A typical day at work for me was to clock in and get to work . I stood and walked the entire shift. There were times I solely had the responsibility of accounting for 54 men, that did not want to be accounted for. 

I learned that this population deserved to be served as you would any other person fighting a disease . And there were days  when you had to fight for their recovery when they did not have the power to do so. I also learned that when in Roman some cannot do as the Romans . While some COULD !

 Management could have been more present. It is a dual 24/7 facility. They are only required to work 8 hours onsite. Leaving 16 hours to a staff that continuously changed, were young adults and lacked some mature skills. I believe this company would thrive and serve both the staff and populations better if is was mandatory for someone from the core of the  leadership department present 24/7. I've had four encounters with the head leadership. Out of the four , one was handled extremely well , two was reaching for something that was not there. and the 4th is somewhat valid. 

The work culture was much like most work places. You have your gossipers and those that try to skate through their shift . I believe the staff sincerely has the best interest of the population , but needed more mature leadership the 16 hours the core leadership team is not in the building . 

The hardest part of the position was the lack of consistency.  Although,  the site has been in existence for years there is no foundations on how things should be done. The way things should/could be done continuously changed no matter how many meeting were held. The meeting seen to be held as a company  requirement. 
The lack of consistency made the job harder , frustrated the population and challenged ones core values and integrity.  There has never been someone from the head leadership team to witness the trainings and practices of those on the 2nd and 3rd shift ; although this is where most of the issue are . In addition to needing leadership in the building , housekeeping is needed 24/7 in a facility that is open 24/7, and has the capacity to hold 116 men. 
The most enjoyable parts of the job was witnessing the gentlemen blossom from Detox to discharge. Especially , those that had to be convinced time and time again to stay. Upon discharge they were different men . unfortunately , there were times due to the inconsistency of the program, some discharged without the tools they should have acquired. 

The life skills department worked hard to keep the morale of both the staff and population happy. This team is what is holding the sanity of all together . 

I enjoyed working here . I met great people both staff and those from the population. Most of all I do believe I made a difference in a few lives and at the end of the day that is what I was hired to do ! 

Was hired as a "BHT" only to find out this was an in-name-only title so my boss could get corporate to sign off on my pathetic $10 an hour salary. I somehow got roped into doing housekeeping and maintenance to save the company money, and spent more time taking out trash and cleaning toilets than anything to do with my psych degree. I had no interaction with clients other than transportation. I was always in my boss's office asking to take on new projects and responsibilities, and she was patronizing and dismissive. I applied for every single internal opening, and was never given the courtesy of anything beyond a first-round interview. I was close with a lot of the drug and alcohol therapists, one of whom I even went to school with, and none of them could understand why my boss would hire from the outside rather than promote me. While I was there we had an over 75% turnover, including individuals who were picked to fill positions that I had been denied for. Despite being controlling and condescending, my boss never had direct conversations with me about issues she had with my performance, and instead sent her office manager to have all the difficult confrontations. Her only interactions with me were to leave passive-aggressive sticky notes in my work area. I finally quit when she changed my working hours to an unbearable split shift. Due to the high turnover, my boss needed me to do the work of two people. So I was required to come in at 6 a.m. in order to get morning work done, go home for a few hours, then return to support the evening therapy groups and stay until 10 p.m. I was sleeping in my car during my lunch hour just to be able to function. My boss was anything but appreciative, and began writing me up for not completing my regular work load (despite taking on another person's work load with the same 40 hours). I started staying until even later at night to get all the work done, and then she get began writing me up for clocking overtime. Due to my extreme exhaustion I started nodding off at the wheel of the company vehicle, and was written up for client complaints. Final straw for me, and I broke down crying in front of the office manager that she'd sent to write me up. I found another job, quit Pyramid the day I was offered it, and filed a grievance against my boss. My experience at Pyramid was incredibly emotionally abusive, and damaged my self esteem and sense of personal agency. I feel bad for the employee that had to take on my already double workload, but I'm beyond happy at my new job in therapy, at a much larger and more respected agency.

if you are looking to work in a circus, apply to Pyramid health care. 
this company (which seems to have popped out of thin air) is an absolute joke! no one likes to work they all do their job just for a paycheck. the turnover rate is insanely high. Clients are never fully happy with the services they receive with us. Company overall is completely unorganized and all about a dollar, could care less about the actual patients and all the blame falls on the little people. you are expected to handle a certain amount of calls all while managing other unnecessary and not compensated for task. As an intake coordinator you are to schedule clients for treatment throughout the day, all while managing your handle time, watching the queue (if you are crossed trained you will be on multiple lines of business which all have different requirements so good luck remembering everything) answering emails, both personal and potential clients, calling clients back, checking voicemails and live chatting. The benefits are horrible as well as not being able to afford them because you are underpaid. (10-16 cents raises a year, no semi annual/annual bonuses) there are no opportunities to advance or grow with the company. Management is like a high school girl clique. Talks about other employees/managers from different parts of the company, including their own whilst others hear. the head manager is specifically horrible, she uses profanity when talking to her employees as if she is speaking to her children. There are no breaks other than your lunch break (which you should be entitled too). almost impossible to maintain a healthy work life balance.You have to work a full two weeks to accrue 1 day of PTO, which if you want to use you still have to find coverage for your shift if no one can cover (management never offers to step up and be ACTUAL MANAGERS) you cannot be approved for time off, the same thing goes with a floating holiday. there are also no paid holidays. if you are not a favorite, good luck. HR is almost impossible to get a hold of and does not honor the open door policy. I would not recommend this job to my worst enemy. I left a fairly decent job because during the interview process i was sold a dream about this job, all lies. 

