One of the best things about employment at Ware is the amount of work that each day entails.  Always having problems to solve, errands to run and people to facilitate makes the work day fly by and by days end, a feeling of a job well done is liable to overcome any good employee.  
     During meal times a dietary aide is expected to create meals for residents, serve the meals and assist in eating and personal preparation of food (cutting meat, thickening liquids, giving first aid when needed).  During non-dining hours, the day consists of managing and dispersing dietary items to the nursing staff in the various wards of the community.  The bulk of our responsibilities stem from interacting with the residents, taking the time to talk with them and figure out what they need in order to feel satisfied and comfortable.  Cultivating a relationship with each resident is an important step in doing the job well and knowing the community that we serve.  The nursing staff depends on the dining crew to convey information concerning the eating habits of various residents and to recommend what kind of diet and food items the resident or nurse may want to pursue.
    This is a large facility with around 300 residents yet the ratio of staff to residents is a bit skewed.  There should be more staff members on the floor at all times in able to accommodate our growing community.  Because of this shortage, many workers who have been here a long time start to feel resentful and seem to be unwilling to change their work habits and pick up new responsibilities. Many of my co-workers are afflicted with this work ethic and do not share the same enthusiasm for the job as others (including myself).  This creates an uneven work load in which a few select employees end up doing the majority of the work while others are content to simply coast through their responsibilities (often relying on others to pick up the slack.)  
     This lackadaisical work ethic is toxic in an environment that is operating twenty-four hours a day yet there are employees at Ware that help to make up for the gap created by some of the less enthusiastic staff members.  But, if you are a worker who thrives on being busy and expanding their work duties (like myself), Ware is the kind of place that can teach many new  skills to those who are ready to learn.  Overall, the interactions with the residents and the nursing staff (many of whom consistently impress with their knowledge and breadth of their compassion) make for an overall rewarding work experience.

When I went for my interview I showed up early the lady doing the interview arrived 20 minutes late to our interview. It took them a month to call me back. After my orientation was done and finally put to work on the floor I quickly learned that majority of the staff there were always talking really bad about each other. Criticizing other people performance without (professionally) addressing the person directly. The manager engages in gossip as well instead of enforcing healthy and professional work atmosphere. Some caregivers lack empathy/ compassion toward residents and coworkers, lack professionalism and healthy communication skills. The atmosphere gives off an toxic work environment and staff members are constantly judging their coworkers. Some Caregivers only want to sit around on and be on their phones. They don't take their time with the residents, rushing through their work so they can sit and be on their phones. Those said caregivers are the ones constantly judging other staff members who take their time with the residents, making sure they provide quality care. Those said caregivers prefer to work in competition with other caregivers instead of working as a team. I couldn't keep count of how many times I was in with a resident and callbells were going off and instead of helping that resident the caregiver would clear the residents bell and tell them that the other caregiver would be in with them, making them wait for what ever it is they, the resident needed; to only go back to sitting down to be on their phone and letting that resident wait. Let me be clear not all of the caregivers work like this but after being there for some time I was able to work with different caregivers and seen the difference in everyone's quality of care. New hires have the potential of making this community a great place if they can tolerate the childish behavior of certain caregivers but essentially it's the management's job to make sure the the atmosphere of the work environment is in professional order. Management doesn't give consequences to employees who create a hostile work environment the toxicity just perpetuating.

This job is very easy going and accepting of all. Small building with not a heavy workload. But very short staffed, mostly agency which can create a lot of confusion on rules and routines. The worst thing about this job is the staff members who have been there 6-7 plus years that think they can run the place. They use how long they been there against you and feel they are above you and can do what they want. They con new staff into doing more work while they do less. They change the rules to help themselves and get away with it due to all the new staff/ agency. Management has no clue. The rules are not set in stone here. You could walk in one day and get told that you didn’t do something but you never even got trained or told to do before. They do not do anything extra but expect the extra out of new staff. And if you don’t do extra they report you for little things and discredit you to other staff. I love the residents, atmosphere and how easy the job can be, but dealing with the staff members and worrying about what you may be doing wrong in someone else’s eyes is too much. Management is very flexible and understanding. A lot of the nurses are afraid to do CNA work which can lead you doing all of it and answering more call bells because they won’t. If training and rules were set in stone and managed and the staff who have been there for years did not get away with picking and choosing, the job would be perfect! Covid made it difficult but it is getting better. 

A typical day at Ware always starts off with your coworkers giving a friendly good morning or hello. We tend to have time to help each other out with duties and resposibilites that we encounter throughout our day. If you need help doing something all you need to do is ask. People will quickly able to help, as long as they have time assist you in your needs. There is a lot to do at Ware so as long as your staying busy your day will go by quick. Management always seems to be helpful in many situitions. Ware is quickly growing in many different assets. It seems to be a continual process which is good for anyone looking for work. I highly recommend working at Ware as they expand and grow in a multitude of ways. We are a diverse group at Ware with many different backgrounds. Everyone gets along with having different backgrounds. This leads to an enjoyable time at work. If you are looking for a great place to work. That has great benefits and good pay look no further.

