This company is by far the worst company I've worked for. I worked as an AGS Technician/Manual Gate Operator. The pay was HORRIBLE to stand outside all day long. When I started there I was informed we were to be provided with winter clothing to stand outside all day. They never got us the clothing they promised. We weren't allowed to wear anything that wasn't business professional looking no matter how cold it was...I personally didn't think it mattered because you're literally seeing truck drivers in pajamas all day. When you first have an interview there they don't even tell you your position until training on what exactly you were to be doing. the company has serious favoritism issues. They will screw you over on benefits. They want people to work 7 days a week. My schedule to begin with was a Mon-Fri 8.5 hour shifts. Then we got switched to 12 hour shifts called texas twos,  basically that shift is where one week you work 60 hours and the following week 24. So one week you have more days off. And I did my 60 hour week and was supposed to be off two days and was on my second day off when I got a phone call in the afternoon from the supervisor telling me I'm half an hour late the schedules changed back. Now mind you I was put on overnights for the 12 hour shifts. And they went back to regular shifts and had me back on midday shift. Now I got no prior notice to that. I got no time to adjust and I got completely screwed out of my days off. I'd also say this company is petty, being given no notice I ran into work as fast as I could, when I got there the supervisors and new temps were in the office, I walk in and I don't even get a thank you for running like crazy to get there as fast as possible,  the supervisor just tells me we aren't allowed to wear hoods on our jackets...I've worn it from day one I started no supervisor had an issue. But that by far was the most petty thing ever, instead of thanking an employee for doing their best and rolling with the punches you nit pick them in front of everyone?  The morning shift people who got put on midday shift were 2 hours into their shift when the company decided to abruptly switch shifts and made these people go home and come back at 1pm. This company rants and raves about safety. How it's their priority. It's not. There is nothing safe about working your employees on no sleep. They also have you outside next to semi trucks all day which the way the lanes are is a safety issue to me. I've personally almost been ran over twice by erratic drivers. You're inhaling diesel fumes all day. They only have a few people to 2 on shifts. Not safe. I've worked out there by myself. Not safe. I wouldn't recommend anyone working for this company. Ever.

I had the privilege of working for an outstanding manager in IT Engineering. While he could be demanding and pushed people to be productive, he was always respectful, supportive, and had my back. That level of leadership is rare, and unfortunately, most departments lack the same commitment. It’s not necessarily because people don’t care, but often because they don’t have the skills or knowledge to truly stand behind and support their teams and customers. One of the weakest areas is HR, which often seems to function less as a resource for employees and more as a tool to quietly manage people out of the company. Bringing concerns forward can make you feel like you’re treated as disposable rather than valued. That said, there are many smart, talented individuals across the organization, and I’ve built a number of positive relationships over the years. Unfortunately, the negatives often outweigh the positives. Work is demanding and requires you to constantly be on your toes. Departments are severely short staffed, which fuels finger pointing, frustration, and a lack of support.
The pace is relentless, with little to no downtime. Even lunch breaks are not respected those in support are expected to answer calls during their break, which blatantly violates Illinois and federal labor laws. Employees are expected to always be available, blurring the lines between work and personal life. Boundaries are rarely respected, and in many departments, this creates an unhealthy and unsustainable work environment.

Taking a small look at multiple other reviews and you can clearly see that this job does not care about work life balance.

During my shift I would work 5pm to 5am initially, eventually I ended up going to 5am to 5pm.

I went to a sleep doctor due to me starting to have sleep issues due to work and the times I had. I presented this to my employers which they told me that in order for me to move to a different time, I will need a promotion or have a doctors note stating so.

I would take an hour nap during my lunch break to catch up on  sleep and some days when I would have to be back in the morning I would sleep in my car if I was near the area instead of going home.

The company does not have the money to hire more people so they make due with what they have and state that they are understaffed (because they are) and that everyone needs to put in more effort.

I had calls while working there asking for payments to companies we owed money to (note I was in IT and should not have to deal with these calls).

TLDR; The company will do what they can do be on top, you will have good employees you will enjoy working with but you will be stuck doing a majority of the work.
(When I was working I did roughly 40% of tickets that came into our queue)
You will be over worked.

