I’ve held my tongue for far too long, and it’s finally time I say something after a good long thought and a recent incident involving one of my friends, who still works for this company. Trust me, it is not even close to attaining a partially decent rating for this review. In all my wisened decades or more of working office administration, never have I seen such a cohort of whom professionally behave in a way that invalidates the standard ethical mission statement that a majority of companies hold their employed associates to. I understand office chatter will always exist, but deliberately leaving their employment posts to remark snidely about a new trainee to the fellow PTs and OTs, constantly being on their phones but condemn any new person on even touching their phone to check the time and above all, demanding any new personnel to know how to work an intricate EMR and scheduling system within two weeks of hire and giving them absolutely no training only a packet of papers to read while they are constantly texting and on social media. On top of Al lethal, the seasoned associates commonly make unkind statements about fellow colleagues whom are not present in front of patients and fellow associates is beyond preposterous… it is down right out of a poorly written office soap opera. You need not look further for mind-numbing entertainment. My heart breaks for newer employees, due to the sheer unprofessional esteem this company has seemed to succumbed to these days. I enjoyed my time well for a very long time indeed, until I did not. I am off to better pastures in my age. Last words of wisdom I’d say to anyone in the Tri-State Area looking for a decent and honest office administrative position at a company: 

Avoid this company like your career depends on it, do believe, it does.

I have been working with Professional Physical Therapy for a little over a year and it is not as Professional as the company's name.
The only reason I have stayed with the company for as long as I have is because of the few great people I work with at my location that makes the day a little easier and because it hasn't been easy finding another job in general. The company as a whole does not care about the well being of their staff. Every location is understaffed and overworked. 
The front desk at every location is constantly disrespected by the patients and told by the higher ups to "Deal with it and grow thicker skin. Just tolerate the patients belittling you and make sure to tolerate it with a genuine smile" At some locations the therapists are also disrespectful to the front desk. 
The therapists are pressured to see 20 or more patients in a 6-7 hour time span. Majority of the patients do not get the one on one time that they deserve due to the therapist having to juggle multiple patients at once. It's about quantity and not quality. 
The facilities are constantly compared to a factory due to the high volume of people. Management has a heart attack when a certain amount of patients cancel their appointments. They will send out threatening emails stating "Your location will be written up if people continue to cancel." The company only cares about numbers and which location sees the most patients and not how many patients are successfully treated. 
The staff is constantly being shifted around from location to location without being asked if it is okay or how their commute will be to work. There are many new locations opening up but not enough staff because it is a revolving door; people are constantly leaving due to the sweat shop conditions ( Low pay and overworked)

I worked here for 6 months. Initially it seemed like a great job but It wasnt all that it was cracked up to be - not even a little bit . They do an excellent job of selling you a dream but you quickly see the true colors if you're smart. They basically threw me into the job barely training me and also into a location that was so busy where the people who were supposed to train were so stressed and overwhelmed they couldnt train you properly.  I then started realizing what the job was really about, its a number game. They want to make sure their numbers are good they have a number of patients they want to see per day and if not they will stress the employees to the max, but when you are underpaid its not easy to cope with that stress. They'll move you around from location to location and management will bribe you into things with zero incentive. Most of the higher ups are friends and truthfully you'd be doing yourself a disservice trying to complain about the conditions under which you worked. 

ALWAYS SHORT STAFFED. People dont stay with this company (not at the level which I worked) usually, its a revolving door. Most fridays I closed an office of about 150  patients by myself it was terrible. The workload was insane and they expect so much from you for such low pay. I met a few good people here and yes one can move up very quick but.... for me it wasnt worth it. $12/hr was just not worth the stress.

And even if you do your very best they will stick you at the end. They will let you go before the end of your two week period to prevent paying you for the remainder of your days. To me all they care about is money they dont have their employees best interest at heart. They have over 100 locations and ive met many employees who experience the same thing.

This company is all about the profit, visits, reviews, surveys, etc. They will work you to the ground with very little pay. Aides and receptionists are cross-trained to do each other's jobs but what ends up happening is they will understaff their offices and expect an aide or receptionist to do both jobs for the same pay. Aides are only hired as part-time so that the company does not have to offer them benefits but will use them as receptionists and have them work outside of their scope of practice, at least in the state of NJ. Most offices only have one receptionist who is in charge of everything admin related. There is no supervisor or manager on site that can help if you have a question or if there is an issue. They have to be reached via email, IM, or phone. It's pretty sad because the Clinical directors, who are in charge of the clinic, will just dump everything on the receptionist because half the time they don't know what to do outside of clinical work. All of this for $12/hour for a receptionist or less if you are an aide.

There is low morale within this company and work culture is nonexistent. Even therapists have complained about how much stress they are under because they expect that therapists jam pack their schedules and see as many patients as possible to maximize their profits. They will sacrifice good patient care for profit. Bonuses for therapists are based on how many visits they see.

Therapists are CONSTANTLY being moved from office to office. They will tell you one thing when hired but will move you around to different offices as they see fit and will change your schedule whenever they feel like it.

