Power Plus

The management at power plus leaves lots to be desired. They can’t even run their own lives let alone mange a business. They try to hide things from you such as on call pay. They hid that from me until I found out I was supposed to get it. Then they paid me for it once then never again. I feel like I was played the whole time I worked for this company. It depends on who you know not what you know. Too many favorites that get everything while you will get nothing in return working here. No raises. You can’t even get a review. It’s like pulling teeth to get a raise. Will not match offers you receive from other companies. They just say good luck and ignore you after you tell them you have better offerthe office people make more than the techs do it’s a big game to them. Not a job you want to take unless your desperate.

A typical day at work consisted of servicing the customers in the construction industry buy taking phone orders and making site visits

I learned a lot about the construction industry and the materials used to supply utilities to construction sites.

The management team was knowledgeable and encouraged productivity.

The workplace culture could range from relaxed to fast paced depending on the season. You could spend a lot of time at work, so the people you worked with were like a second family.

The hardest part of the job was the long hours but the most enjoyable part of the job was the learning experience.

This company is a revolving door, no field tech has stayed longer than about 2 years (willingly) there is no career ladder here just pure hard heavy labor for cheap pay. They will not pay extra for having higher level credentials. The work is highly dangerous as well. I would make this place your last option when choosing to start a electrical career and would not even consider this place if you are a journeyman.If you also want a manager who disrespects your time off for injury’s occurring under HIS watch , a boss who will disrespect you every other day, sign right up! 

Clock in at 6:30am, go in talk with manager to findout what the days assisgnments are. Once we findout those assignments we load the trucks up with the materials we need to get the job done.
 I've learned working with Power Plus the importance of safety, how to set poles, hang and pull cable on poles, how to set meters how much ampereage they pull. How to communicate with customers, how to solve problems troubleshoot.
The hardest part of my job is when it rains work is slow conditions can be horable and dangerous.
I enjoy learning working with amps,volts,meters,setting pole my type of work.

Zero investment in this market from the company. Cheap internet "microsite" is their only means of "advertising" and that can be found on page 3 or 4 of any search engine. No business development in the past 8 years.  You'll have a closet for an office (not a joke).  A place to start if you're fresh out of school but not if you want to make money. Lastly, extremely expensive insurance.

It’s a starter company they will not offer reasonable pay and will negotiate you’re hourly rate low saying you’ll make more with over time. 

Health insurance is low quality and Every year it gets worse as they find the cheapest health provider.

They will not help you succeed, you will get thrown to the wolfs. They will not help you get educated to grow as an individual. It benefits them to keep you at a certain level. There’s a lot of favoritism with people from there church.

I liked it here co-workers were very helpful taught me everything they knew. I was promoted to foreman within a year ran my own crew never had any problems with driving or long hours the OT is where u made ur money. the only problem I had was I was here for almost 8 yrs and only received 1 pay raise. Whenever I would ask for a raise all I got was the same answer which was we were in a resección and the company couldn't afford to give raises at that time.

Everyone talks to each other with no respect. If your an installer you will get left out of company lunches because you’re out in the field busting your butT while all the shop and office employees or munching on “paid by the company “ good food and when you get back they did not even save  enough for half the installers,let alone all of them. Funny being the only way they keep business is because of installers  going

Working for Power Plus was an enjoyable experience.  I picked up many new skills including electrical/mechanical maintenance and repair, equipment operation, shipping and receiving, as well as warehouse logistics and organization.  I was also afforded many volunteer opportunities that have had a profound impact on my life.  I am grateful for my time at Power Plus.

Lots of OT available and mostly mandatory. That'd be my only gripe, I learned a lot of valuable information and made some cool friends there but I want to advance my career and not work such long hours.