A typical day at work as a Behavioral Health Technician is busy and varied, often starting with checking in on clients, monitoring their well-being, and making sure everyone is where they need to be for groups, meals, or appointments. Throughout the day, I help support clients in following their treatment schedules, document observations, and assist with any issues that may arise, from emotional crises to daily living needs. No two days are ever the same, which keeps the work both challenging and meaningful.

What I believe I’ve learned most in this role is patience, empathy, and adaptability. Working in a drug rehab facility means learning to meet people where they are, often in very difficult moments, and to stay calm and supportive even when situations are unpredictable. I’ve also learned how to document accurately in the EMR system and communicate effectively with the rest of the treatment team.

Management has generally been supportive, providing guidance when needed and making sure staff understand policies and procedures. Like any fast-paced environment, there can be times when communication could improve, but overall, management plays a key role in helping staff stay focused on client safety and recovery.

The workplace culture is team-oriented and mission-driven. Everyone is working toward the same goal—supporting clients in their recovery—and that shared purpose helps create a strong sense of connection. There’s also a lot of peer support among staff, which is essential given how demanding the work can be.

The hardest part of the job is seeing clients relapse or struggle with the challenges of recovery. It can be emotionally heavy to watch someone return to old patterns after making progress. Another challenge is managing high-stress situations, such as clients in crisis or conflict, while staying professional and calm.

The most enjoyable part of the job is seeing clients succeed, whether it’s a small step like opening up in group or a big milestone like completing the program. Being able to witness transformation and know that my support contributed to that journey is incredibly rewarding. Those moments remind me why I chose this work and keep me motivated even on tough days.

You will be paid minimally and expected to take on more and more and more work.  The job itself is incredibly stressful.  This is only compounded by a constant change in facility management.  The program I work in has been open a little over 5 years.  By July they had 5 Directors and 6 clinical supervisors.  In 5 years!  Since the strange departure of the program director #5 there have been 3 interim directors plus associated other people popping in and directing here and there and generally making a mess because each and every one of them has a different idea of what to do to run things.  What they all share is unilateral decisions pushed down through the department heads without any input at all from those of us actually doing the job.  There is rumor that they have finally hired a poor soul to be the "permanent" director so we are all bracing ourselves for more stupid decisions and upper management not listening to anything those of us doing the real work has to say.  Our department head is wonderful but constantly dealing with whatever new idea the incompetent upper management throws at us like one of the interim managers making unilateral decisions about client care that undermined the work of the entire team.  Don't apply here it is really a dumpster fire.  The turnover is extreme because they work you like a dog and don't listen to any of us.  We are constantly understaffed, like at half capacity.  You will be worked to the point of illness or until you find another, better job.  Upper management will promise the world and never deliver.  I've heard the same tune for 3 years and nothing helpful has materialized.  When another new manager sweeps in and gives us all the "inspired" speech about the exciting changes coming we all smile and nod and know it's all bull.

I've been with Pyramid for well over a year. Management keeps changing, people walk out....clients and employees. We are unfairly treated, not paid correctly, if at all.  Employees are put in dangerous situations constantly. They are extremely understaffed, which makes for already unsafe situations. Upper Management works from home so they could care less. We were taking transferred clients from a facility known to have a COVID outbreak. When it was brought to a supervisor attention, he told us we had to accept them. An irrational male client assulted an older female supervisor today. He was then sent home with a tiny female driver. She asked several times for a ride along because she didn't feel safe. It was refused. The client then told her he was going to beat her up and steal the car. She went to the nearest convince store to call again for some assistance. They sent another driver, an older man, to take the client home. The driver was assulted and car jacked by the man that already said he would. Dangerous and unsafe!! They owe me alone $2,000 as of now. That's not including the hazard pay, raises or bonuses I was intentionally skipped. And I'm not the only one. They cut our PTO, took away our sick time and are shorting us at the time clock. Several employees are being refused pay for COVID symptoms, while they have the sick time available. The nursing Manager likes to scream at and belittled staff in front of other staff and clients. The entire 3rd shift crew called off a few nights ago in protest to the poor working conditions. Upper Management treats everyone like they are dispensable. I should have been evaluated for a raise 4 times, but wasn't at all. The Director hires people he knows, instead of people that are qualified, and dumps them on an already short staffed crew to train them. 

