The management here in the SD location, and Im talking GM not supervisors, is absolutely horrible. The GM is involved in no day to day to operations. Yet he has the final say if someone is qualified to cross train or do anything outside of their normal operations. Which is fine if youre engaged with your employees. But with that not being the case here the only way on his good side is if you both have a past or empty space between your legs. Employees dont respect him, they start talking behind his back the second he leaves. We're constantly back and forth on scheduling, and I mean things changing everyday if not every week. I wanted to like this place so bad cause my coworkers were some of the best, but like they all told me you need to get in the door at the pay you are good with and the spot you want to work your entire time there because once youre in youre stuck. GM only makes calls to make himself look good, if you think theyre going to do something for you out of the kindness of their heart or because you deserve it for working for it.... expect to be laughed at by GM. Literally will laugh in your face. Sad to see a decent place ran by a P0S.

Your ceo will tell you no more layoffs then layoff 40 people the next week your coworkers won’t help you no matter how much you are struggling the good ole boy system is alive and well your management will lie to you if your in the Chem mill and if you don’t jive they will mess up parts and blame you for it to get you fired or moved. They won’t give you a raise no matter the amount of work and extra shifts you pick up or how many jobs you know how to do. If you get moved to another area the ones assigned will walk away and leave you too do their job. Safety was a joke I was told to clean out the chemical drainage system with no ppe or idea how. Your job will be threatened if you disagree with a senior worker of the same position. You get misinformation constantly from management.

fun people to work with on the floor and in the office.

daily stress over impending possibility of closure due to VERY poor performance

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
work environment was ok. Culture was don't rock the boat and keep the doors open long enough to get some of the old timers to retirement.  

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
low key until the end of the month then sudden panic to get things shipped. Same thing every month as if the end of the month was a surprise every month.

Seems top leadership is pressuring some managers who care about their people to push them harder.  Something is going to give & the good will leave   

Outdated management tools, techniques, and methodology. leading to poor results from top to bottom. The number of single-point failure points is truly astounding. the software used to track purchasing, production and other vital aspects is from the late 80s and is essentially hot garbage. customer requirements for quality and ship dates are missed almost daily. and the general company atmosphere or culture is almost toxic.

What is the best part of working at the company?
Summer time sure was hot. Rose to over 96° f while running CNC equipment.  Not good. Black Smiths at best.

I never stress.  I rose above.

4 breaks and 30 min lunch and busy in-between

Some hour flexibility.  Decent Pay. Ok Benefits.

Micromanagement.  Lack of clear planning. Too many chiefs.

Environment changed with new plant manager. You expect change but not a tornado.
