What is the best part of working at the company?
Toxic environment, poor management, no orientation manual or packet for my new position. The provider is a gas lighter and by their own admission a controlling personality who declares that if their spouse ever dies no one would ever marry them or tolerate them.  This provider has been reprimanded on their treatment of me and it continued despite the reassurance that this issue was resolved. I personally would never work for this facility ever again. I do not recommend this employer at all.   The only bright point about this job was the patients who appreciated me and the care I was able to give them. I had 3 patient compliments that came via email and surveys. 

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
Management, lack of training, no orientation to the job, stressful and loud environment and toxic and frustrated employees who on a daily basis complained about their job, some who are actively seeking other employment. In this position the 2 MA’s assigned to this area were fighting at least 3/5 days of the week. The behavior never changed after administrative intervention.  Then you add gaslighting and extremely stressful work conditions made it impossible to enjoy my job. 

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
In my position it was toxic and the advise I have received by my psychiatrist and therapist is to not return to this position. Yes this job made me seek medication management to treat my anxiety, adhd and severe depression that this position drove me to take my self health seriously. Management was made aware weeks if not months ago that I was having difficulty with the environment and my other conditions and concerns. They started out as supportive and then they became vindictive with write ups for non patient safety issues. I have paperwork to support my decisions and I have not had the opportunity to speak to this. 

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
Stress, overworked, understaffed, lack of management support. Go to work, listen to constant complaining, getting snapped at by my co workers for asking questions which was also reported to management.

I was employed at GHS for a total of 14 years. I was an LPN for 24 years. I became an ADNRN under their tution assistance program. In the middle of the program they decided that the ADNRN was no longer valuable and began to hire inexperienced BSNRN as opposed to hiring an experienced ADNRN in order to obtain Magnet status. They finished paying for my tuition assistance and graduated July of 2011. I am still an ADNRN. For 11 of  the 14 years I was emloyed on one acute care unit. In August 2011 I received my RN license and was removed from my position as an LPN and told not to come back to work as I was now an RN and needed one year of med-surg experience in order to become hireable as an RN. I was told by Human Services that I had 8 weeks to find an RN position in the hospital sytem or I would be terminated. I was told that I had 1 month before my benefits ran out. I was initially told that I could not file for unemployment. Because I listened to them I lost 2 weeks of unemployment benefits until I contacted the unemployment office myself. I was told by GHS that my years as an LPN did not matter and that I was starting from the bottom as an RN. I ultimately was hired as an office RN within the system. I was making five dollars less as an RN in an office position than I was making as an LPN on an acute care unit. During my employment as an LPN on an acute care unit I was bullied by a faily new RN. This went on for years. Management would do nothing about it. I finally left GHS for employment elsewhere and gained the 1 year RN med-surg experience. It was brought to my attention by coworkers at the time that I was not given the opportunity to stay on my unit as an RN because this bully did not want me around anymore. The bully and nurse manager at the time were on very friendly terms. Over the past 3 years I have reapplied for an RN position on the same unit and have been informed that this bully has been preventing me from being rehired. Lateral violence is not addressed at GHS. Every one of my 14 yearly evaluations were outstanding. GHS had changed their title 3 times during my empolyment with them. I finally gave up and took early retirement.

I started as a temp for 3 months and got hired on directly after expressing interest in continuing. This job felt manageable at first. Stocking items in the hospital seemed straightforward. However, new cabinet machines have been installed and are becoming almost impossible to manage. Deadlines are set so early that if they are not met, you have to store the same items in the same quantity the next day, even if they can no longer fit. Items sometimes sent up late or to wrong location, or not even at all which you have to manually go up and down to the ground floor to pull your cart to the assigned area...all of which challenges your deadline. Nurses often do not check items out like they are supposed to (sometimes grabbing a handful at once) so machine thinks they have enough & does not order. Materials is blamed the next day when this happens and they call to say they run out, in which the blame would be put on me. Nurses often leave clean supply rooms a mess (items on floor or in places where other items we need to stock go in), like they expect us to clean their mess. Weekend shifts understaffed, double the work of weekday shifts, and supervisors are not present. Weekends are the worst since you are given a receipt deadline of 4 hours and are assigned 15 areas that take about 1 hour each (1/2 for stocking, 1/2 for counting inventory). Concerns are constantly addressed but no action is taken. Do not expect a great salary, started at minimum wage and was told to add as much experience/education possible on my resume for full-time employment. My salary increased not even $1/hr even though I have a bachelor's degree & was on my way to receive my MBA which I just got. Lots of walking and physically demanding (but often not too bad). No room for advancement within this position. Supervisors are friendly but they are mostly in their office with the door closed, so no real recognition is seen or given.