Use them as a stepping stone to gain knowledge of the field. The pay is very low and benefits aren’t to great. You accumulate vacation time at a rate of approx 3.67 hours per pay period; no sick or personal leave. There’s no work life balance even though promoted by upper management. The needs of staff are disregarded. Burnout happens quickly. There is a lack of staffing and upper management’s expectation of work are to burn yourself out to cover the lack. There are candidates that apply to the open positions and are offered but do not accept because of lack of pay and benefits. Upper management will constantly tell you that they understand your issues within the company but no aid is given.
The team that I worked with were amazing!! I did learn a lot in working for this company. I was able to learn a lot about burnout and how to effectively handle it. I learned that even though upper management continually say they are there for you they are not. Be ready for plans B, C and D because plan A falls through because of lack of upper management support. I have learned to always give your best even when not supported!
(When I speak about upper management, I am speaking on those who are not onsite every day)
There also seems to be a disconnect or lack of communication from upper management to the top. Also information is given short notice on changes that need to happen and it is expected that frontline management to implement ASAP. 
There are some great people that works onsite but there will not be any change if upper management does not listen or provide communication of helping the frontline staff.

The clinicians inpatient are caring, encoraging, goal oriented and viewed the techs as teammebers. Client staff interaction positive. Staff knowlegeable with appropriate education/background. Tech supervisors were helpful and encouraging. For the client impatient showed a tough love approach but one which compassion and understanding to build the client up. 
The Women's halfway house was a very different experience. Staff culture was basically be at war with the clients. Clinical staff are are very focused on punishment. They culture is to tear down clients to tear them down some more. Head Counselor is like a prison guard the only male counselor thinks he is still in the Marines and is like a sadistic sergeant he also  shares as much if not more than the client. Both are Very pleased with asserting their authority. The 3rd counselor is fine.  The tech supervisor constantly changed interventions, ignored client rights when it suited him and his main topic of professional talk is what he does at the gym. He stoped talking about the gym only to be judgemental to lower staff or clients. High turnover of staff and clients. I knew the 2 counselors and the tech ssupervisor not leaving probably because what other job outside of corrections pays people to be bullies. I could not stand the lack of ethics compassion and understanding at this house so I left. 
My all means work inpatient but unless you are also uncaring bullying unfair inconsistent and cruelly self centered do not work at Traditions House. Shame on Pyramid for keeping the three bad employees.

The culture that exists at this corporation is like no other I've ever seen. It is an environment of hostility and unprofessionalism stemming from corporate micro-management and bullying. There is evident favoritism of certain staff by leadership and different rules for different people based on how well liked they may or may not be. Human resources fails to address issues for fear of legal consequences which send the message to staff that unprofessional behaviors by some are acceptable.There is no clinical integrity when it comes to the treatment of the patients. They only accept Medicaid and engage in fraudulent behaviors such as patients dropped off after midnight by transportation but recording an admit time prior to the patient arrival (before midnight) in order to bill for an additional day. Medicaid does not cover transportation for discharges against medical advice so management tells staff not to disclose the type of discharge in order to avoid denial of transportation payment. Staff turn over occurs at an alarming rate. They are always understaffed and are content to operate as nothing more than a Medicaid Mill. This location is only open slightly more than a year and have now lost their third nursing director as well as the clinical director. The only goal here is to keep beds filled. Many of the patients are homeless and many are re-admitted on a regular basis regardless of clinical appropriateness. This is no where I would send anyone I know for quality substance abuse treatment.

What is the best part of working at the company?
Job security. I love working night's. Quiet atmosphere for this shift usually. Liked the staff on my shift.

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
Not know if others are coming in for the next shift and you may have to work over with no notice.

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
We are dealing with broken people. Some from jail n some not. But all are broken in some way. It's a stable place for ones who are trying to get on their feet with guidance and resources offered from pyramid etc.
Honestly the culture changed daily and was hard to follow rules when they r constantly changing and no notice.

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
I would come in and work night shift. Go over with the person that was there the shift before to be updated on any issues to look out for on my shift. Next I would say hello to everyone and if new clients were in I'd let them know if they have any questions or anything they need to talk about im available to them. Do my unit check and make sure everyone is OK and informed on what they weren't clear with  yet. Communication is very important. Then I would do my paper work and get settled in the office for 15 to 30 minutes. Take vitals some times when nurses need help. When it's bedtime most of them know the routine. Every hour I would check on my clients. Making sure the client is present. If yes or no I document. Then I will clean for some time. Usually a client may wake up early and need a drink or something.  I ask if they r ok? They usually just want to talk for a few minutes and go back to bed
