I have been an Employee of PSL for 7.5 years and I can honestly say this is a great Company to work for! I started working for a location of PSL's, in the Dining Department. With hard work and diligence, which was not gone unnoticed, have earned my way through Administration. There are plenty of opportunities for growth within- it comes down to where you want to be! PSL offers a great program to those that want to further their education and training. Not only do you get to further your knowledge and grow as a person, you actually get raises for learning! Their benefits are really great as well, including College Tuition Assistance while you go to school- not after, like you often see. They really want to help you learn and grow! 
     The staff and residents come together as a family, and you really do look forward to each day! Management will listen and help you with not just work issues, but life issues (they actually have an employee assistance program to help you get in touch with people that can help you) so you can be the person you want to be. Everyone has life stresses- not many Companies will work with you through them though.
     I can honestly say the most enjoyable part of your job- is really getting to know the residents. They look forward to your face, just as much as you look forward to theirs- you really get the feel of the family environment. There is so much knowledge and information they can talk about- take a minute and listen to their stories- they are amazing!!
Every job has it's ups and downs- it's what you do with those ups and downs that matter. 



What is the best part of working at the company?
Nothing…this is the absolutely worst place I have ever worked for. As a smart, talented and educated individual this place treats not only it’s staff like garbage but also it’s residents. I honestly would not put any time or effort into working here. The administration is awful. I have never wrote a review as honest as this one nor have I ever really listened to reviews but I should of for this place. The worst “opportunity” of my life. 

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
The lies from the employer. You are promised one thing after another to then have it go and change. From pay to schedule to responsibilities to pto, all of it is just terrible.

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
The nursing staff is outgoing and many will work with you and realize your potential and try to help you succeed. However, the rest of the culture from administration to social work are awful representatives of the organization. 

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
You do not know, constantly short staff and assignments changed. At one point I was the only one in the building to care for 60+ residents between care tasks and medication administration, completely unsafe. Would not risk my license or future at this place.

The floor staff do not look out for each other even when it effects a resident. There are constantly call-offs and if you are the shift prior you are required to stay an additional shift. Director was a joke, I have never seen anyone so unorganized and so flighty about her position. No interview process, if you show up, pass a drug test and the physical, the job is yours. There was a considerable amount of complaints that are never addressed. When working the floor there were never enough supplies for the caregivers. I ended up purchasing my own disposable gloves. Little to no training for the staff. The food is absolutely horrible and the residents do complain often. The kitchen staff is verbally abusive toward the staff and residents. The upside is the place is set up nice for the residents and has the potential to be a great place, if the have a complete turnover of management.

The ED didn't want to hear any issues you were having. This job sucks the life out of you. you can never do enough for them. they want you 24/7. they don't care if you have a family, friends, boyfriend, nope. And heaven forbid a friend stops by to help you out....the accusations are terrible. And kept going. What PSL employees and who they spend their time with after work, is none of their business. The ED brings in other staff members to tattle.  nothing is confidential. Corporate doesn't care about us. its all about filling those beds - Go team! and lets not forget the PCA was written up for being too rough with residents, many times, but she gets moved to housekeeping. What is going on here? taking their food away before they are done? not enough staff, residents soaked, feces falling out, they smell, the rooms smell. its disgusting

This is the most unorganized facility to work, management covering their mistakes and neglect towards residents when owners come to visit and the state comes in, over worked under paid not appreciated short on staff members in all departments.  The Human resource is a bully no open door policy for staff to go Express their concerns they don't care if you have children and family as long as there beds are filled.  THIS PLACE SHOULD BE SHUT DOWN , ONE AIDE ON THE FLOOR SOMETIMES TO KEEP TRACT THE STAFF YELL AT RESIDENTS AND SWEAR AT THEM , I AM LOOKING FOR A NEW JOB WERE THERE IS INCENTIVES , APPRECIATED,  ORGANIZED.

Management is poor unorganized, they neglect the residents over worked understaffed if I knew know what I see, hear I would of never applied here or step foot on this property .

Do not waste your time working here.  If they like you, they keep you, if they don't, (which seems to be the majority of the time in certain departments like activities), they set you up to fail, therefore very poor work culture.  I had to watch my back consistently the paranoia was so bad.  Professionals would come in for gigs at a certain time on the schedule and the administrative assistant changed the time on purpose, causing trouble for this particular individual and the entire dept, making us look bad and disorganized.  Very high turnover in certain departments and job titles, ergo they would do best to advertize their employment for certain positions as temporary positions as some other employers are currently doing, it would save them tons of dinero with their hiring processes! 

It's a company that will allow you to grow, and promotes heavily within our team of all stars! The owners and upper management allow us to implement strategies that use our education, creativity, our ideas, energy and respect for one another to achieve our goals. We have fun and work hard. When it comes to PSL as a whole, the Home Office is an absolute mess. The owners play a game of how long they can wait to pay vendors until they get turn off notices or legal notices to pay. Used to have over 20 communities across several states, but now only have 7 and still can't manage funds for them. Communication and support from them is nonexistent unless you're a favorite. And there is absolutely ZERO management training set up. Thankfully there's one or two people that are actually of use and willing to help when needed. The benefits have also been cut severely and cost went up as well. 

I have been a PSL employee for a few years now and have learned so much and grown as a person alongside my colleges.  I started in Personal Care while still a college student, and at the time I thought I was going to work with children.  Wrong!!! I fell in love with the geriatric community and working with individuals that pushed me to do and be better for the residents.  After graduation I was given the opportunity to grow in a new position.  I love that my co-workers and I share the passion for the residents that I do, and we can work together, achieving our goals and bettering the lives of our seniors!  I am so grateful for the connections I've made here, and I don't plan on leaving anytime soon!

One of the best facilities I have ever worked at, I've worked in most of the local care centers around the area. I love working their because they reflect what care I wanna see for the residents. They go above and beyond, all the staff has been friendly and helpful. They also offer fair wages for all positions and always provide everything needed for the job and sometimes more.