I am a former PCTII on the Pediatric/Adolescent floor in the Children’s Hospital at Richland. 
A typical night shift work day started out with me getting shift report from the tech I was relieving, which means, I was given a detailed update on all patients I was responsible for (could be as few as 13 or as many as 26) 
Ins (fluids)/outs (urine & stool) and visual patient checks done and documented at 8,12, and 4.
Vital signs done and document led at 10, 2 and 6.
Any abnormals reported to the patients nurse immediately. 
Make sure all patients that required a special disinfecting bath (CHG wipes used) got them by 9 pm.
Prepare and assist with any new admissions, to include; setting up patient room with appropriate patient need supplies, lower, lock (wheels) and turn down bed, check that all essential supplies (emergency medical equipment) are provided, set up and easily accessible, ie…. Abu bag, Yankaur, tubing and  suction canister.  
Assist nurse with initial vital signs and get patient settled in.
A typical night can be very quiet and routine or it can be extremely hectic. That was one of the aspects of this position that I loved. It was exciting for just that reason.
A few Cons of the job:
There were periods of my employment when there was not enough help. So I would potentially be responsible for the whole floor. That could be 26 patients. That all needed vital signs, every 2 hour turns for non mobile patients, diaper changes, and answering general requests, such as refilling water pictures, helping immobile patients to the bedside commode or bathroom and changing linens when a patient has an accident. 
Weekend and holiday work (the reason I left the position. For better work/life balance.) 
The Pros:
The people I worked with on that floor were absolutely amazing. The nurses were always supportive and would never mind jumping in to help change a diaper, turn a patient or change linens. We always work as a team. It is, by far the best example of team work I have to give from my 30+ years of working in the medical field.

The Radiation Therapy dept is in dire need of a complete overhaul. Upper mgt is well aware of the dysfunction & the fact that the patient is not the focus in this dept. The hospital has 5 different MDs all operating like 5 individual practices, doing their own thing. Heck some cant even get to work when office hours begin!  Teamwork amongst physicians is horrendous.  The radiation dept has lost half its patients to Spartanburg & the referral base is pitiful. The hospital staff works harder than the staff @ outlying centers.  They treat in- patients, peds,  all the special procedures, etc. The satellite sites treat 3-20 patients per day with therapists getting paid to sit around. The workload balance is so off.  Resentment is abundant. Laziness is abundant. The hospital staff is on damage control constantly. Doctors don't care, don't want to be a part of the improvement process. MDs don't follow policy & Procedure. They don't use interpreters or they use their own Spanish.  Mgt prefers to simply sweep it under the rug. They want a puppet, a yes man, not someone who's passionate about patient care or making the patient the focus.  Lean 6 has been in 3 times without success.Safety isn't being addressed in that an employee continues to be employed & cant do Basic Radiation Therapy 101. Staff has gone to mgt several times over the last 8- 9 years about this person. It's an absolutely awful place to work. The joy of taking care of patients is lost when the physicians don't operate as a patient focused practice.

The hospital system, as a whole, really opened my eyes to how absolutely ignorant they are during the height of CoViD 19. I will only touch on a few things, briefly- while there, employees were absolutely hounded and harassed about receiving the “mandatory vaccine “. Does no one remember the days when employee health would PAY you $20 IF you got your flu vaccine? It was absolutely appalling that this healthcare system alienated and single-out those employees who decided against the vaccine. Those individuals were MADE to wear: N95 masks-the entire time (at some point vaccinated employees could wear surgical masks, or no masks, if not in direct patient care), safety goggles, and a face shield. 
Management has been condensed (repeatedly), thus they are taking on more units to oversee. When management is unavailable to workers on their units, any concerns, frustrations, areas of improvement..can be neglected. Poor staffing only got worse, as the experienced staff were/are capped with salary/bonus’, etc. no staff wants pizza or ice cream (or the next shift gets crumbs because admin, again, plan poorly and ALSO doesn’t have patient care experience) as an appreciation. Why are we giving every staff member employed a bright red CoViD 19 “6 foot rule” shirt and then asking them to wear it in public, when not at work? Save it. All of it is insulting to any- and all- staff. 
However, I loved my coworkers and doctors. The teamwork, willingness to provide learning opportunities, communication, work-flow…was all, pretty much, great. It’s a shame that ratios, acuity and lack of staffing puts a strain on everyone & drives those employees away. 