In all honesty, I would stay away from this company, it's just not worth it. But at least the benefits are somewhat decent.

Professional PT has been a great place to build my career in physical therapy. Since joining in 2013, I’ve had the opportunity to develop both clinically and professionally, working alongside supportive colleagues in a collaborative environment. Like any healthcare setting, the job can be demanding, especially in busy clinics. Documentation requirements can feel time-consuming, and as a larger organization, changes can take time to implement. However, the leadership team is receptive to feedback and continuously works to improve the employee experience. If you're looking for a company that offers career growth, strong mentorship, and a positive team culture, Professional PT is a great place to work.

Working for Professional has become rather demanding. Balancing my work and home life is no longer manageable. I do not know my work schedule for the following week until the end of the week Friday. That in turn makes difficult to take care of simple yet necessary task such as making doctor appointments for my over all well being. I has been a receptionist for two years now and with an increase in work load the compensation is not equivalent. Being the senior receptionist in the office I now proficient in verifying insurance, communicating effectively with medical offices as well and insurance representatives, making appointments, managing multiple incoming calls, registering new patients, collecting and posting money as well as participating in the training for new hires. And seeing as we are now and has been short staffed for roughly 6 to 7 months, I am confident in saying I am more that capable of not only multitasking but opening and closing an office by myself. But as difficult as it may  be being the senior receptions is the best part of my day are the patients. I has become an extended part of their families while they are just as influential to me. The most important thing working at Professional PT has taught me is patience, because without patience and understanding i'm not sure where I would be, not only at work but in my own life.

I worked at Pro for about 8 months before I had to move for family reasons. 

The company had some pretty good benefits, like Verizon phone discounts, BJ's membership discounts, & regular benefits (sick days, vacation, etc.) after 6 months. 

Communication could get a little dicey with so many departments interacting in the same thread (and not all of it applied to some of the offices) but it was also always traceable to cover screw ups (both good & bad). 

The compensation is a little low, especially considering the areas of operation (NYC, Northern NJ). However, if there was work that needed to be done, and you wanted to put in the time, overtime was always an option for me. 

I was offered a promotion shortly before I had to leave, so advancement is definitely an option for anyone willing to actually put in the work for it. Again, I was only there for a short time, and was offered one. 

They also had events for employees, sometimes just one office, sometimes the whole company, which was all paid for through the company. My office had a couple bar nights at a place nearby. The only exception was the Christmas party, which had a fee for any significant others that you wanted to bring. 

Overall, its a decent job, but a little more compensation - considering the cost of living - would have made it a great one.

A typical day at work involves patient care; patients are booked on the hour. 
I have worked for the company for 15 years and have learned and grown so much over the years. I now have close professional relationships with many high-level and regarded doctors who trust me with their patients care. 
I have watched management grow and really make the company employee focused to work to improve employee satisfaction. 
The workplace is my favorite part. Colleagues help me grow into the clinician i am and help me bounce clincal ideas to help tailor my care to improve my skills. 
Hardest part of the job is dealing with insurance companies and the outpatient model. 
The best part of my job is watching my patients excel and "graduate" and return to their life, sports, hobbies, jobs. Nothing is more exciting!. 

Work-life balance
Work-life balance at Professional Physical Therapy is poor. You’re constantly playing catchup on notes because you’re seeing 16-25 patients each day. Then you’ve also got to fill out excel spreadsheet templates to explain why patients aren’t scheduled for the next week. I don’t have kids and the notes take forever. I can’t imagine what it’s like for my coworkers who have kids.

Pay & benefits
My pay and benefits at Professional Physical Therapy are “competitive.” Not worth it for the volume we see in the clinic.

Management
In general, managers at Professional Physical Therapy are doing the best they can with what they have. I have no problems with them as they really are trying to keep us afloat. Change needs to be made higher up.

Culture
Collaboration with my colleagues at Professional Physical Therapy is good. For the most part, we all try to help each other when we can but we’re all equally burnt out.

Overall
My experience working at Professional Physical Therapy was good in the beginning as a learning experience but then the patient volume became overwhelming. Especially since we’re understaffed. Overbooking is common. Burn out is expected. Corporate is aware but nothing has improved. This business model is not sustainable or healthy for employees.

The need for high volume limits the ability for the company to properly care for each patient as an individual. My reason for not wishing to be part of it is mostly due to some issues of mngmt. and the need to compromise individual care for overall ability to profit as a company. Not something I disagree with as necessary, but cannot feel okay with compromising.

The people who work there are great, and I've learned great time management skills, I love helping people walk and do what they need to do better than they came into the clinic, but it's tough to deal with challenging people who will not do any part of their HEP, and managers who blame me for not impressing on them the need to, which I'd always tried to do. Having people above you not be willing to accept their own responsibility as I've accepted mine when I cannot do the best that a patient deserved has made me slightly bitter to the work, and it affects my ability to help their cause, and them mine.
