I started here Dec 2024, after leaving my job with a hospital, where I worked for 10 years abstracting patient data. I am not an RN, but worked amongst/with several RN's the entire time. I will admit, I did not have enough experience abstracting full cases before I began here. I thought I knew enough to take this position, but apparently not. I may have been able to improve, but I had an epiphany one day that this job is draining my soul. The greenlighting process is so tedious and frustrating. I understand why it is necessary. But to be told by my manager that I am expected to pass the first 5 cases I receive during my next GL facility, just made me even more anxious and stressed. You have to have a pretty good understanding of IQVIA and their specs to work here. My last job was not nit-picky about the times we used for procedures, or any other element we abstracted. We used our best guess. Do not expect that leeway here. You have to use the absolute EARLIEST time for everything, which requires digging through every little note and flowsheet. I understand the data is important, just think it's a little arbitrary if you document something 1 minute later via diagnostic result vs going through all RN and doctor notes to find a possibly earlier documented time. You have to be granted access for each facility, which was such an annoying process. Every facility I was given access to, had issues. Meaning, I couldn't log into anything initially and had to call the IT desk for each separate facility for help with logging in. This is frustrating. Also, each hospital expects you to document things differently. There is an MDD (instruction guide) given for each separate facility, and you must tread carefully. If you answer questions they want left blank, that's a dock off your score. It is way too difficult to keep track of what facility wants what element to be abstracted this way or that way. You need extra time to look through each MDD for each facility, yet they want you to have 97% accuracy or higher,  and to improve your abstraction times. I began to feel like I have to submit sub-par data just to meet deadlines. This job is probably not as easy-going as you expect it to be. Yes there is some flexibility, but also not really, when CSL's randomly assign you cases on Thursday that are due Friday, on top of your current caseload. I would spend the first half of my week focused on greenlighting cases, and not be able to begin my regular caseload until Thursdays. Greenlighting cases are always due by the day after you are assigned them. I would have so much anxiety over making sure I abstracted the new facilities properly enough, that this is al I would focus on during the first week. Which means I had to rush to get my other 12-17 cases in by Friday, when I wouldn't have a chance to even start them until Thursday. I became so tired of spending all my Fridays working from 8am until midnight getting all my cases in before the deadline. And if you are even an hour late, you can expect an email on Monday morning asking why you didn't meet the deadline. The expectations are just too high here, at least for new hires. I left my hospital job expecting this to be my dream job. Instead, I left on the spot when I was in the middle of abstracting because I realized I cannot keep up with this. I also didn't appreciate receiving an e-mail at 1030 PM notifying me of all my quality issues and being placed on a P.I.P. - couldn't even sleep until 1 AM due to the anxiety this placed onto me once I read this. I quit 2 days later. You have to be really good with time management, dealing with a million people (there is a different leader you have to communicate with for each facility), as well as waking up every morning to check my phone, nervous that I would have a negative message about my abstraction. The home/work life balance became extremely blurred for me working here. Maybe don't install Teams or Outlook on your phone, if you don't want to receive messages or updates on your cases from anyone at 7pm when you're eating dinner with family. 
I thought this would be a dream. I have now realized I will likely never return to clinical data abstraction.  Hospitals need to hire their own data teams instead of using a 3rd party like QC. I don't understand how anyone can keep up with the differing documentation requests from each separate facility. I couldn't keep it straight and realized this was enough for me to handle. It's so annoying thinking you have X amount of cases to do before the end of Friday, only for a facility to reach out and assign you 3 extra cases on Thursday afternoon, also due the next Friday along with the cases you already had pending. I'm so glad to be done with this and have my life back. I quit taking care of myself and my house because of this job and stressing over case scores and meeting their deadlines. It's not worth it. If you can handle juggling a lot of differing expectations, meeting with several different people for each facility, annoyances with IT access for every facility, lack of proper training,  and just unrealistic expectations all around, then give a try at this job. I will not be returning. But I appreciate realizing abstraction is a job of the past for me. Ridiculous expectations.

