Nice place to work at. A lot of pressure to meet your daily quota for title 19 plus a lot of paperwork. It has been getting better though over the years especially with the new CEO. Getting a raise is hard typically because there is no money but when there is, the raise is low. People have been working there for years and are not near the top of the pay scale;that is ridiculous!!  The state budgets regional center to pay 38,000 per year to their Service Coordinators with a Caseload of 66 clients. There are people that make 38,000 to 40,000 per year with a caseload of over 90 clients. In one of the quarterly meetings with the CEO, he relayed that "I am trying his best to have the state raise the salaries for Service Coordinators (I really appreciate) but for right now we need to have a higher caseload since 38,000 per year is ridiculous".  This made me wonder if he understood how many Service Coordinators were offended by this statement since there are many SC who make that amount per year with a very high caseload. I think people who make that amount should only have a caseload of 66 clients, I think that is fair!!! Personally, I think everyone needs to get paid the same, we all do the same job! Or at least according to how many clients we have. If u want to get technical: caseload of 66 clients the state budgets 38,000. If I have a case load of 99 (lots of people have that amount of clients) then technically, I should be earning 38,000 plus 19,000 (1/2 of 38,000 since there is 33 extra clients which is 1/2 of the 66) equals to 57,000. This is very fair! 

I believe that there should be a flexibility of working 10 hours per day so we can work 4 days per week especially since there r low wages. The excuse now is that there are non except employees and for some reason they consider this a barrier. What was the excuse prior to non except employees? All the county social workers are non except but their payroll does not seen to have a barrier. I think service Coordinator would be happier.

I started working at the Regional Center late October 2024. Although I have worked hard and done my best to be as efficient as possible, my hard work doesn't even matter. In the accounting department it is all about if you are a favorite or not not if you are a hard worker.
If you are a favorite of the supervisors they will advance you or train you in other responsibilities. 
There is a high turn over rate in general for a few reasons: 1) The workload is a lot 2)They don't treat temps well and if you make a mistake and your supervisor doesn't like you and you are not a favorite they will hold that against you as a reason you don't get trained in other responsibilities. 3) If you are sick for more than 5 days as a temp they let you go 
However, if you are in the payables or vendorization department they seem to be a little bit more lenient with mistakes compared to data entry. But, they also play favorites like the data entry department. And if they like you, you will be trained in other responsibilities and offered advancement in employment. 


The 'leadership' here is pure evil. They claim to give you the right direction, to guide you, and then to astray. Now suddenly 'you haven't done this and that'. The management say you don't need to worry about your documentation time logged as much when you first begin this job, but then they turn it against you. Although they state even trainings get in the way of that for the first 9 months working here. I had to change two supervisors. Which a lot of other coordinators have had to do. The people here are unhappy, probably cause they know they're stuck in this matrix. This organization makes it hard to get services to families. You are not supported at all by the regional center. Also they are very weird, this one time I got an email saying that I was sleeping in a training, which I was not. Soooo weird. It's like they all have cliques and want drama here. Good riddance.

I enjoyed my time at RCOC but when the office began downsizing, it began with all the administrative assistants. I would have continued working there indefinitely. The people were good people concerned with the needs of our developmentally delayed consumers. I enjoyed interaction with some of our consumers as well and we all worked together for their benefit. The hardest part of the job was preparing the chars of the deceased consumers for management review because we felt like we knew them. The most enjoyable part of the job was the interaction among all the workers for the benefit of the consumers. At Christmas time the office would have a silent auction to raise money for gifts for the siblings of our consumers so they would have gifts as well. 

It’s honestly depends what team/supervisor you are assigned to. This job takes about a solid year of trainings and experience for you to begin feeling comfortable. Some supervisors are really cool and helpful, and some are questionable on how they even got the job. 

There is a heavy caseload and takes time for you to learn what works for you. Some coordinators in my opinion have very easy caseloads, whereas others have multiple extremely difficult and mentally exhausting cases. You are salary so you are expected to complete the job tasks/responsibilities, no matter the time of day. 

There is a nice flexibility and you create your meetings schedule so you are able to attend appointments or quick responsibilities during the day (occasionally) if needed. 

Do not recommend for most people especially if you get stressed out easily. 

I was with Regional Center Orange County several years. I thought I was going in to a job to help individuals with disabilities and their families. However, the Cypress office has other plans. Supervisor focused their attention on the employees and less time on the needs of the person’s served. Micromanaging is huge within the non-profit organization. Trying to get minimal services for a client was a dog fight. Pay is good for new hires however, seasoned workers do not get pay increases. Promoting to a supervisor gives a 5% increase. If you were employed 5-10 years ago as a supervisor you’re making less than brand new workers. Pay scale is not even. I enjoyed the co-workers and there were supervisors that wanted to help. But management was not for the consumers. 

Typical day was very organized with specific duties in a specific; routine appealed to my sense of order.
Learned many facets of working with Microsoft applications; 
Management was supportive and helpful as needed, but did not "micro-manage";
Got along very well with all co-workers & enjoyed social time during breaks, birthday & holiday celebrations, etc.;
Hardest part was when computer programs would not work during a training session and had to quickly resort to a "Plan B".
Most enjoyable was data entry of training and staff review information and working with newly hired staff.

What is the best part of working at the company?
They give you enough training to get the job done. They are very helpful and friendly when training you.

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
Maybe at the beginning and end of the month when we need to send clients their checks.

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
They have a good work ethic very professional place to work. Everyone is very helpful and willing to go out of their way to answer any question you may have. 

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
Well it’s a little slow in the morning and towards the end of the day it’s busier. The good kind of busy not being stressed. Everyone is very helpful.

Honestly I really enjoy working here at RCOC. I’ve been here for a year and 3 months now. I was lucky enough to get amazing supervisors throughout my time here. I never felt like I couldn’t ask questions when I was lost. I was approved to work from home 3 days after my annual review.  It can be stressful at times but overall work feels manageable.

If you’re looking for a remote or hybrid position, this is not truly hybrid.  It’s an extremely high caseload with minimal direction or assistance.  Many of us are seasoned casemanagers but this position requires a caseload of 90-100 cases.  The best part of the position is helping the families.  There’s quite a bit of work place arguments and crying as this is not an easy job.  The Service Coordinator position covers the duties and role of multiple positions.
