Quality Life Services preaches the motto "Family is Who we Are," but unless you are actual family of the owners or one of their favorites, this statement does not apply to you. Employees are treated as entirely disposable, they often go without thanks for their work, and complaints to management frequently fall upon deaf ears. In my experience working for QLS, I learned early that you must be careful of who you trust. In particular, several of the higher-ups are very cutthroat and will use information you bring to them in confidence against you. They are more interested in their own personal gains than treating you with compassion or respect. If you are salaried, expect longer hours with little to no additional compensation. In fact, if you are someone who "only" works your 40 hours a week, you are not seen as a team player and are viewed negatively by management. Another concerning issue is that policies frequently change and are applied inconsistently to staff which, again, goes back to playing favorites as well as not having clear guidelines. Staff are let go for trivial matters in some instances and are kept on for more serious violations in others. The unfortunate part about all this is that the owners truly care about their residents and staff overall, but issues are swept under the rug and not dealt with seriously. Toxic individuals throughout the company need to be addressed or these issues may never change. I would not recommend working here.

A typical day at work here for me is self-managed and can get a little busy at times, but overall, it’s never too stressful or too much to handle. The tasks I’m assigned are a nice mix of routine and variety, some with creative freedoms. Management staff is incredibly approachable and receptive when I have concerns or suggestions. The Administrator is a kind person who remembers that you’re human, not a work robot, and goes out of his way to make sure residents are happy and have lots of things to do and look forward to. The DON is a compassionate person who’s always highly engaged with the residents and staff and doesn’t just sit behind a desk. The workplace culture is positive and incredibly supportive; as a new employee, everyone is always very willing to help and guide you if you ever have questions. There are lots of opportunities to get to know both your coworkers and your residents, through company and community events and projects. The hardest part of this particular position is sometimes knowing who to approach for different kinds of information, but it’s usually not difficult to get some guidance with that. The most enjoyable part is definitely interacting with the residents and family members and getting to know them. I count myself lucky to be an employee here, because I don’t think I’ve ever been surrounded by so many genuinely kind people before. I highly recommend QLS Apollo as an excellent place to work, especially as part of the office staff. 

Motto is "Family is Who We Are" NOT! Owners and corporate people came to facility two weeks ago for a Townhall meeting. We were told by the owners that residents and employees are  very important to them. We were told that the company was restructured  and our jobs were safe. One week later get an email from corporate for video meeting. (Email went to one particular department in each facility. ) During this meeting we were basically told that that the on-site positions were ending.  Those in charge of the meeting wouldn't  directly tell us that. I had to text one of them to get confirmation of this.
 
I don't know the owners personally,  but I have no respect for the corporate people I have to ultimately answer to. In fact, I was told the following two statements during meetings with them regarding the collections and medicaid pending meetings.  The first is "MONEY IS KING" and second is "TALK IS CHEAP, BUT MONEY SPEAKS".  How sad is that! Never, and I repeat never, was I told "good job" when a tough MA approval came through. Told constantly "you need to work harder" meanwhile another 5 or 6 new residents need that need MA added on top of an already large volume that are in already in the process.

I will miss the people I work with, but not constantly being belittled by the people I report to at corporate. 

If this is the way "family" is supposed to be then I'm glad they aren't my family!  The owners need to look at their corporate "big wigs" and clean house there first.

I've had the privilege of working at QLS for the past 13 years, and its home for me. From the very beginning, I've felt valued as an employee and supported in my roles. The owners/leaders are approachable and listen to feedback, and genuinely care about both the staff and residents. The long term care industry itself is challenging. We're constantly navigating through complex regulations and the ongoing challenges of staffing, but I’ve always felt that the company does its best to overcome these hurdles. Sometimes that means doing the hard things or pivoting at the right time. We all share a passion for the work we do, and it's inspiring to be part of such a dedicated team. The owners consistently demonstrate a genuine desire for both the residents' and staff’s best interests. I’ve always been happy with my compensation and benefits from health coverage to 401k and vacation time. Both have allowed me to reach financial and personal goals. Despite the many challenges of working in long-term care, I’m proud to be part of a company that prioritizes quality care, fair treatment, and providing great services to both residents and staff alike. I’ve personally had numerous family members reside at QLS residences. This is a company that values its employees and all customers and is dedicated to doing great work in a tough industry.