At first I was hesitant to join Q-Centrix, being fearful of working from home after being in the hospital for so long. However after allowing the benefits to outweigh the fears, I jumped right in. Things were admittedly slow at first - getting IT access and learning the ropes were slightly cumbersome. However once those initial hurdles are cleared, I have never looked back. Although I have solid experience in hospital quality, I am not an RN and this limits my opportunities. However Q-Centrix was the first employer that saw me for my capabilities and skills and not the letters behind my name. I have advanced through many stages with the company and anyone that is willing to work hard and be a team player can do the same. The culture is live with advancement opportunities and colleague support. The hardest part of the job is no longer being paid for tasks you were once paid for in your typical work day (small talk, e-mails, logging onto systems, etc.) so often it does feel as though you are putting in more time than what is being logged. It is important to set routines to maximize your time when you work here - this job is certainly not for the unorganized! Another downside are the health insurance benefits. While offered, I could only afford coverage for myself - this was not an issue in the hospital environment. However if you don't have a family or have coverage via your partner/spouse, this is really a non-issue. PTO is generous. Any disadvantage I listed is really small when I get a positive work environment that allows me to use the skills I know best and at the same time have the flexibility to be a Mom at any time it is needed. Jumping into Q-Centrix was one of the best decisions of my life. Being patient at first, then maximizing time management allowed my relationship with Q-Centrix to be a win-win.

I had the opportunity to work for Q- centrix for almost 5 years. In the beginning it seemed well organized and a very suitable place to work. Changes started happening and everything went down hill from there. The company started with changing the pay rates 3 different times in a very short time. They added more work and less compensation. Of course with the base pay going up making it look like you would make more money. In reality you rarely are paid base pay and paid by the case rate. So much more data was added to be collected causing collection time to double, but case rate stayed the same. You are required to do so much on your own time(emailing,  communicating with leads, down time, etc) without being compensated unless you are a TL, or upper management. Medical insurance went from having really good insurance to only having one option to choose, which was not even worth paying for. Changes are neccessary for a company to grow, unfortunately this company decided to try and make massive changes all at once. Oh and don't ever think they care about you because they don't. They will replace you in a heartbeat. Just pray that you get a good TL because this company is full of very spiteful ones that will definitely make your life miserable and give you the crappiest cases available. 

I have been with Q-Centrix for 5 years. Initially, I was hired at an hourly wage of $27/hr.This was a $5 decrease for doing the same job at my hospital. I was willing to take the pay cut in-order to work from home.  About 4 years ago they went to "pay for performance" compensation plan, AKA case rate. I am a detail oriented abstractor that prefers to take my time and do an excellent job. Reviews of my charts are always 100% accurate. But with the case rate I now average $20-22/hr. I have greater than 30 years experience as an RN. Friends of mine that work remotely for hospitals and home health average $70-$80,000/year. A ridiculous difference in pay. Any position above Senior Quality Information Specialist (SQIS) and Team Leader make a very good salary. Management stay in 4 and 5 star hotels when at meetings, eat at very nice restaurants and are extravagant. QC is the typical company where the main workers are paid poorly. Besides the low pay SQIS's are required to review QC emails and client emails and other computer time under "General Time" which is unpaid!  I love working from home and the flexibility that it gives me which is why I have stayed this long and had planned to stay 10+years but now I am looking everyday for another job here on Indeed. The people are great to work with and QC tries to make a warm welcoming environment.  QC has a 48% turnover rate for the SQIS's. They need to recognize that the reason we work is to pay our bills and save. Therefore, compensation should be the priority to keeping employees happy.

I enjoy working for Q-Centrix.  I work full time (30 hours) with PTO hours, paid holidays, and matching 401K.  As long as I get my 30 hours done per week, I can make my own schedule.  Regarding the negative reviews on this site, there is a delay of a few months from the time you are assigned to a new hospital to the time all IT access has been approved and set up.  This is why it's important not to quit your regular job until you are well established with the hours you desire with Q-Centrix. I started part-time.  Initially when starting with a new hospital, there is often a backlog that the client wants us to catch up with quickly, so there are typical more work hours the first month with a new hospital than you will typically have.  After this, it levels out better to your assigned work hours.  Time spent reading / replying to emails is not compensated, so it's important to keep that time to a minimum and spend most of your day actually abstracting charts.  The pay is excellent, several dollars per hour more than I was making doing the same job in a local hospital.  Accuracy is critical; work samples are reviewed weekly and pay is affected based on accuracy.  I enjoy working for Q-Centrix!

