I interviewed for a position and was hired. Once I got into the company, there were several issues.  First, the position I interviewed for and the position I was put into were two very different positions.  The person training me set goals to be met that were moving targets.  There was no way to achieve the goals and this was observed by one of the better managers at the company.  There are departments being ran by people who fundamentally don't understand the functions.  The company was being held hostage by one employee who was allowed to implement their own operating procedures and was protected because the one time they received a negative comment on a review, they made everyone's life miserable by slowing down every process and doing the minimal amount of work for weeks.  So they let this person get away with petty demands.  They are understaffed and management appears more intent on pocketing more money than the well-being of their staff.  There were many employees there that were great and trying to do their best, but the way things were managed, they were overworked and often caught in the internal politics and game playing.  Management was under the impression that files for projects were kept in one of two places.  However, in reality, files were all over the place and some just didn't exist.  Most of my time was spent trying to find needed files so I could generate deliverables that should have the work of a different department,  but because that department was not being managed properly, their jobs fell to others to complete. Meanwhile, I found many people had copies of files in their own folders because complaints about locating files fell on deaf ears. Management had views of what was happening in their department that was formed solely from the views of one or two individuals playing office politics in order to advance in the company. While the science there was of good quality, I witnessed some practices that were clearly unethical. Private upper management meetings could be heard several rooms away. The stress of being unable to access needed files and dealing with mismanagement, took a toll on my health. This in part could have been avoided had the position been as it was promised to be. But even then, the rest of the issues would still have made the work miserable.

The current supervisors are horrible.
Everything about this place is a horrible mashup of detached management and toxic leaders enabling other toxic leaders to make team members feel constantly miserable and unappreciated. There are constantly contradictions whenever told to focus on quality, yet we're told they know we can be more productive and do more. The team can't even help each other out without being looked at like we're just chatting and wasting time. The way we're talked to is accusatory and demeaning while also expecting us to do better. We're micromanaged and threatened that it can be even more scrutinizing than it already is. Misinformation given by a supervisor one day that can get us in trouble the next, with only the tech to blame. Nothing is as simple as it should be, there are so many deviations and things that don't work efficiently, yet aren't priority fixes. Bringing any concerns about immediate management to upper management is no use. Supervisors are oblivious to what is being done wrong management  wise. which gives the team no hope of positive change.  Upper management tries to get more productivity and yet they know we are extremely understaffed. Morale on the team is at it's lowest due to the environment the supervisors create, yet the team continues to collaborate with each other to make up for bad delegation and planning. This toxic unorganized place has seen new hires quit back to back because of the training and environment. Commercial department at the moment is the worst place that I've ever worked.

There’s nothing good about working for this company anymore.

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
The most stressful thing about this job? Literally everything. Zero support, constant pressure, terrible communication, and management that somehow makes every situation worse instead of better. Working with Chitra specifically made the experience unbearable. I’ve never worked somewhere so draining mentally and emotionally. Would not recommend to anyone.

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
The work culture here is honestly exhausting. There’s no sense of teamwork, communication is poor, and employees are made to feel replaceable rather than valued. Management creates a stressful environment where favoritism and lack of accountability are common. Instead of feeling motivated, most days felt mentally draining.

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
Exhausting. A typical day is chaotic, stressful, and completely disorganized. You’re constantly expected to handle unrealistic workloads with little to no support while management adds pressure instead of solutions. Every day feels like putting out fires while being blamed for things outside of your control.

This company is growing rapidly and consistently adding new business. This creates a fast paced work environment with little down time making the work day pass quickly. Management reward hard work and always provides opportunities to take on more responsibility and move up within the company. The variety of new tasks also leads to a large variety of learning opportunities. Work is typically independent in nature after the initial training allowing you to develop your own work flow and manage your own time. Managers keep themselves available for procedural questions throughout the day. People are easy to get along with and everyone ,whether they are in your department or not, is willing to answer your questions.  With the fast growth of the company there are definitely growing pains that are sometimes felt as a lack in organization  in the research roles as priorities can shift rapidly. Issues resulting from these shifts though are typically resolved quickly. Pay scales have seen some major adjustments in the past year with certain roles being overlooked resulting in pay standards that do not correlate to experience where educational requirements are involved, favoring the entry level jobs.

I work as part of the Operations Team in the Frozen Lab. I access both Mechanical freezers (-81) and LN2 freezer (-160) to inventory bio specimens. I open, recieve and record incoming shipments along with co-workers. I also pull specimens for Requisitions as requested by clients. The specimens that I work with are HIV positive, Hep C, MS and other diseases that are kept under controlled conditions for research purposes. 

All tasks are performed per SOP's (Standard Operating Procedures).  I work very well within a team environment and I usually learn something new everyday. There is quite a lot of detail and very little room for error. I would say that is the hardest part of the job; staying very focused when there is a fair amount of activity all around. 

The position is physically active but not overly so which I like.  I work with many people with impressive Bio degrees and I come from an Administrative background which make things a bit more challenging for me.

The entire culture, lack of tools, training, processes and unprofessionalism. There are never adequate resources available to get your work done. The turnover rate is very high and Clients are walking away daily. That creates an environment of high anxiety and uncertainty that's difficult to perform in. It's also impossible to perform under a team of young, emotional, inexperienced managers/directors. If you're an experienced professional, you'll recognize it as a joke and keep job searching. If you're fresh out of college with a science degree, you can definitely get some experience under some very smart people (by very smart, I'm referring to some of the Scientist). If you can train yourself and tolerate management, you can survive for maybe a year. Your check will never be late. Just keep your resume updated.

Unfortunately, it's a hostile environment that I wouldn't recommend to anyone. I say unfortunate because there are some really smart industry experts there. However, there efforts are overshadowed by the disorganized, toxic environment.

Being demeaned by upper management who can barley do their own job and leaning  on your coworkers (the only people who will actually help you)

Management: 
Horrible, very unprofessional, the management is very unprofessional they can barley do their job and speak to employees as if we are their terrible two’s toddlers, the management here take no accountability and don’t even think about going to higher ups for intervention this place is filled with enablers that talk down even on other higher ups it’s quite unbelievable

Workplace culture: Besides management coworkers are very helpful to each other … as they should be they’re all the have at that job 

The hardest part of the job: Realizing the you made the biggest mistake taking a job here. Stress, stress, and more stress

Least toxic job I've worked, but has been going downhill. They went way over budget on unnecessary renovations and are trying to save costs by making it worse for the bottom-tier employees. The people/culture are pretty good and they're flexible with schedules, which are the two things that make the job worth it. The work is extremely boring, but that's more of a personal preference sort of thing. The pay is awful and the end-of-year raises they'll tell you about are nothing, you get cents. The end of year bonus isn't bad. The government and commercial sides are very different, and the commercial side appears to be run substantially worse. They also said there would be a lot of opportunities to grow within the company, which isn't really true unless you want a team lead sort of position, and even then that's only if one opens. All in all,  it could be much worse, but it still isn't very good.

The career opportunities are outstanding as the company continues to grow.  The work culture is very positive and collaboration within your team, with other teams onsite and even with global teams is very rewarding.  With the exception of entry level roles, this is a very faced paced environment so prioritization and ability to multitask is a must but management and peers are very supportive as we all are working towards the same goal - supporting the success of clinical trials!

I love my job and my rock star team.
