If you're looking for an honest review of REM you have found it! 

I have loved working for REM (and all of our hard-working teammates) and here's why:
I have received a lot of autonomy in my position and been given opportunities to grow professionally. I am challenged daily and have learned to work through and solve my own problems; which has led to personal growth! There is an entrepreneurial spirit to most of the positions within our Company; meaning you are called upon to help build and better our processes. 

REM is a smaller property management Company where there are lots of opportunities to grow as the organization grows. There are lots of plans on the horizon for expansion and new developments! If you work hard and actually try (not just do what's expected - I mean go above and beyond expectations taking pride in what you do) there will be lots of growth opportunities for you. 

We have a performance and sales-based culture, meaning if you're lazy, want to follow a step-by-step manual on how to do your job and do not want to contribute outside of your job description, this is not the company for you (or any other sales based job for that matter!). 
If you enjoy being challenged and want a job where you're hard work and day-to-day activities actually have an impact in a businesses' success then this is the place for you!

In summary, this position and this Company have pushed me further in my career (and as a person) than any other position I have ever held. Yes, there are days when the job is stressful -  but what job that challenges you to be better isn't?

Real Equity Management pays somewhat well for the market, but you should not have any expectations for any half-decent raise at any point in your employment even if you work for multiple years. If you do receive a raise, which is unlikely, it is not because you have done a great job but because you are being given more responsibilities to stack on your existing role. If one  person leaves the company it is often the case that the company will not rehire for the role; instead, you will be expected to absorb their responsibilities and it is unlikely to receive any raise when this happens (again, raises are the exception and not the rule).  Moreover, the company culture is really nothing to write home about. The company places very high expectations on their team with little effort to support or understand the needs of their staff, and the owners are very happy to fire anyone who marginally upsets them. Some people last a long time, but there has been very high turnover in 2023/24 spanning from entry-level to management roles and this is not a coincidence.  

Expect no communication and policy changes constantly. They won't take advice even if you have more experience or knowledge on a topic. One minute they are great and agreeing on ideas/policies and then next thing you know they'll walk back on everything they said or agreed to the very next day. They also would deny that they had ever agreed to what you had talked about in the first place. Several times I had to fix issues that would have been solved or prevented if they had just listened to me. It really feels like the owners just want you to agree with everything they say even if it will hurt business/staff or just quit. They also don't pay enough for how much they expect you to work and all of the things you have to put up with.

What is the best part of working at the company?
You get snacks and drinks and lunch sometimes

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
not spending the money to fix things. They would want bids for projects but would never follow through.  They would let people go for no reason and job security is never guaranteed 

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
When people would come from the home office it was stressful because someone was going to be let go. Never any consistency for expectations. 

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
Usually laid back. The local bosses were great. The out of state people acted like you didn’t matter and were beneath them. Getting IT to do their jobs is impossible.

I have worked for Real Equity Management since early 2016 and have grown both personally and professionally with every passing year! Fast-paced work environment challenges its employees to be problem solvers creating an entrepreneurial mindset. REM really gives you the ability to take the reins on your role, implement your own ideas and help impact day to day business operations in a BIG way.
Definitely not a Company where you are just a number. Each and every one of their employees does play an integral role in helping take this organization to the next level. 

My favorite part of working at REM is the opportunity to own something that you have created. I really like the feeling of taking ownership in my work and having the ability to learn and grow as an employee. The company and the owners really like critical thinkers so if you are good at taking initiative and problem solving, this is a great place to work! 

The break room is also amazing. Lots of beverages, snacks, and of course coffee to keep you energized throughout the day. We also are granted access to a gym that is less than a mile a way. Great way to get a workout in before or after work or on your lunch break.

Do your best work and become a top performer and it's ultimately all for nothing when you are fired because the owners decided they just didn't like you that much for one reason or another.  For me, it was for telling them the truth they did not want to hear, that their ideas weren't going to work.  Just like me, they will replace you with someone with less experience, who they can pay less.  They just look at the numbers, and you cost too much.  It doesn't matter if your replacement runs the company aground with their inexperience.

I watched at least 20 great employees get terminated without reason and this is not a large company. No discussion was ever given to them as to what needed to be improved, no verbal or written warnings. They just say “we’re letting you go, we are not required to give a reason.”

I watched this happen to Property Managers, Construction, Maintenance, Marketing, Leasing consultants and more in Missouri, Oklahoma and Kentucky. 

Don’t think this won’t happen to you if you work here. I’ve seen it happen to several of the companies top performers. 

A position with this company is not secure no matter what your performance.

I can honestly say that management supports its team.  They go above and beyond supporting the culture and growth of all employees.  You also see and interact with the owners....At REM you are not just a number - you are a valued team member!

The benefits at REM are great!  Everything from time off, 401K, medical, etc.  I can tell the owners and management have worked hard to provide solid and affordable benefits to all employees.

Real Equity Management was consistently operating on a basis of complete disarray. The higher-up management really had no contact or much care for the people that were actually making the money for them. They were so happy to fire people, really didn't even try to retain anyone, and would constantly switch pay structure. They absolutely were in way over their heads.
