I was a former West Chester Protective Gear employee, doing my job and working hard as everyone else. The folks at West Chester are very friendly and sweet, the overall culture was great, and the job itself was fun and challenging at the same time. I had been very happy going to work every day until West Chester was acquired by Protective Industrial Products (PIP). I understand completely when M&A happens there will inevitably be lay-off, and unfortunately I was one of those chosen to get the chop. I am not writing this review out of grievance because that I was let go, but it was the way PIP did it. They sent a person to rush me when I was packing up my stuff in my cubicle; while I was trying as quickly as I could, the person kept telling me she was running late for a meeting and I must finish packing ASAP. She paid no respect to me whatsoever, and acted as if I was a thief going to steal property from the company. On top of everything she did NOT give me, NOT EVEN A MINUTE to say goodbye to the friends I have made at West Chester. I left the company with my heart completely shattered.

Moreover, the upper management does not care about the employees either. I have done nothing but work hard in my year with West Chester, but when I was informed that my position was eliminated, NOBODY, not even one person from PIP thanked me for my contribution to West Chester/PIP, or had the kindness to wish my luck and success.

Overall I am very disappointed in PIP.

Every department is working after hours for no good reason due to indecisive management decisions and lack of leadership. Lots of burn and churn across the board at PIP. The people don’t matter, only the revenue goals. People leave all the time and no one is hired in their place putting more work on the rest of the team. Won’t allow any budgetary increases to meet new hire salary requirements so positions stay empty. Management has no real idea what it takes to do the type of work they’re requesting and expect everything to be turned around and solved in 5 minutes. We are sweating. We are burned out. We can’t blame the people who leave, we don’t even know why we stay.

I enjoyed my time with PIP for the most part. I was able to learn great skills at that job and have turned those skills into a career and for that, I'm grateful. 
What I didn't like is that after years of acquired skills and experience, doing the jobs of 4 different roles at any other company, PIP acted like they were rewarding me by paying me $25K below market value for my position. 
I'd say, if you're related to or friends with the owners, there is great opportunity for advancement and fair pay. If you aren't related to or friends with the owners, there is very little opportunity for advancement or fair pay...so if you intend to pursue an actual career as opposed to just working a job, PIP will probably be a temporary employer...a good place to learn before moving on.

The whole atmosphere is disgusting management doesn’t believe anything you say they question everything you do and they always Target certain employees if they don’t like them no matter how hard you work

The environment at this job site is horrible. People lie and tried to get you terminated for no apparent reason. Upper management does nothing to help stressful situations and they are constantly making sure that you have no support.

A typical day at this company consists of being overworked and underpaid

It was a good environment pay could be better ? But you have to fast and consistent to make good pay and it's understandable

Winter time ,it's fast and it's jacket season and you might have to work ot depending on age I did t like the ot

Loved the ppl i worked with and it was a nice to be left alone to do your job with out being watched or someone looking over your shoulders

Fast ,and the day flew by the breaks fell in nice to make it go quick

The management is terrible, you will be lied to about your starting pay. Raises and reviews happen once a year if they don’t pull some random made up policy saying you don’t get one. You are just a “warm body” as the superiors there would say. They make you feel unfulfilled and replaceable. And they will do anything shady they can to cover up incidents in the workplace. Pay is not competitive whatsoever and they will lie to you over and over again say it will be adjusted. You will be force to do all job functions that are not listed under your job description and you will not be compensated for it. Safety is not a priority to them in anyway. PIP in reno is an awful warehouse. 

The employees are nice, but it's the office staff that you have to worry about. The owner is definitely not in the business to support any of his employees. While wages rise in one state our wages drop. In order to retain employees they changes the point system from 12 points, to 6. Mind you it takes an entire year for each point to go away, You even get a point for turning in a doctors note. Not only did they do that, but they have offered nothing to their employees in the midst of a pandemic. Meanwhile all new hires through the temp service get a $700 bonus. If you are not family, or a brown noser, you will never make it beyond a Fixer position.

A typical day at PIP would include answering phones and gathering data for distribution to management. I learned a lot about how specific departments work separately and the significance of how all the separate parts come together for one complete project. Management made a big deal about collaboration and how efficient communication can help separate teams reach a common goal. My co-workers were always upbeat and busy which inspired me to work harder. The hardest part of this job was processing the volume of incoming data. The most enjoyable part of the job was being able to work with other teams and eating lots of pizza during our meetings.

•	Completing emails daily to ensure customers are answered in a timely manner.
•	Work well individually as well as in a team setting.
•	Mentored new agents to ensure quality and efficiency in all areas needed to ensure they are ready to perform all job functions.

Great coworkers and decent pay

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
Higher ups putting ridiculous and poorly planned business ventures above hiring more staff to accommodate for increasing business. Feels like a sinking ship.

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
For coworkers and even team leads, great! Other than that anyone in a position of power will dismiss issues as "negativity". Look forward to hearing about how much money the company is making while you drown in emails and calls.
