Everyone walks on eggshells when the President of the company is on the premises. He micromanages every aspect of the company and discourages independent thought by his actions and how he treats his employees. The environment is so toxic that they had to bring in a consultant to attempt to change the culture, requiring every employee to attend a 2 day "leadership" course. In actuality, everyone knows that the course was designed to address the President's own negative and destructive traits and it was simply a way to disguise the huge elephant in the room that no one has the courage to discuss. Many talented and professional people have left or will leave soon because of the inability of the owners to see the common denominator in the revolving door equation. It's sad, really, because the owners worked very hard at building the company and they gave the keys to someone who alienates everyone, except the chosen few, at every turn.
If the culture doesn't change and if the good, true professionals don't speak out, the company will eventually fail and go out of business.  The reputation of the company is already stained throughout the industry because of the company President's treatment of employees and customers.  I feel sorry for the hard working people who continue to take the negativity daily.  Under this management structure, they are simply rearranging the deck chairs on the Titanic.

Shady business practices, incompetent and overbearing upper management, and a total lack of respect for employees and drivers.

Drivers - you will be "hired" no questions asked, because this company is desperate for drivers. Read on to find out why. You will be shorted money. You will not do the work you were contracted for. You will be held responsible for dispatcher and planner errors. You will have entire checks withheld when you eventually quit and Relay charges you for damages to the truck you were using, even if you didn't cause them. You will wish you never contracted with this company.

Employees - expect to be held to constantly changing standards while being treated like you are more of a liability than an asset. The president is a glorified salesman who gets involved in daily operations, and he's prone to fits of rage and childish temper tantrums. Relay is mismanaged from the top down. No vision for growth or the future. Drivers and employees leave in droves. This will not be your home. You will not retire from Relay. You will quit, be fired or they'll go out of business first.

Beware of positive reviews. Relay is now telling their employees to submit positive reviews online to offset all the negative reviews they receive.

If you're new to the trucking industry and would like to get into trucking. Do not go to this place. You will be working over 12 hours and not getting a good amount of pay. There's no hourly pay here. You get paid by the miles when you're loaded and unloaded get paid by every stop. The drives are very far a minimum of 1 and 1/2 hours away and a maximum of 4 hours away. I used to work here and I had to tell them that I need to take a day off because I was doing 15 to 18 hours on the job then they expect you to be right back there under 10 hours the department of transportation states that an employee who works over 14 hours needs 10 hours off. They do not care about that. They are all about their money and you're not going to make much of it. I told him I needed a gas card. My truck broke down. I was on the clock for 21 hours and they argue with me about coming to work AVOID THIS PLACE AT ALL COSTS then after you get your check you have to take your taxes out and pay for your own health, vision, dental insurance. And if you do the math, if they say $800 to $1,000 a week, you only take it home anywhere from $550 to $600. It's not worth it

The pay is the biggest issue. Had management change things in my contract and never told me it was less then what we agreed upon. Stated I was going to make more and I really was making less then agreed. Took 3 months and not working for 3 days to get the attention of upper management.  Still never got back paid. Over all this company tries to take advantage of drivers as much as possible and don't care if you're okay. One of the worst places and would NEVER go back to them or recommend anyone to work for them. Coworkers was outstanding and only reason why myself and others stayed.

Despite having a dedicated route, they are constantly making last minute changes.

Can't speak for in the office, but drivers are not respected, jerked around and lied to constantly.

There is no such thing as a typical day. There is always something that goes wrong

The employees and contractors were awesome to work with. It was like family. The main issue is with the upper management and their inability to respect individuals. The way the president speaks to employees and contractors is appalling. No one knows what’s going on. No one knows who is supposed to do what. Work moral is horrible because of the way the management speaks to everyone. Don’t give raises because they offer possible “quarterly bonuses” 

I was returning to work after taking time off when my spouse passed away. Pressure of the job and requirements did not meet my expectations. I was responsible for contracting with independent contractor/drivers, maintaining CDL logs to meet DOT requirements, and provide enough resources to meet the demands of the company. My problem was that management discharged contractors faster than I could provide replacements. There was nothing njoyable about thjis experience.

I'll just list the facts:
Lowest pay in the industry, no medical, no dental, no vision, no 401K or retirement, no holiday pay, no vacation pay, no sick pay.  Accidents, you pay their $500 deductible. Taxes, you pay all taxes because you would be a contractor, and not an employee.  
DOT citations on truck, you pay all.  Tickets, city or state, you pay all. Full time work, when available. Equipment, older high mile trucks.  The trailers are worst with even higher mileage.

Working independently and being your own boss..

Was OK while I was there.. Everyone basically new what they had to do.

Get there in the morning load your truck and start your route

I haven't been here too long, but in my time here I have witnessed a healthy and productive environment. Everyone has been nice to me, and have answered questions freely when I ask. There is a lot to learn as far as the financial software goes, but I am sure that it will all start to make sense soon enough. All management has been kind and informative, I would recommend this company to a friend.