Q-Centrix is a great place to work. A typical day at work is according to how many hours per week you are dedicated to work. The scheduling is very flexible as long as you meet your committed hours each week. Lots of people work 24 to 37 hours per week with full time benefits starting at 35 hours! Very good benefits, very dependable company with lots of growth over the last 3 years that I have been with this company. The management staff is great and everyone helps you when you need help. The hardest part of the job is getting all the IT access when you are first hired, but there is a great IT Dept to help you through this tough time. The most enjoyable part of the job is making a good salary working from home!
You save money by not having any travel to work and back, it saves you the time you usually travel that you can be working and getting paid for your time, saves you money for lunches out, make up, and other personal products that you no longer have to bother with, and your work attire can be your PJ's if you choose to wear them! I highly recommend this company if you enjoy abstracting, have good management skills and want to grow with this company!

The hours were inconsistent, training was nil, management is stretched to the point of incompetence and overall the organization is disconnected and disorganized. I would get dumped with an excessive number  of cases and have to forget my life, working 60 hours one week (some not paid) and then have nothing to do the next. Management will assign you cases without letting you know a deadline and this creates so much anxiety. You can ask for a deadline and they'll say just get it done as soon as you can and then they'll get upset it wasn't all done the day before. So stressful! Just tell me when you need it and I'll do it or I'll let you know I can't! I would be assigned a new client and excited about the promise for full time status and consistent work hours, and then wait around for 6 months to begin! By then, so many people were hungry for work and the team would be so large that the cases would be split so many ways and the cases I received were minimal. 
This might be a good part-time job (10-15hrs/week) if you have time on your hands, don't need to rely on the money, and don't mind doing a lot of work that you don't get paid for, but this is NOT a job you can rely on to make your monthly mortgage payment.

Used to be a Senior Quality Information Specialist.  Pay started off reasonable at 28.00 per chart abstracted and after 6 months pay went down to 18.00 per chart.  NO benefits were given and you were not allowed to take any vacation time since they always had weekly deadlines.  
Nurse's are expected to abstract medical information from charts and interpret surgeon's notes to 100% accuracy, which is impossible when some EMR are scanned in ahnd written nots that are not legible. Also there is a lot of data that is actually above an RN's education and is most likely not accuratley abstracted,  This is not fair or good for the companies that hire Q-centrix to do their abstractions.
It would be much more beneficial for a hospital to hire their own database abstractors instead of resourcing out to a company that is not abstracting quality and accurate data.
Management was very condescending and did not appreciate or respect employees with college degrees and years of experience. 
It was very nice to be able to work from home, but would feel guilty knowing co-workers were intentionally entering incorrect data so they could meet deadlines

This might not be the job for you if you have a family or need a steady income.  You can basically expect to make way less than average pay for this career field, most of the time less than $20/hour. They can AND WILL decrease your pay rate at any time, with very little notice, several times a year, making life VERY stressful when you had been counting on a certain income.  They choose not have a way to pay you for basic necessary job duties like emails, communications with co-workers, medical record delays, etc. You can have many managers, and most of them email you daily, and expect you to read and respond, on your own unpaid time.  Often, medical records are very slow, this increases your abstraction time, and the company can care less if there are valid delays, you still only get paid for the case, which is minimal.  If they were willing to improve on this, they should never let abstractors make less than your hourly wage based on your hired hourly pay rate and hours worked. At least this way you could always depend on a base income for your family.  Come on guys, take care of your employees, they work hard for you! Company is very innovative in many ways, so it is surprising they they cut short on the pockets of those who make up the spine of the company.

I have worked with Q-Centrix for over 5 years; initially starting off as an abstractor and moving into management, upper management and then to Business Development. This, by far, has been the best career move I have ever made for myself and my family. Q-Centrix is very family oriented so I truly have a great work-life balance. While I maintain pretty traditional hours due to the work I do, my day is flexible and I am able to take off to attend events at my children's school, take them to appointments, etc. The pay is great and they have a great PTO benefit. I love that if I want to, I can work in my pajama pants all day. The workplace culture is great, this company likes to have fun and the marketing department is great at keeping the employees engaged. Most managers have been here for several years and it is a great multi-disciplinary team who goes out of their way to help each other grow and learn. This company is forward thinking and well established and if you so choose to advance, there are opportunities to do so! I highly recommend working for Q-Centrix.
