One of the most rewarding aspects of working at this company is the opportunity to build meaningful rapport with clients while gaining experience managing a high-volume caseload. The role offers significant exposure and hands-on learning that can help strengthen clinical and organizational skills.

That said, the work environment presents substantial challenges. There are clear signs of widespread burnout among staff, and the overall culture can feel unsupportive. In some cases, clinicians in direct care roles appear to lack adequate qualifications or clinical experience, which is especially concerning when working with clients who require medication management, are dual-diagnosed, or have co-occurring disorders. These gaps can impact the level of care provided and add stress to the team.

Additionally, concerns around inconsistent leadership presence and communication contribute to a sense of instability. While the organization has strong potential, issues related to accountability and workplace culture make it difficult to feel supported in the role.

A typical day involves managing a caseload of 70+ clients, balancing ongoing outreach with urgent intakes that often take priority over other responsibilities. The workload feels unsustainable, and there does not appear to be a clear, long-term strategy to address patterns of recidivism or frequent readmissions. Although there are occasional positive moments, they are often overshadowed by the broader systemic challenges within the organization.


For many years, while employed at RNP before it became clinical. My typical day was more case management, counseling; therapy and treatment, my day would go as followed: read communications log upon arrival then perform rounds, wake up call: assist in meal; meal planning, med monitoring, assist in setting appointments to physical and pshychiatric Dr.'s; advocacy, assist in redetermination for DSS, groups settings such as relapse prevention, coping skils, life skills, social skills, character building techniques, interpersonal skills, budget skills,.; 1:1 counseling, planned outings; family liason, etc. The past for years, Under the new management, I learned treamendous amount of clinical work. Monotored Methadone line, File & organizing paper and folders; intakes; breathylyzer testing; pregnancy testing; Urinalysis; groups; 1:1 counseling. My Coordinator, whom I was under for many year was an awesome and fair person. Some of the Co-workers and myself developed a close relationship. The hardest part of my Job was the switching of CEO's and adjusting to the new method planning for the community from being more hands on with clients to now more clinical. All in All, the job taught me alot and my work ethics grew tremendously being around professional workers.

I have had the opportunity to work in multiple sites under RNP, serving in a variety of roles including intern, administrative staff, and counselor. These experiences allowed me to collaborate with colleagues from diverse backgrounds, religions, and cultures, which has been both rewarding and enriching.

As with any workplace, there are areas for growth. Communication, in particular, is an area that could benefit from more consistency across the organization. That being said, one of the greatest strengths of RNP is its people. The staff consistently support one another, offering encouragement during both personal challenges and demanding workloads. Even during stressful times, I found colleagues willing to step in, provide assistance, and guide others toward growth and improvement.

I am especially appreciative of the meaningful professional relationships I developed, some of which I consider lasting confidences. Additionally, working with clients provided invaluable opportunities for growth, often pushing me out of my comfort zone and helping me develop both personally and professionally.

Overall, my experience at RNP was defined by collaboration, personal development, and the privilege of working with both dedicated colleagues and remarkable clients.

I came to RNP as a young man in recovery, eager to find an opportunity after receiving my certification as a RSS (Recovery Support Specialist). After a year of other doors closing in my face, RNP gave me an opportunity. The support from the CEO and my managers helped me grow into an impactful agent of change, positively influencing my agency and the community. I truly value the guidance from my director while I juggle full-time work and attending school, as my education is very significant to me. Additionally, I'm fortunate to supervise several staff members, a role that my experience with RNP has equipped me for, allowing me to become a natural leader. Management within the work culture I've experienced makes me feel like a valued team member, as my ideas are always heard and appreciated.
Working in the helping field leads to some painful and draining rides home from work. I'm thankful RNP promotes self care and that I can debrief any difficult situation with my supervisor. The best part of my job is helping the next person suffering from a mental health/substance use disorder find autonomy and empower themselves. RNP embodies this and the clients will tell you all about it!


