Work-life balance
Work-life balance at Hebrew Home at Riverdale by RiverSpring Health for those who are not union represented is terrible. I was a music specialist, not a nurse, so no union protection. Supervisors took full advantage of this and made the shifts very unmanageable

Pay & benefits
My pay and benefits at Hebrew Home at Riverdale by RiverSpring Health are dismal for those not unionized. Yes, the pay was $25/hour, but that was for a very specialized skill that I had to go to school for, no sick leave, no benefits, and not allowed to take more than 2 weeks for any reason off work before you are terminated (in the activities department).

Job security and advancement
In terms of job security at Hebrew Home at Riverdale by RiverSpring Health, I think they do not value the activity providers whatsoever. You can get let go at anytime for no reason. Zero job security without a union rep

Management
In general, managers at Hebrew Home at Riverdale by RiverSpring Health are practically sociopathic. My direct manager was very good, but the overall department head for the activities was immature, unhappy, punitive, and toxic. Double standards all over the place. After I gave notice she spent the entire two weeks avoiding me and wouldn’t say a word to me.

Culture
Collaboration with my colleagues at Hebrew Home at Riverdale by RiverSpring Health is great. The people who work there are fantastic and collaboration between colleagues is amazing (considering that management does their best to keep us separated from each other)

Overall
My experience working at Hebrew Home at Riverdale by RiverSpring Health was overshadowed by terrible and toxic management and no safety, recourse, or protection. The residents at the Hebrew Home or amazing as were most of my coworkers. But as every job holder knows, a bad manager can break your experience and when you need a union rep to fight for you and don’t have one, you’re basically up the creek at this place. Some people have great experiences, but if you’re not one of the favored ones, watch out. I would never recommend the department I worked for.

I visited or transported residents around the home. I learned about the Jewish culture and its history. I worked under the Volunteer Services Department. The workplace culture was slow-paced, very peaceful and calm. The hardest part of the job was having to wake up early to go to work for four hours and having to leave to get ready for work everyday. That turned out to be a benefit for me since I was able to complete all my required hours a few months ahead of time and continued to acquire more hours until I graduated. I looked forward to working with the staff and it felt good to have been able to have a conversation with a resident, or helped transport a patient to mass, or to the hair salon, and to know that I was able to be a benefit for a person who may have felt upset because they would not have been able to take themselves to the garden all on their own, or even with an assistant by them.

A typical day consisted of working 1/1 with residents and families offering emotional support as well as advocating for their daily needs. About 60% of the day was devoted to completing assessments on residents, using e-charting programs, for government filings. Responsible for coordinating the interdisciplinary team for continued observation regarding the residents and making recommendations for their needs.

It is difficult to say, in words what I learned, as everyday was a learning experience.

Working at the Hebrew Home was like working with family. There was constant support from management as well as co-workers, with management always having an open-door policy.

The most difficult part of my job was coming to work and finding out that one of my beloved residents had passed away. One of the most enjoyable was when you would put a smile on a resident's face, or when you gave one a hug and they would say, "thank you, I haven't been hugged in 10 years". Wow!!!

I work at the Adult Day Care at Night. It is very busy since most of the residents have alzheimers. They come in the evening and spend the night. My co-workers are great. We get along very well and have great communication with one another. The nurses are very nice and they help us CNA's out when we need extra eyes and hands. 
The hardest part is having to constantly repeat yourself and getting the resident to communicate with you, specially when some of them are forgetting their words. 
I enjoy working there because we participate with them in arts and crafts. There is a gentleman that goes two days a week to play the guitar and sing, another plays the piano and sings. We have kareoke night, movie night and bingo. There is always some thing to do no matter what time it is. I would love to find another job like this.

A great place to work at, surrounded by portrait like view especially during Fall,  when the trees are changing colors Because of the vast place, you can expect a lot of work and sometimes surprises, that will definitely add something to your experience. By surprise I mean, problem like scabies brought by somebody into the facility. This will certainly take all of your time because of the stringent way the facility follows protocols. However, despite this, things are done on a timely manner because of the cooperation among the staff. The hardest part of course, is when there is an outbreak, making sure that everything is done to mitigate if not prevent the spread of infection. Personally, the most enjoyable is, when after a hard day's work, things come out smoothly and all your work and effort greatly appreciated.

RiverSpring is a very diverse organization in the types of services it provides for older adults as well as its workforce.  We have employees from all corners of the world working here and helping our residents and members live a meaningful life.  I enjoy working with colleagues who are compassionate.  Most of them treat our residents and members like they would their own parents. 
The organization is a national leader in senior services.  

From the day I picked my major, I knew I was interested in coding. Applying to my internship station was nerve raking because I didn't know what kind of position I was going to be assigned until day I started. This was because I was bothered that I might be given a position that required knowledge outside of my skill set. Although part of my job was to set up equipment, which I knew, the other part of my job was flashing computers using Imaging software, which was completely new to me. As I went through training and learning the aspect of my job, I became comfortable with stepping into a new field. My internship position actually opened my eyes to try and pursue different areas of IT. I realized I was into computer programming and equipment Setup and disassemble.

Nice nursing home  the administrators and the employees there are wonderful to the residents, they treat them like an extension of their own families. The residents are every happy and cared for and do not seems to complain about much. I myself had the pleasure of meeting a lot of the staff there, the Administrators, Supervisors, Dietary, Nursing, Recreation, Housekeepers, and Maintenance.  All these departments keep the his place running in tiptop shape, from cleanliness to food service. They have a GREAT staff in Dietary department, THANK YOU to ALL of you. A typical day at work was getting coffee in the morning, checking the computers and their data. I learned a lot about the problems that arise with computers. Sometimes when a difficult  problem arises with the computers, at the end of the day the solution would turn out to be a very small and simple one. The hardest part of the job was the commute to and from the Hebrew Home as my house was very far from it. The most enjoyable part of the job was the positive energy that all of my coworkers displayed. It made my intern life happier as I completed my tasks.

What I enjoy the most working at RIVERSPRING is working with great colleagues and a wonderful manager. If you work well independently, there’s no micromanaging. People are considerate and flexible when appropriate to meet your needs. They actually care about their employees, and often acknowledge you. The environment here is caring and compassionate . I am grateful to be working for such a respected organization . It’s personally gratifying to be part of such a great team.