If you’re fresh out of EMT school and need a year of experience to get another job, this place might work (If you can stand it)-That’s the one positive, I suppose. However, if you’re seasoned…stay away from this service. There are some really good folks here, but they are under the heel of totally toxic (and incompetent) management. I worked for this system in a different capacity 25 years ago , and from my perspective, this place has gone from bad to dumpster fire. I have never worked for management so tone deaf in my 18 years in EMS. First month in-my car was side swiped on their property. No investigation, no follow up. I assure you if I had side swiped one of their vehicles on the property-they would have gotten to the bottom of it. Second-bring accused and written up for deviation of policy on the word of staff. The only problem is…it wasn’t true. Third-returning from surgery two days early: Fast forward one week at my post op appointment….I had a minor complication that required a minor procedure, and I wasn’t able to work the next day. I was promptly called to the Directors office. I was written up for missing too many days. Of course no mention was given to the multiple days I had been called off at the last minute when I was scheduled to work. The pay is under market, the job is monotonous. The schedule is terrible, the scheduling is terrible, the equipment is terrible, the morale here is terrible. No one here is happy-you can see it in their faces. Until they fire this Director, nothing is going to change. It doesn’t seem like they are interested in resolution-just control. I was here for six months. My usual tenure at a company is in the 3-5 year range. Don’t waste your time on this place.

The NICU unit is extremely understaffed, leaving a lot of the nurses on the step-down unit ("NICU II") 4 or 5 babies apiece. While these infants aren't as sick as those in "NICU 1" they still can and do crash. With a feeding schedule of 9-12-3-6 for EVERY baby, it can be very frustrating to both parents, babies and nurses, for necessity demands some babies will be "early" and some "late". My coworkers all loved the babies, and would all help each other should one or more of the babies start having problems. The most difficult part of my job, besides seeing infants pass and dealing with parents who really didn't seem to care about their babies was: getting everyone fed and medicated on time. The nurses  have advocated for staggered schedules for years, and have been promised only-3-babies for years - but neither has transpired. A preemie doesn't wave a reg flag when he is sick. It takes time for the professional nurse to continually assess /reassess. Even the "smallest" things can be indicative of big problems looming. A 4 or 5 baby assignment simply doesn't permit the amount of time the nurse can and should be hypervigilant about each and every patient. The most enjoyable part of my job, BY FAR, was when I would finally send the baby home, and the parents would verbalize their appreciation of my work, often writing to the managers and keeping in contact with me with pictures, birthday party invites, and surprise visits to me in the NICU. To see these babies growing and thriving at home was the driving force and satisfaction of doing my job.

Worked in upper management for several years for this health system.  The first several yrs were very good and overall a positive experience.  However,  in the last 3-5 yrs  there has been a drastic  change in how senior and executive leaders have managed the health system. A massive  exit of long term senior  directors, administrators, and sr. administration due to corporate   decisions  has completely changed the culture of the health system.  Extremely long unappreciated  hours are expected  of management  and staffing.  Most areas the staff is greatly over worked and understaffed.  People  are put into leadership  position with little  and in many cases zero experience  in the area they are now managing. Massive  favortism exists on all levels. The staff works extremely  hard and genuinely love and care about the patients and their profession in every department.  But senior leadership could care less. It's all about facades and putting on a false public image.  I loved my job, my staff, and my profession, but hard work is not appreciated at GHS. Good patient care is delivered because  of the front line staff and their dedication.  
I would not recommend GHS in their current environment as a good place to work. Bring back the previous  senior leadership team - and you've  got a wonderful  system. Continue  with your current business  strategy and direction - and it's a sinking ship.

Prisma Health has teamed up with Wellstreet. With their collaboration they have collectively decided to reduce the services offered to patients coming to urgent cares in the area. The urgent cares were an extension of the ER, which allowed them to take care of patients with minor issues. Starting September 1, 2023 our urgent care offices in Greer, Simpsonville, Verdae and Powdersville will no longer have quality registered nurses. The staff will be mostly medical assistants, which greatly limits the quality of care provided to patients. The services offered have become like AFC clinics. The current changes that have affected the urgent cares are that the labs are minimal, quality doctors are leaving due to lack of staffing and the registered nurses will no longer employed by the urgent cares. Prisma and Wellstreet are systematically reducing the staff to only have a minimal number of employees to cover many services offered. Staff are required to do jobs outside of their scope of practice, such as xray techs doing lab work which they are not qualified or licensed to do. Doctors are restricted in what services they are allowed to perform and reprimanded if they go beyond the services for the patent’s wellbeing.  I would suggest any patients thinking of going to one of these facilities be aware of the lack of staff and quality licensed personnel. Due to these changes our local er will have an increase in patients that could have been assisted or helped at these urgent care facilities.
