Provider Solutions + Development is a wonderful organization with a fantastic leader and CEO. The CEO Rachelle has a heart of gold and her passion is inspiring. Many companies say they are mission-driven, but PS+D truly is and you see it in every aspect of your work. My coworkers are like family and everyone supports each other. The workload can be very high and extremely stressful, but the team and the leadership make it worth it. As one of the recruiters, I honestly put so much pride into my work and want to help physicians and providers find what is right for them. We do not work on commission, so you can trust that we have your best intentions in mind. 
The worst part of my role is the office location. The surrounding area is incredibly expensive, leaving most of us having to commute in. The commute is tiring and can be frustrating. We are allowed to work remotely some days, but having a full-time remote option would really lower stress and actually increase working time, as I would continue to work during the time I would have previously spent commuting. In contrast, offering a higher salary that better supports living in a major metropolitan area, allowing for a shorter/easier commute, would also be a possible solution. 
The best part of my role is my team and the leadership. Overall, PS+D is wonderful and I would recommend them to any of my friends and family. I believe PS+D is heading in the right path and hope to see them implement some of the suggestions above.

This is the letter that I wrote to my team following my immediate, no cause termination.

"Hi Everyone, 
I wanted to personally reach out and thank everyone of you for the time that you spent with me. I value it greatly. Unfortunately I was terminated from Providence today without warning, formal or otherwise, in any 1:1, I had. I was told that this happened because there was a pattern of complaints from numerous people that I was combative, aggressive, and also treated others as though I thought that I was somehow better than them and had nothing to learn. I am so saddened by this. Not because of what happened, but because of the impression that some of you must have perceived because of something I said, or did. I am so sorry that any of you had that experience! I truly am! I have worked really hard at trying to reach out to everyone that I'm working with consistently and connect with them in person about everything that I'm doing and that I've done. But apparently, I have not done my job. I have made some uncomfortable and for that I greatly apologize.

PS&D is the recruiting arm of Providence, as well as other mission driven health systems that we partner with.  As a recruiter at PS&D we are called to help provider find positions that fulfill them. The environment at PS&D is one of the best I have worked in.  The engagement among staff is high and management is supportive of creating an inclusive work environment.  The work is extremely rewarding and fun,and I am always learning new things.  The toughest part about PS&D would be the constant change. As a start-up within Providence, we are growing fast, and that comes with a lot of changes.  These changes are for the best and if they are not, leadership is quick to change gears.  Overall, it's an absolutely great place to work!

A typical day involves cross-team collaboration on healthcare transformation projects. I’ve learned a lot about large-scale systems and Agile practices. Management is open to ideas. The culture is supportive and mission-driven, with colleagues who care deeply. The most enjoyable is working with talented people on meaningful work and mission. 

I’ve worked at PS+D for six years now and it’s been a very good experience. I am paid fairly.  I have a great boss and I have consistently felt like I had a voice in the organization.  I feel both heard and valued.  

If I had a single complaint it would be resources - but that’s not easily fixable and we are a victim of our own success.  When you do something well, you tend to get asked to do more of it. We constantly have more work coming in than staff to do it. It requires a lot of prioritization.  Work life balance is emphasized and supported but can sometimes be hard to achieve in reality. 

No leadership team can fix everything- no matter how good they are.  This team sure does try though!

The office culture at PS+D is warm and relaxed. We try to keep a "work hard, play hard" spirit with friendly competition ("office Olympics") and mission-based volunteering. Everyone is here to do good work. That work is sometimes challenging with our unique situation of being owned by a large health system with different bureaucracies to navigate. Teams have worked in silos but there are efforts to break those walls down and be more collaborative, and I can see the difference it's making. The team is growing and expanding business, so people who are comfortable with change will enjoy the pace here.

I love my work in finding new roles for providers across our organization and partner companies. We truly take a consultative approach with our providers to find them their next right opportunity. We work closely with people throughout the hiring process to make sure we are providing a fulfilling and substantial interview process so caregivers across the spectrum feel empowered in the decision they make to join us. We have an amazingly supportive work culture with open communication, strong leadership, and a passion for being the industry leader.

COVID-19 has changed my work place setting to being at home 100%. I really liked that my supervisor ensured I had all equipment and tools available for the transition. 

Great leadership and transparency. I feel there is open communication both ways. I can express my thoughts and the leadership encourages employees to reach out at any time via your supervisor or direct contact to leadership. Most importantly, they do not feel like strangers when I see them!

Workplace culture: I love my co-workers and I feel supported at all times. Company has fun organization and regional events.

In this time of COVID-19, PSD is living it's commitment to care. Leadership has quickly restructured and re-prioritized work; encouraging recruiters working in areas with fewer open roles to pivot to work that will help build a stronger foundation to the organization, allowing to be better able to match providers to the job that's best for them, when they are ready to look again. Because of this work, no one has had to be furloughed.The org also has set up ways for the entire team to connect together in happy hours, weekly huddles and fun online activities.

Although PS&D is a subsidiary of one of the largest health systems in the US (Providence), we have an incredible startup culture feel. Everyone is enthusiastic about serving the Mission and living the Values. Everyone really loves being part of a larger cause, Health for a Better World, and there is so much support for teammates in every department. Of course there are times of stress and pressure, like any company or industry, but it is rare to be part of a team that cares how you feel, celebrates wins big and small, and works hard together serving the community.
