This company is completely unprofessional with their employees. Working here for the past few years has done nothing but drain me, and break me as a human. Working with the other employees is great, but any one higher up is the issue. Management, supervisors, and even the HR department is completely against the best interest of the employees/guests, and more in favor of the company's economic growth. the managers are NEVER on property Saturday through Monday. If anything should happen, you are on your own. If you try to call them, they will not answer you. What's worse is that they want to control EVERYTHING you do while on and off company time. While I was working there, I was stalked on the camera as to when and where i did anything. Being on property was never against the rules, in fact they encouraged it. Once they see others staying on property, they do not bat an eye, but the moment I step on property, I am being watched without my consent. I am not on the clock or doing anything to jeopardize mine, or the company's image. the cameras are not monitored at all unless something happens or when I am on property. I felt disrespected and harassed because i would get screen shots messaged to me from my manager, who is a male, of me being on property, in the pool, in a swimsuit, asking why im on property. Sure the benefits are great, that is if they get approved and do not "lose" your request. You can accumulate vacation hours, and put in a request for the vacation and use the hours,but the managers would rather lose your request, ask that you instead switch it for a day off, or tell you no simply because they would be the ones who would have to cover and they'd rather not. There is no team work, no sense of privacy. Once you enter the job, whatever business you disclose privately with anyone will be aired for everyone. I disclosed some personal information to my manager and she used it against me and as an orientation of who i was to my new co-workers. She would constantly harass me via messages, phone calls, and email. I have countless emails, messages, photos, video, and audio evidence proving the harassment I faced daily walking into this company. You have no rights, or safety at this job. There are many times you are alone because management refuses to be on property and would rather take vacations with the hard earned money you deserve and they refuse to pay you. Sometimes I would be confronted with suspicious characters and illegal happenings all on my own. I would have to run  back and forth between the front desk and the other departments since no one was around to help and front desk is basically the lead for everything. I was paid $13 to be harassed, overworked, forced to do the other departments duties since no one else was around, forced to act as acting manager due to lack of management, and denied any vacation or requested days off. There is also favoritism in this job. I would be overworked and basically forced to stay 4 hours after my schedule simply because my reliever did not come to work, and management/ supervisor said "deal with it." But the supervisor gets whatever she desires. If she refuses to stay later, then she does not have to. She would disappear if you had a line of guests. She would take 3 30 minute breaks, and she would spread rumors behind your back. The manager is an absolute snake and will smile in your face as she stabs you in the back. Save yourself the pain and find a different job, Most people leave this job 1 month into starting, there's a new group of people every other month. You will be grossly underpaid and mistreated at every turn. DO NOT WORK HERE!

I worked for a few months last year in a Red Lion Hotel as a banquet/breakfast/housekeeping attendant and it was the worst few months of work I've ever had. The management didn't seem to care at all about their employees, and treated us as if we were so easily replaceable that we didn't matter to them at all. 

The hours are also obnoxious to work. I had to wake up at 3:40 AM to get to the breakfast shift, which was just overall a bad experience. The woman in charge of breakfast was grumpy and mean, and did not have a lick of patience for newcomers. And they used leftover meats and eggs that had to have been days old, and it was just overall dirty and tiring. As for banquet, the hours were always night, and they made the new people do the dirty work, and there was hardly any fairness or equality in the workplace. 

The managers would pick their favorites, and gave them the most and easiest hours, regardless of how long they'd been there. whenever I asked questions when I didn't know what I was supposed to be doing, I was treated as if I was useless and they would get upset. I never had any training, yet I was supposed to magically know exactly how to fold their napkins. Makes sense. 

The manager of the banquets threatened firing of multiple people, including myself, for small reasons. I was almost fired for dyeing the ends of my hair (about 2 inches) a subtle "unnatural" color, and I was told that they had fired a few people before for dyeing their hair. I later came to find out from a long-time employee that they had never fired anyone because of hair color, and the management had lied, which angered me. No trust. 

I was also told by the HR manager that having a face tattoo would have been more acceptable than me dying my hair, because a face tattoo is a "real commitment" and "patrons of the hotel respect that" but my barely even noticeable hair would "get a lot of complaints." OK. Note to self: go for a face tattoo next time. 