No room for growth in the company, and if there was, a manager is never actually around to view performance first hand.
 Severe lack of communication and HR as well as managers hated sending out emails or having anything in writing, have to argue to get it in writing and even then you probably still will only receive oral communication. This came into play when put on leave without pay and had to wait weeks, after multiple emails, to get anyone to talk about anything. 
Job titles change on a whim and next thing you know you are running two desks by yourself with no support since management won't hire on or train anyone else to help out. 
Understaffed, underpaid, salary (and they take advantage of that whenever they are able), created a toxic work environment. High turnover rate due to the lack of competence in company overall.
And the best part, they love to "improve" work flow or introduce a new spreadsheet to make the days easier and smoother but don't know anything about the jobs they modify and end up giving even more work and stress to deal with. 

What is the best part of working at the company?
The first maybe 3 years was great! I loved it and actually loved going to work! But the last year and a half I dreaded even hearing the alarm go off! The best part was the employees that I actually got along with! 

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
Dealing with the new management and all the chaos that came along with that! All the people who didn’t like to do there job but got all the praise for it! While the ones who actually worked above there expectations just got looked at like that’s what your supposed to do! 

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
It’s a joke! Seriously horrible management…Choatic…To much favoritism! 

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
It depends on who your working with! If it’s the right people then everyone is doing exactly what there supposed to do and it’s an easy day with yardchecking and fixing gates when there broken! Other wise if it’s the other ones then your pretty much doing most of the yardchecking yourself! When your a yardchecker! Other wise in the office your dealing with all the chaos of the dab and the and the drivers!!

I worked at their Lisle office and several of their sites. While the middle management is excellent, hardworking, supportive, and genuinely committed to their teams, the upper leadership as of the last few years, has been a serious problem. The top brass demonstrates a toxic attitude toward employees that borders on abusive and demeaning.
Labor laws are routinely disregarded, with many employees working excessive hours, often weeks at a time without proper breaks or compensation. The work culture is virtually nonexistent, it's all about output, with little to no regard for work life balance or employee well being. If you have a family, a child, or a partner who matters to you, you're better off seeking employment elsewhere. The company’s future outlook isn’t promising either. They’ve started losing clients due to poor decisions made by former leadership. While there are still outstanding individuals and quality service at the ground level, the lack of fair compensation, stagnant pay, and poor treatment of employees is driving talent away. 

If you’re thinking about working here don’t. Management expects you to work nonstop with no real appreciation, and there’s no union protection to back you up. They overwork you, then nitpick every little thing to find reasons to make your life harder.

One of the biggest issues is how they selectively enforce rules. I’ve been singled out and targeted for speeding, while others seem to get a free pass. It’s clear they play favorites and will find any excuse to come after you if they don’t like you.

If you want fair treatment, job security, and a workplace that actually values its employees, look somewhere else.

The mechanic shop is an absolute disaster—both physically and operationally. Tools are scattered everywhere, parts are never where they should be, and good luck finding anything you actually need. Management doesn’t care about keeping things organized, so it’s a constant struggle just to get basic work done. Instead of fixing the chaos, they just pile on more work and expect you to deal with it. It’s frustrating, inefficient, and just another reason why this place is not worth working at.

Stressful environment if AGS tech in the field and especially at ROC headquarters in Willowbrook, where they have 70% turnover and everyone spends most of their available time searching for other jobs. Management is aloof and indifferent to techs. They care more for technology and IT people than about the operators of that technology at the ROC and in the yards. People are constantly under surveillance from multiple indoor cameras that management actively views 24/7 - creepy. Major micromanagement with no support, sporadic training, and dead end job type abusive scheduling on shifts and weekends. Atmosphere is a bad temp job not a career place, such as management and IT area. Very poor and inflexible schedules and low pay, with benefits that are skimpy and overpriced - take way more out of check than its worth. Save yourself grief, don't waste your time here.

A typical day varied depending on the needs of the operation. It is a 24/7 facility which at times required me to work different shifts to oversee my staff. I learned three operating systems specific to the railroad industry. I managed Checkpoint center which was responsible for the entrance and exit of all containers to and from the rail yard. This included verifying accurate billing and paperwork as well as identifying any damage or special notes for units. One of the toughest parts of my job here was work/life balance. What I most enjoyed about this job was learning something new every day and interacting with my staff. Trying to motivate them and conveying a sense of working for a good cause as a team was the best part of it.

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
Have a quota based system with unreal expectations.  They will write you up and fire you even with FMLA.  No job security. Low pay and no annual raises. This company should be investigated by the Illinois Labor Board for these violations. People should sue.

Stressful and management is cold blooded. No raises, low pay, unrealistic expectations, no job security, company is a revolving door of employees.

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
Constant calls from drivers. Some are verbally abusive. Most drivers are cooperative. Fast paced environment with more yards and responsibilities being added regularly without pay increasing.