There are so many job openings at RNP for a reason. Management/ supervisors will go out of their way to protect those employees who were only hired due to nepotism. These said employees are not the ones worth protecting, have ZERO qualifications and put clients safety behind their own comfortability. Job security is a foreign trait. Zero responsibility and accountability from those who should be held in a higher regard. Promote based on desperation to those who are incapable of responsibility, respect, and have little to no moral or ethical standards. Client care comes second to at least half of the staff. The overall score of working here and how it’s been cut in half in the last 3 years says everything you need to know. The reviews are all right. Years ago RNP won one of the best places to work and they’ve just lived in that glory since. Despite it not being that for years. They will tell you everything you want to hear to hire you and to keep you on- all empty promises. Clinical coordinators, directors, and upper management are all to blame. 

The pay is decent but not great, however better than what I have seen other companies offer for the same position. The cost out of your pay every pay period for benefits is ridiculous, and the benefit packages are a joke... overpriced dues every 2 weeks and then still have steep out of pocket co-pays and coinsurance and other fees. Management could be better at helping new employees at getting acclimated to their position and responsibilities and making sure they receive the proper training to be sure they can carry out their job duties correctly and thoroughly. There are no 15 minute breaks to break up the work day, just a half-hour lunch break and you're lucky if you get that. The best part about the job was the clients and getting to work with them. Some of the staff were great, but there were some staff that were not so great and not all that personable. Finally, the job title was Recovery Coach, but this position was not doing much of what a Recovery Coach was supposed to do.

Working as a counselor at Recovery Network of Programs has been an incredibly rewarding experience. The organization truly prioritizes the well-being and recovery of its clients while also supporting its staff with professional growth opportunities and a collaborative work environment. The leadership is approachable and genuinely invested in the success of both clients and employees.

One of the standout aspects of RNP is its commitment to providing holistic care. The integrated approach allows counselors to address not just the immediate challenges of addiction or mental health but also the underlying factors, which leads to lasting change for clients. The access to resources, training, and a strong team makes every day fulfilling and impactful.

The work can be challenging, but the culture of support among colleagues makes it manageable. It’s inspiring to be part of an organization where you feel valued and where the mission to help others is evident in every action. I would highly recommend RNP to anyone looking to make a meaningful difference in the field of counseling and recovery.

Working in a detox center, safety is very important.  The day starts at 5:30 in the morning with the registration of the clients who are assess from the moment they enter the building.  They are assess by looking at how they walk, there speech, their eyes and their mannerisms, as most of the clients we serve have mental issues and take other medications as well, also most of them have a history of drug abuse, prescription and illicit drugs.  My assessment skills have improved a lot from working with this population, and how to manage and work with this group effectively and see results.  Everyone work as a multidisciplinary group to fulfill our client's needs, nurses and counselors and other members of the team.  The hardest part of the job is to get the clients to comply at times with some of the rules at the center. The most rewarding part of the job is the successes, when a client is successful and move on to a more productive life.

RNP is a messy company to work for. They don’t promote within the company. They make empty promises about promotions and raises. They promise work incentives then don’t fulfill it. They make an excuse as to why they can’t. The people at home office have not worked in the field in years. They are out of touch with clients and the issues staff faces with clients. I don’t know how RNP wins awards for being a good place to work. The buildings are rundown and look dirty. The client rooms have broken beds and furniture. It’s a shame of how little they think of clients and hard working staff that are there to help. They offer $2000 a year in education repayment and act like that will be worth the $60,000 college debt you will go into. HR will even make a point to tell staff they should go into debt for $2000 a year in education repayment. Like that is going to help. Then HR can’t even fill out the paperwork to lower your college repayment loans as a nonprofit. I am still trying to get my paperwork correct. 

I’ve had the privilege of working at Recovery Network of Programs for 14 years. This organization is truly dedicated to supporting individuals on their path to recovery, and it’s inspiring to be part of a team that makes such a meaningful impact in the community. While the work can be challenging, the supportive environment and mission-driven culture make it incredibly rewarding. Over the years, I’ve grown both personally and professionally and take great pride in contributing to this important work.

What truly sets RNP apart is its heart. The work we do is not only meaningful but carried out with compassion, integrity, and a genuine commitment to helping others. Leadership is approachable and focused on the mission, and my colleagues feel more like family than coworkers.