Almost everyone I worked with was lazy, and did a halfway job of everything. I seemed to be one of the only ones who worked hard, and we were always overlooked, while the favorites got praise. One male manager always flirted with the much younger girls, which was uncomfortable and awkward for everyone. but those were the girls who got the best hours, so I suppose that makes sense. 

There were also multiple incidences of unkind and prejudice things being said by my coworkers about patrons of the hotel, sometimes loud enough that they could hear, which was very unprofessional. 

Also, the only people who got breaks were those who wanted to go smoke. If you didn't smoke, the smokers would all leave to smoke and leave you to do all the work for 15-20 minutes. 

Overall, this hotel is not worth your time. The hours are horrible, and the management is even worse. You'd be better off working fast food.

This hotel has changed owners before I was hired...with that being said, why has there been different owners? My educated guess answer is that is it not lucrative, productive, unremarkable staff, and under-performing hotel on most days. This hotel has strong potential because it can function as a conference center, restaurant, bar, and other luxury amenities, however the local economy in Cheyenne,WY goes through downs especially in the winter and goes up afterward. Added to that, the senior employees bring their negative attitude which brings down employee morale. 

I worked as a server, I enjoy serving the hotel guests. I found great satisfaction in my job, but some of the hotel guest seem to take it out on me if they had a unsatisfactory experience with the hotel. I'm not sure if these disgruntled guests tried to contact the front desk to explain their complaints, anyways I would give them my best service and they wouldn't tip. Don't be surprised if you're hired as server and you have to deal with upset guest caused by the hotel side of the business. Some days were great especially during peak period on bus tour days or special events such as weddings were super fast paced as well as challenging but very financially rewarding. 

If you read the associate handbook, at the time of my employment that was the  RLH Corp but it was in the process of auction/new owner transfer. The handbooks says that it promotes a fun, challenging, and rewarding environment, unfortunately in practice the restaurant manager created a hostile, unproductive, harassing, and unethical environment. She was very arbitrary, capricious, stressful, and unprofessional. She played favourites with the senior employees that had been there for 3 yrs(server) and the 1 year employee that worked there on the weekends. She was unfair but did get hands on and help out occasionally on a whim. We were short staffed on the super busy days. Her leadership was questionable, she would be by the book with some employees but be super lenient with others. On a scale from 1 to 10 including all real numbers, I would rate the restaurant manager as a -10.

I started working at Red Lion Downtown 4/7/2021 in Housekeeping Dept. Pay was really well but in my first day it was a negative experience. My first day of training I was with a lady that didn't make me feel welcomed, she made me feel like I was a complete burden on her. Everything I did in the rooms she felt I was doing wrong yet I was doing exactly what I was being told to do. Instead of her telling me where everything would go I would have to ask and then was told I'm putting it in the wrong place. She kept telling me I was spending to much time in the rooms cleaning and to slow making the beds.She just assumed that I should have been as fast as her on my first day and know where everything was to go. On top of that, the rooms were extremely dusty, the windows you can tell were not being cleaned and it bothered me that I needed to clean these things but she was saying there is no time to clean everything. On top of that, a man that worked in laundry was going into rooms to gather dirty linens and taking tips that were left for other housekeepers. That in itself really disturbed me. I never worked in a place where I did not feel welcomed, it was negative and they have people working there that apparently are thieves according to the other housekeepers. It's really a shame too because I really wanted to work there, its a beautiful hotel under new management, I was really looking forward to working with a company that was ready to make wonderful changes with the hotel but with negative working environments and possible theft happening at the work place, it was not for me. 

The job itself was easy to learn and understand: Make the guests happy! Making/editing reservations and offering discounts, cash-handling, data entry, and daily customer service became second nature to me. Many guests complimented my skills in customer service and how I would go above and beyond the duties of the front desk agent to make their stay more comfortable; Many of them returned multiple times per year and regulars from corporate companies knew me by name and face. Even some of my coworkers and other staff from other departments loved working with me because I felt compassionate about my work and making the work environment enjoyable for everyone.  However, my supervisor picked apart everything I did because our personalities clashed and there was a tension between us that was unexpected, unintended, and inexplicable. After a year and a half, I became tired and frustrated with having to defend myself for not having done anything wrong and HR couldn't see what the issue was after investigating multiple complaints lodged against my supervisor. The turnover rate has gotten so high since the supervisor was placed in that position and there is currently not a single agent that has been in their position for more that two or three months. Many agents don't make it past a few weeks, nowadays.

