I worked for QPS as a clinical research technician for two and a half years, and having graduated college now and just recently leaving my position with the company, felt I should review my time there. This is really only a position suitable for high school seniors and college students, and even then I would recommend something else that is more reliable.  You occasionally get free meals which is nice but the hours you receive are incredibly inconsistent. Earlier this year we had full time hours or more while trying to juggle classes, and then for several months we received no hours and essentially did not have a job.

The management is very poor and is what makes me not able to recommend working here. Many people over my time working here have quit simply because of the problems with scheduling. The schedule changes almost every day and frequently people miss shifts because they had no idea they were randomly swapped out and put on the schedule for that day at the last minute. This even happened to me a couple times, for example: I would check the schedule on a Tuesday night, and see that I did not work on Wednesday. Then I would get a call on Wednesday asking me where I was and told that I was supposed to work that day.

The biggest downfall of management in my eyes however is not the scheduling problems, but the refusal to do their jobs as advocates of their employees and to train their employees. The clinic staff are notorious for being extremely hostile towards the CRTs and they treat them beyond poorly, in any of my previous jobs had employees behaved the way they do, they would immediately be fired. However, the management lets it slide time and time again, and when complaints are brought up nothing is ever done about it. Some of my favorite coworkers in my time here quit due to voicing sincere complaints about how they were being treated, and management not doing a single thing about it. Also management will not give you training, it is up to your coworkers and eventually you to train new employees. 

I have worked as a clinical research technician for about a year and a half now and figured I would try to spare some people the grief I have experienced working for QPS. The pay is the only decent thing that I can really say about this job, I make about 16 bucks an hour which is not half bad. However, the management is horribly disorganized and the clinic staff that you are forced to work alongside on most shifts will treat you terribly. 

The clinic staff have an unfortunate us vs them mindset and it is very apparent that some of them are still in a high school mentality with the drama they create on a daily basis (even amongst themselves). Even when you are not dragged into their drama, you can hear it from the lab as they are constantly gossiping and talking badly about each other. This is something you can usually ignore, however at least once a week (usually more) they will let you know that you don't know how to do your job properly, and I have seen several people be yelled/screamed at for things that were outside their control. 

When these issues are brought up to management, nothing is ever done about it, as the clinic staff have a higher pay grade then we do and we are more disposable and easily replaced. Several of my coworkers have quit because of this continual toxic treatment and we now find ourselves even more short on staff then we already were.  I honestly cannot recommend this position and I hope this review will spare others the grief I have endured while working here. 

I worked here for about a year and the turnover rate in the department was extremely high. Within my first 6 months of employment at least 3 people resigned. Management does a poor job scheduling task for the day and the work tends to go past 5pm. Unless, you stay an additional two hours then it is not counted for overtime pay. The work day is already 9 hours with a 1 hour break but its part of the work culture to take no more than a 30minute break or skip a break all together. Those who do take a full lunch break or leave work on time get scrutinized. There is a lot of favoritism with management which will effect what tasks get assigned to you. The position titles do not have much meaning because those with lower positions who have been with the company longer will be trained as a supervisor before those who were hired for that role. The pay is super low for an excessive workload. The only positive is that the company tends to provide food often throughout the week. Also, there are events that take place that help to slightly boost morale. Ultimately would not suggest working here unless you need an easy way to build up a lot of lab experience. 

QPS has made its reputation as one of the best CRO catering pharmaceutical industry. Generally QPS is known for its ethical standards, innovative solutions, and quality in data. QPS has perfected their processes and systems such that anyone can acquire necessary skills and training to contribute to the company's fast paced work environment. Perhaps they owe this to their hard working staff and excellent managers who worked there from time to time.

All the staff and lower managers are dedicated, talented, and hard working. Yet upper management is equally poor, lacks business intelligence, and doesn't have employee empathy. They don't appreciate talent and don't reward hard work in both moral and monetary terms. Every department is understaffed, overburdened and underpaid.That's the reason they cannot retain quality people and keep losing them to the competitive job market. 

The other CRTs you work with are all very nice and great to work with. You get free meals that are occasionally good, but not great a lot of the time either. The reason the CRT position has such high turn over and no one wants to stay is because of how the CRTs are treated, primarily by the clinic staff. The clinic has a very hostile attitude towards the CRTs and I have watched several new coworkers in training be yelled out for things beyond their control and quit on the spot crying. I have attempted to stick up for them to management, but nothing was ever done about it unfortunately, and so I quit as well. The job would be amazing if the workplace culture would simply be fixed, however since management has no desire to fix the root of the problem, I cannot recommend this position and advise anyone steer clear. 

QPS is good for individuals who want experience immediately after college, but they pay is too low to keep anyone long term. Work environment will be different depending on if you are in the lab or not. Lab workers are paid poorly and pay rates have not increased enough with inflation. Most lab workers are overworked and usually need to work overtime to see any decent pay. Lab support individuals typically have a slower pace if they know what they are doing. Promotions do not come with significant increases in pay which is why the turnover is so high. Most people are respectful of one another and try to help if you need it. Overall, if you want to work for QPS, work for a year or two and then go somewhere where you work will be compensated fairly.

Despite having laboratory workings listed as prime in most positions, the jobs entail majority office work and office culture. Depending on which group you end up in, there may be little support for you to learn the skills required. There is a high turnover for a reason. They say your schedule is flexible, but that depends on your group and your coworkers. Another review has called people just "worker bees," and that about sums up the way you feel while working there. However, they will offer free food occasionally and due to the office culture, this seems to placate plenty of people. The actual laboratory work is frustrating, because few take responsibility for cleaning, preparing, and checking things that all lab workers are supposed to do. They do good work at this company, but it is not a good long term position for many people.

Overall working for this company was disappointing. How your experience varies depending on which PI/group/department you are assigned to. Some are better than others and again it all varies. This company is very unorganized when it goes to management and PIs and there's a reason QPS can't keep its employees. Most employees are overworked and underpaid. QPS is a great play to start for work experience but other then that learn everything you can then leave. 

Depending on the department you get hired into you can either have a decent experience or a terrible one. Management has obvious favorites that continually get promoted. The turnover rate is high because newcomers use it as a stepping stone to a better position elsewhere, job satisfaction is low, or they are fired for whatever reason. After a while you pick up on most people's unhappiness and a toxic office culture. Overall the job is repetitious and the benefits are not great. Take the job if you must, but you are probably better off looking elsewhere.

If I could give 0 stars, I would—an atrocious experience working here. A typical day is spent being overworked and underpaid. Working overtime is the rule, not the exception. The culture rewards finger-pointing, which breeds distrustful, self-interested, and uncooperative coworkers/managers. Management was out of touch, unforgiving, and so ready to tear you down. Issues were hardly ever addressed in a timely, direct manner, and I experienced people outright lying to cover their own. I could never stoop to the level of depravity I witnessed and was subjected to. My only consolation is knowing I will never work in a place like this ever again.