The 3 owners are very much actively involved and are an inspiration to staff. They treat every single employee from the ground up like a member of their family and truly care about them and make an honest effort to show it. 

In the last year, Quality Life Services has put a focus on streamlining their identity/brand, improving the resident/patient/family/staff experience and care, and hiring some of the industry's sought after veterans for various departments to help continue and foster the growth of the organization. 

Of coarse with any organization there are going to be bumps in the road, growing pains, and some service breakdowns. These things though do not define the organization or any organization for that matter as no place of employment is truly ever "perfect" or gets it right the every single time the first time. 

I am proud to be apart of such an amazing organization.

Working at Quality Life Services is beneficial for people looking to change their career or try something new because they offer a Certified Nurses Aide Program. The class is fast paced but easy to learn and progress forward. Once you have your CNA license you go through training to take your own assignment and are typically paired with a “seasoned” aide to learn the ins and outs of how the floor runs at our facility. Once you feel like you are ready you can be off of training. Most coworkers are easy to get along with and will help with whatever you need. If you ever have a problem it’s easy to work up the chain of command with your concerns. Our administration always has an open door to the concerns you have as well if you feel your concern is not being noticed. The DON we have at QLS Grove City listens to whatever problem you have whether it’s communication with families, resident care or day to day life. The hardest part of this job is trying to maintain a work life balance considering there is always time to pick up for overtime, depending on what shift you work and how exhausted your body is, it makes it hard to want to do things outside of work other than relax and sleep. The most enjoyable thing at our nursing home is building relationships with our residents and learning how they want things done, their routines, making them smile when they’re upset and being there and giving them the best care until the end.

QLS is a 3rd generation, family-owned business that understands it has to 'mature' and build the necessary infrastructure to support the business. The ownership 'invests' in the company - and its people - knowing that both efforts will produce sustained success. The Owners are actively involved, servant leaders. They delegate well, and treat every member of the company like their 'family'. Any issue or problem is given due thought and heartfelt consideration.

Countryside puts a big face and makes you think the place is absolutely beautiful from the building to the staff, I worked on the skilled unit, the building is covered with bugs, the worst part is residents will tell their family members that and when family members ask they'll actually make it sound like the resident is making it up. The fill residents up on hohos and cupcakes, basically to shut them up. There is a huge clicke and it's basically the aides working their butt off usually be mandated at least once a week, I had been an aide for the company for 2 years they had one of the aides go through their aide training just starting 6 months before and gave her a random raise makin her make 50 cents more an hour than me, when she could only work with her best friend she left people I. Bed most of the day and took several breaks when I hardly got a lunch and the knew my people had the best care.  If you truly loved your family member please don't leave them here, there good aides are overworked, and they hire everyone that puts an application in.  Honestly housekeeping never cleans the shower room and 90 percent of the aides throw your family members on shower chairs that haven't been wiped or cleaned either 

I was hired as an RN Superviser for Monday through Friday daylight and was put on steady 3-11. I worked as supervisor for the whole house when there should have been two RN's, plus was put on a med cart to pass meds on an entire dementia unit and supervise whole house because thy could not keep staff. My training was incompetent and I was told to do physical assessments, go on the computer and put whatever the history said. Management was only concerned with what looked good on paper, not what was done properly. There scheduling system was the worst I've ever seen and involved not knowing what you worked for sure until 3 pm the night before and that was not always correct. They offer an ETO benefit package but from what I heard from staff was that only a select few were able to use them. Some receiving up to 3 vacations a year while others could not get one. If you are truly desperate for work, I'd say go for it. There is a chance you'll fit into the office "girls club", but if You are truly dedicated about the care and safety of your residents don't waste your time here.

From the time i punch in until I leave it is non stop. Managing staff is probably the most difficult and stressful part of the job. There are many different personalities that often clash with each other so mediating that can be challenging. There are also some people Who you will never make happy no matter how hard you try, but it doesn’t mean we stop trying. The hardest part of the job is probably dealing with and covering the call offs as well as still being able to do my job affectively if there is a call off and I get pulled to the floor to be a supervisor, I still need to keep up with my management duties as well as assisting with the scheduling of the building. It can be overwhelming and demanding most days. However, at the end of the day, when you’re getting ready to leave that simple, thank you by one person can make all the difference and my administrator makes sure he tells me thank you and he appreciates everything we do daily!