I started in 2016 as a houseman, and was given steady work. That was a plus about working there. I always enjoyed making things look clean and tidy, since I’ve been in the hotel business for 20 years. You did get three breaks, including a half hour lunch. Also the pros about eating lunch at the hotel is you didn’t have to clock out. The cons were ad a houseman, you got interrupted even on lunch breaks. Since new management came along, and one of my fellow co workers got promoted, it went downhill. I often was berated and scolded for almost no reason or no reason at all. I was not recognized by newer managers for the hard work I put in. New managers would not let me try to do better, or to correct any mistakes I may have made. I often got chewed out, and they played favorites and were cliquish. Also instructions on what they wanted was crystal unclear and I couldn’t follow their cues because of it. They never explained how they wanted things done. Everything was unclear. They would say I’m doing awesome, then say I’m struggling. I basically was banging my head trying to please them, and they just were too impossible. I gave two weeks notice to leave and basically, there was not even a thank you for my hard work. In fact, the new management chewed me up and spat me out. So much for a two weeks notice. 

What is the best part of working at the company?
A couple co workers and several if the guests.

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
Having to deal with addicts overdosing, and a some guests that were good friends that passed away and having to tell their family members.

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
The owners culture and ours in the states are different. There's remind me when women had no rights or voice but could and did take the blame.

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
It was never quite the same. However, mine would vary depending on what shift I worked. If it a day shift it would be getting the check out paperwork ready, collecting monies owed, verifying no damages for room deposits. Assisting guests with questions they may have or issues that needed assistance. Midshift would be checking guests in, addressing TV issues, answering phone, making reservations,making sure monies had been paid, if not trying to collect it. Graveyard would he doing audit and making sure all the monies matched up,making sure new reservations were assigned to the correct room type for the right amount of time.. Answering questions via email and or online. Dealing with OTA's when issues raised. Taking RedLion Class's through their on line Red Lion University learn as much as possible.

Provide friendly, efficient and hospitable service at the front desk, check in and check out guest, Great guests with a friendly welcome, Input reservation that are faxed or taken over the phone, Verify and swipe credit cards for authorization using electronic acceptance methods, Handle cash, make change and balance an assigned house bank, Accept and record vouchers, traveler checks, and other forms of payment, Post charges to guest suites and house accounts using the computer, Promptly answer the telephone using positive and clear English communication, Input messages into the computer, Retrieve messages, mail and facsimiles for guests as requested, Close guest accounts at the time of check out, Run the night audit process, Ensure guest stay was enjoyable. 
The first job I had where people would lie to get your job and without evidence management believed them.
Mangement, however, was very supportive most of the time.  The hardest part was dealing with 19-year-old co-workers and it was their first job.
Most enjoyable part of the job was the guest, I really liked talking to the guest while checking them in and doing the night audit. I have an accounting background so I enjoyed the night audit.

A typical day at work is work hard, work fast and don't miss any details, I learned not to get involved in other peoples drama, I learned how to be very detailed and organized and how to be super efficient. My direct manager was wonderful she always encouraged me and made me feel like I could achieve anything and she always pushed me to be better as for the rest of the managers very judgmental and not very encouraging. My co-workers were for the most part fun and hard workers but you will always have some that aren't pulling their weight, alot of politics and drama. The hardest part of the job for me were making 30 beds in a day and being alone for so long we are not allowed to help each other so we spend so much time alone. The most enjoyable part of the job for me is when I did a really great job on a room and a guest would call the front desk or come looking for me to tell me how great I was, that made my day, housekeeping can be a repetitive and thankless job but when that happens its awesome I love to make a customers day its a good feeling.

There is no room for advancement. The pay is not competitive. Management is awful and he pays the lowest he can without starting drama. He pays new hires the same amount he did people who have been there for over a year. Experience does not matter as he does not consider experience or work ethics when deciding compensation. The location itself is not safe. No on site security. Management is very passive aggressive when you come to them about issues. Procedures and operations change day by day as the owner changes his mind quite literally every day. The hotel is unkept so almost every guest you run across has a complaint or issue that you are required to deal with because management won’t. This job is mentally draining. Other employees are fairly friendly but I feel that everyone does not want to do their job to their full potential due to lack of incentives/ appreciation. Management pretends to not receive sick pay requests, time off requests, or job reference requests so do not expect that from him.
