses on what you're doing wrong and never giving you any praise for what you're doing well. If you have any issues, there's no one to talk to and they don't ever take the time to talk to you and hear your side of anything. Always asked to work through lunch breaks, when OT is allowed you'll only be criticized for what you DON'T do, but never communicated with on what they expect. 

Wouldn't recommend that place to anyone unless you are greedy, manipulative, and like being miserable daily.

This place will squeeze the life straight out of you. They will get other departments to do their job, there hardly is any teamwork among other departments. It’s like pulling teeth to get some to respond to emails. This is certainly NOT the same job it was when I was hired a couple years ago. 
 Upper management will turn on you with a snap of your fingers if you are not playing by their rules, trust me I’ve seen this firsthand. So if you don’t feel like being run over by the bus or you just don’t care, choose your sides wisely and chin up. 
There is also a lot of tattling and back stabbing so be careful who you are speaking with.
They hire more for other departments and expand, and neglect others while they drown in their workload. 

I have worked at Polara Health for over 10 years. I started out pretty low on the totem pole and have worked my way up through the years. I love that the company encourages advancement and is open to position changes.  Benefits are good with options for medical, vision, dental, etc...PTO is better than most places. My supervisor is awesome! She listens, advises and is supportive of her staff. Co-workers are great and there is a true "team" atmosphere which has been much needed especially over the last few years with Covid. Everyone pitches in to help each other out. 

What is the best part of working at the company?
POLARA Health show employees appreciation in different ways. Bonuses at times, recognition of employee of the month and other way as well. I love working for POLARA Health!

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
At times POLARA Health can get quite busy and for some people this can be stressful. 

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
We all get along at the site I work in and I feel like the other employees are good team players. 

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
At the site I work in, the day is busy on most days and it makes the day go by faster. Some days are slower than others.

I worked for this company for over a decade in three different positions and experienced the same struggles in each department. Really good coworkers, but the negativity from the top drips down and infects all the attitudes. The training is just awful, a process that has constantly been in development and has never been sorted out. There are some good people in leadership but there are some that are so out of touch it's painful. In my last role as a children's case manager it felt like the only way to survive was to be one of the "popular people." Whether the agency wants to admit it or not, if you don't click with the right people in charge, you will never fit in or be properly supported.

What is the best part of working at the company?
I love working with patients who have serious mental health needs. However, the organizational leadership is focused on social work rather than holistic nursing practice of which patients trust.

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
POOR on-boarding, training which led to a high-turnover rate and poor staffing. It was dangerous.

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
The culture at Windhaven was, "Watch your back."

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
A typical day at Windhaven was showing up to work and 1/2 the staff called off or quit.

What is the best part of working at the company?
Fellow Associates.  Modern facility 

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
Patient population.  Normal for psychiatric/ behavioral health. Must be prepared for anything.  Normal for any hospital 

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
Caring culture.  Environment is typical and expected challenges with different personalities in the unique behavioral health  population.  

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
Rewarding.  Can be stressful.  But, everything eventually ends.  So, feels good

I have worked for Polara Health almost 3 years and have had an overall wonderful experience working here. There are advancement opportunities for staff that have leadership aspirations. Our Leaders and co-workers are supportive in developing our staff and providing guidance with difficult situations we all face in this field. For me, it is important that where I work aligns with my career goals, passion, and my overall self-improvement. Since I started, I have been able to satisfy all of those needs.