Employees are treated like trash on a hot day by management.   If you're lucky they'll pretend to care. Don't work here if you have a life outside work. You get four sicks days, one call off on the weekend is counted as two call off and a write up. This includes employees who haven't missed a weekend in five years. You get to watch the favorite employees receive gifts such as gift cards meanwhile some people bust there butt and don't even get a thank you. Theres this joke called the employee survey where you bring up important issues in the facility so they can work on them. These surveys are a waste of your time because not a single thing gets corrected. If management decides they do not like you watch out they'll begin to look for a reason to write you up. Lets say something comes up where you'll need to leave ten minutes early for a couple months. Not with PSL you can't alter your schedule ten minutes. Don't worry you'll make up the hours when you have to stay late because the work load is meant for two people. These communities are always short staffed. You'd think management would be understanding that sometimes a couple small things don't get don such  as changing a toilet paper roll. They do not care you can be doing the job of three and if its not 100% complete you'll be in trouble.

It seems like this company wants to pay its hardest working employees as little as possible and add on as much work to their day as they can get away with all while cutting hours and eliminating important positions. This is causing hard working individuals to quit and find new jobs that pay accordingly and leaving the remaining staff with more work and low morale. What used to be a very fun and positive place to work that I was excited to be a part of every day has become quite the opposite. In fact, the days have become depressing, repetitive, and  hard to get through with any positive energy.  I used to look forward to every day and now I force myself to go back every day. The only thing keeping me there are the other staff that have been there a long time and the residents. It just seems like the people that are making important changes to the place are pushing out all the good staff members  that really cared about how the place was run. Cutting hours and pay is certainly not the way to motivate anyone to work harder. And now with staff leaving it has only caused the remaining people to have more work and lots of frustration. Everyone is on edge all the time and leaving at the end of the day feeling exhausted and defeated. Unfortunately I don’t see any of this changing in the near future so I’m sure more people will be moving on. 

Cathedral village is a great nursing home to work at, you learn a lot of things related to food. We recently transferred our company to work under Morrison Compass Group which is a even greater company to expand your knowledge & move forward in life. I work around over 10 cooks in the kitchen, the days are normal & pretty simply we have plenty of help from our Sous Chefs & Executive Chefs. I was recently moved up from a ''Stocking Position'' to being a ''Puree Cook'' so therefore they gave me plenty of room to learn different positions working there. I have the funniest & best co-workers ever, everyone gets along in the kitchen while getting work done we enjoy listening to the radio while working & i would say the communication there is very good. What i enjoy most is my co-workers became like family to me we hang with each other outside of work, so when i get to work i feel like i am at home. I would have to say the hardest part of work is when i have to return to work on Monday after my weekend off, only because i have to do more work then a normal do to a lack of consistency of the co-worker who works behind me but that's OK i have no problem finishing where they lack at. Besides that i enjoy the job...

I worked here for a while and it use to be a nice place to work a new company came in and it has gone down so  much  this company apparently has no idea how to keep both their residents and employees happy it is a highly stressful toxic place to work. You are expected to do your job as well as others when they don't do theirs reporting it to your supervisor is a joke those same lazy employees continue to work there in fact they get  worse when you report them they leave residents  not taken care  of. residents report that  some aides are very mean to them and barely help them when they ask for help the good aides are given a hard time while these lazy nasty aides continue to get away with not doing their job.  It just doesn't  seem to be any real consequences for the aides that don't do their job. There's no grace period when your late even if its just a minute  it still counts against you. There's a new rule every day which contributes to  the already stressful environment. I really enjoy working with the elderly you can learn so much from them. Management should listen to employees on how to make things better and then take action in doing so.

I see so many complaints from employee's here. I am thinking these are all young people? Isn't working in such a facility supposed to be about the elderly folk who reside there? Everyone complains about wages (I do understand everything is expensive) and the co workers and the higher up. However, if you do not want to care for or help the older citizens who pay so much to live there and deserve being cared for and cared for properly, then do not apply to these places. It is that simple. It is those unapreciative applicants and employee's that make these places for the elderly and frail not be what they expect, what they deserve or the treatment by employee's they deserve. With all the whining and quitting, all you're really doing is hindering the lif of those residing there. Putting more on those workers who have a love for helping our senior citizens and taking away from time that should be spent with these older folk. You are robbing the most precious people of our community the late in life moments by whining and being ignorant and uncaring and quitting. DO NOT apply for these places or positions if you do NOT have a caring nurturing heart and soul for our elders!!!
