I have worked for organizations of all sizes - from thousands of employees to just a handful. I can honestly say that RVNAhealth has been my favorite employer. I work with smart and supportive people who intensely care about what we do and the lives that we impact. We do meaningful work -- but we also have fun in the community! These are just some of the many reasons it’s a source of great pride for me to say that I work for RVNAhealth. 
I think the enthusiasm and dedication among staff comes from the top down. The CEO, Theresa Santoro, is the most engaged top executive I have ever had the pleasure to work for. She’s a former RN herself, which is how she came to  what was called Ridgefield Visiting Nurse Association many years ago. Her having both the clinical and business acumen has allowed the organization to be on the incredible growth trajectory it’s been on during the last decade or so. I would absolutely recommend RVNAhealth to anyone interested in being part of a dynamic healthcare organization where you can grow (and be challenged) and feel appreciated every day.

I worked here briefly. The job that was promised was not the job that was given to me. Promised territory continued to expand without warning or discussion, without fair compensation . Weekend supervisors extremely disorganized leading to missed visits, last minute visits and excessive driving. Also, the breakfast and lunches that are an employee perk are difficulty to attend unless Ridgefield is your assigned territory which is monopolized by a coveted few. Patients constantly complained about lack of communication on the part of the office staff. I have worked at 2 other home health agencies that were managed much better. One of the things that bothered me the most was that during a snow storm the office was closing early so the office staff could get home safely yet they were calling me on the road to add patients to my day. Not my kind of leadership. The office managers (all RN’s) should’ve left the office to see patients so we could all get off the road earlier. Not really sure how they have such a great reputation....

At time of hire I worked here full time and the company is great compared to others in the area. Direct supervisors and management cared about their employee but didn’t have much handle on the patient/case load. The promised case load is what drew me into working here, management with life/work, young kids and pay compensation is well. There is a high nurse turn over here and I’ve come to realize it’s because of caseload overload. Company is great in the papers until it’s not. An individual cannot manage all these responsibilities. Hopeful that they turn into what originally drew me here because This agency has real potential for nurses. Otherwise working here full time causes poor life/work balance which is the opposite of what more homecare nurse wants to achieve when going into this setting. 

As an LPN you work hourly, as opposed to fee per visit. You run around all day to get paid a small amount. Each visit has to equal an hour to get paid for a full hour. No home visit last one hour. If your scheduled 6 patients, many cancel. Which leaves you a few patients, mind you each patient is one hour pay... if the visit lasts that long.  So if you only have 3 patients, that's three hours of pay. They usually tell you to go outside of the territory you were hired for to gain more hours.  The mileage is 52 cents per mile.  Gas is too costly for the mileage rates given. The benefit package has a  high cost, and deductible. If you're an RN it's more beneficial to work there, as it's fee for service  for RN's. 

When I joined RVNA, I never anticipated leaving. It is located in beautiful Ridgefield CT in a brand new building surrounded by quaint shops and eateries. I was saddened to watch truly amazing employees leave week after week after week. I quickly learned that the caseloads were becoming unmanageable for the nurses, leading to burnout. What initially felt innovative quickly revealed itself to be nothing more than being involved in too many things at once rather than mastering what it was built on, high quality healthcare. The low compensation made attracting high quality talent near impossible. This agency has such potential but its foundation is crumbling.

RVNAhealth is a growing company, but remains true to its humble roots. The organization is well-known in the communities it serves and has a great reputation. The senior leadership are some of the most qualified I've encountered and are very aware of their staff. They know their names, will greet them, and pay attention to hard work... they are also appreciative of it and will acknowledge it. There are busy times of year where you will work more than 40 hours per week. In my experience, this is very typical in the nonprofit sector. The majority of staff members are friendly and supportive and more than willing to help. Overall, a really great place to go to work everyday!

RVNAhealth makes smart and logical decisions that affect the whole organization in an effort to remain a strong and viable company that supports its staff and the patients it serves. They are honest and upfront about industry changes and headwinds. The culture is employee centric and its policies support the best interest of all. This is why the company has remained an independent home health, hospice and Public health organization for so long. A solid company to work for with career growth. 

I really enjoy working for Ridgefield VNA!!  I feel that my hard work and dedication to patients is truly appreciated.  There is a great sense of community with the staff.  Everyone working together towards a common goal, treating our patients with the highest level of care.  We have regular meetings that center around patients needs and staff development.  Open Communication is important to me to provide the best possible care to patients.  Ridgefield VNA is a wonderful place to work, happy in my choice to be part of the team.

The RVNA provides an excellent balance between emphasizing excellent patient care, they strive to create a great teamwork type of atmosphere, have plenty of available support when needed, makes all the efforts to ensure following all rules and guidelines, and has many great employees on the frontline doing the clinical work and behind the scenes to assist in creating a very well-rounded organization which continues to grow.  Many smiling faces and a state of the art facility as well!  I believe it has won a top workplace award 5x now as well, which says something!

I believe it makes sense this company is rebranding. RVNA has struggled significantly over the past couple  years. They struggle to maintain staff due to unfair compensation and expectations. They had quite a few staff quit on the spot due to being asked to compromise good care and lie to patients about what they were eligible for because as an agency they could not provide. Due to shortage of staff we were asked to lie to patients about what the we’re entitled to. This is a top heavy company who lacks basic human decency. I would not recommend RVNA to anyone , professionally or personally
