This position puts you and one other technician in command of a desk and duties in a 3 wing facility to oversee and report the actions of approximately 50 male clients 12 hours a day in a 2, 2, 3 schedule. Day shift oversees everything going on in an open air environment rehab. 12 headcounts, 3 meals, group time, rec, meditation, and downtime, you assess and report while working as a team to facilitate a positive experience while the clients that are participating in a 28-35 day stay are (sometimes) going through the most difficult thing they've ever experienced. those are the bare bones of the job. If you see the opportunity and seize it you can truly make a difference in an entire community. After 9 months i was promoted to coordinate admits. You begin by welcoming the client who is usually in a state of impaired judgement and taking their belongings to be searched then drug screen them and undress them. After signing release forms and being assessed my a medical team i gave every patient a tour, introduced them to the group and showed them to their beds where i had already placed bed fittings, any clothing for the client if necessary and hygiene. then when possible I would go to the wing and help search and seize any drugs, contraband, or weapons snuck in by means unavailable to me during admittance. Its a rehab and human ingenuity can always find a way so i became very proficient at reading body language and verbal cues. We used Teams, Microsoft Outlook, desktops and radios to communicate and report for 30 days to help hundreds of people who just want to get back to where the rest of society is stable and working.

A typical day at Avenues Recovery involves collaborating with the team on what needs to get done for the day.

My responsibilities include supporting staff while they help clients in treatment. Throughout the day, I engage in open communication with both clients and staff. Trying to figure out what supplies need to be ordered for the whole facility.

In my time at Avenues Recovery, I have learned the importance of patience, and the value of care. I’ve gained a deeper understanding of the recovery process.

As an employee, I'm never bored as no two days are the same. Working with clients in various stages of early recovery presents unique challenges each day, but with the support of my team and our management, I know that every effort is made to do the best for them. The level of support from management at Avenues is something unparalleled in my career. As it is with our clients, I know our leadership has my best interest at heart, both as an employee and as a person in recovery. The culture at Avenues is all about connection, and I feel like my colleagues are extended family, The hardest part of the job is when we lose a client to active addiction, but the joy I experience when I can truly help someone begin their journey to a better life in recovery is indescribable. I have been working at Avenues for 8 months. I am a retired teacher who has been in the workforce for decades and prior to my job at Avenues I worked on staff at a local church. This job has provided more enjoyment and fulfillment than I have had in many years. I am an administrative assistant, specializing in purchasing and HR for our location. I handle all of the purchasing for our location including office supplies, some medical supplies and maintenance supplies. I also do all of the HR onboarding for new staff and maintain their HR files onsite. I take care of logging incoming packages for clients and check through all mail that arrives for them. My job enables me to have interaction with our clients and work closely with all of our staff. The workplace culture is supportive and lively! We are always busy and although working in the recovery field can be hectic most days, I am enjoying it so much. The most enjoyable part of my job is the interaction I have with my coworkers. In the admin office there are 8 people on our team in the "cubicle area", which is right outside the office of our Executive Director.  I have found our Executive Director to be kind and welcoming and he has been very understanding during those times I have requested flexibility in my daily hours. 

Avennues has been a wonderful place to work and a typical day can be bus. For me a typical day looks like paperwork, engaging with clients and running groups. I have learned a lot since I’ve been here, About the job and about myself. I’ve noticed addiction doesn’t discriminate and many clients here Avennues come from different walks of life I’ve learned in dealing with clients. It is individualized to better serve their personal needs. The best part of my job is spending time with the clients getting to know them and watching them leave a different person than the one they were when they came through the door. The downside or hardest part of my job is to find out something tragic happened to a client that left Avennues has fostered a loving environment for staff and clients of life. They have helped me to grow and worked with me every step of the way to ensure my position interlocks with my goals in this field because of that, I’ve got to learn so much. Management is supportive and easy to talk to which makes me comfortable to ask for guidance. I’ve never experienced a problem at avenues that couldn’t be met with the solution. This is a great place to work and I encourage anybody looking to work in the addiction treatment field to check out avenues recovery center.

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
One of the biggest challenges can be supporting clients who are not yet ready to get sober. Those moments can feel heavy, but the team culture and leadership make a huge difference. There is a strong emphasis on meeting clients where they are, practicing patience, and remembering that readiness for change looks different for everyone.

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
Avenues Recovery Center offers a genuinely positive work environment and a strong, supportive culture. From the moment you walk in, there’s a sense of teamwork, respect, and shared purpose.

This is a difficult field to work in at the best of times: Regulations, unruly or uncaring clients, stress and anxiety, seemingly out of touch corporate, etc. But working here has a been a breath of fresh air. I've worked in a few recovery facilities and the environment, culture, and client focus has been a rare find. It has it's good days and bad days but in the end it's always rewarding. I love what I do. I love who I work with. I really enjoy working together for a common good. Avenues has all of the short comings that any work place has but I have never felt stifled or like I'm barely treading water. I've never felt unappreciated or taken advantage of. And I'm fully aware that I can approach my leadership with any concern that I may have. The benefits are 'meh'. That's probably the biggest gripe I have. Also I'm not a fan of working on Saturday as it takes away from my family. But I know that's temporary. 

Working in treatment at Avenues Recovery Center has been an incredibly fulfilling and rewarding experience and the highlight thus far of my career. I sincerely love my job and the impact we make every day. I have learned so much since starting, and enjoy having the opportunity to work closely with each department and get a true understanding of what they do and ways to help them. Our team here feels like family—we support one another and share a common goal of helping our clients on their journey to recovery. One of the most rewarding aspects of my work is seeing clients come in at their lowest, put in the effort and hard work during their stay, and regain that light in their eyes and the passion to live a life free from substances. It’s an honor to be part of such a meaningful transformation, and I couldn’t ask for a more supportive and compassionate workplace that truly cares about their employees and the clients we serve.

I learned a lot my first 6 months working there. After that, I continued to work hard with little to show for it besides recognition from my coworkers and building connections with the clients. The supervising staff could not care less about showing appreciation for their employees, or providing opportunities for advancement. They add more and more to the work load, with no pay increase to go along with it. 1st and 2nd shift are constantly understaffed, to where it poses a huge safety concern for clients as well as the staff. The clients show way more appreciation to the staff- which is why many stay on the team for so long. There are members of staff who genuinely care about the clients and trying to help people- and those are the staff that are being overworked, underpaid, and under-appreciated. 
If you have a passion to work in a field where you can help people- keep that passion and bring it with you to a place where it actually may be appreciated.

There is no such thing as a typical day at work here.  Working in a recovery center means that focus is constantly shifting depending on the needs of the clients. Although this can be stressful sometimes, I find it exciting, and it keeps me busy.

I've learned so much about the disease of disease of addiction.  Working here has also taught me how to approach clients with compassion and respect while helping them on their journey.
