Many changes and inconsistencies. Lack of support and direction from management. Lack of communication between departments causing strain on departmental relationships. Lack of development of programming and assessments. Lack of organization for the department.  
There is no typical day since at times you may have few patients and others you may have a lot. Each patient is different and some require more attention and work than others. 
Coworkers when working together make the day go by faster and more enjoyable. 
I learned to always have my own back and cover my tracks including making notations on everything and ever conversation between departments. I have learned how to assess many different patients from all genders, ages, cultures, and diagnosis. I enjoyed being able to help the patients through their treatment process.

Riverside is the area's largest employer and pays competitively.  They are very tight with the budget.  If you are looking to advance your career, brown nosing is just as important, if not more important, than going above and beyond.  You need an inside track - keep management happy, sometimes even at the expense of your teammates to get advanced.  There are a few very positive staff that will constantly work to make it better for everyone, but for the most part, people are there to do a job and go home.  If you're there to get a paycheck and can get your work done, you'll do fine.

Riverside is a great place to work and gain experience. But it is not a candy coated fly by job. Its a job for learning. Its a job for workers who prefer to keep moving and can cope with stress easily. Its not a job for lazy people or those who just do what they need to get by. The pay is not the best but its not the worst either. In general the pay in the area of Kankakee County is below average but the cost of living is ABOVE average. I enjoy my job alot and intend to stay there for the majority of my work career.

The job was extremely easy and the residents for the most part were amazing. I thought working for Riverside would be amazing but as time went on and when census lowered hours were taken away after ALREADY BEING SCHEDULED. I would get calls from my manager letting me know I didn't have to come into work that day and not even getting a choice. I worked there for almost two years without a raise and when finding out others who were being hired were making more than me I was done. The only thing I miss about the job was working with people I actually became friends with and the relationships I made with the residents

Culture is a mess, leadership is a mess.  Lack of clarity, you have no support from leadership, and you're constantly stressing on if you're going to be the next one cut.   5 - 10 years ago, they would inspire you and give you the tools to succeed.  Now they act like they care less about your professional growth and cut you while you are working as hard as you can.   Becareful, what they say to your face, is completely opposite of their actions.

Terrible training, terrible harassment work culture and if you report the harassment you get a target on your back. Directors just delete emails of the reports you send and then look for small reasons to get you in trouble for being a whistle blower. Nurses make fun of the patients and the training for emergency procedures is lacking so hard patients could die from the negligence. I would never recommend working at Riverside Medical Center if you have self respect and do not like being walked on and responsible for patient care when given inadequate training.

My Co workers were a blast to work with and we cared about one another.  Department management was  supportive and very approachable. They were awesome if there was a problem they would react quickly to solve the issue. Pay was not up to what the responsibilities were and always adding new. Administration was distant and not engaged with us pheasants. Health insurance was decent but $3500 deductible for a procedure was ridiculous for a company that supposedly cares bout there employees. 


My favorite part of my job was the relationships I built with the residents and my coworkers. They were what made me want to come into work everyday and do a great job. One of the reasons I left was because they hired a new supervisor that was not qualified for the job and even after 6 months of being supervisor, still needed help with simple questions and daily tasks. I also moved to another state. If I didn't plan on moving states, I probably would have stayed even with the lack of a good supervisor.

The management there is awful. They do not treat you like a human being. The nurses are always belittling the CNA’s, everyone thinks they are the boss. When it seems like no one is. The amount of favoritism is insane. The only CNA’s that get treated like actual people are the favorites. When you try to talk to management they always try to shift the blame on you. It’s a horrible place to work. Would never recommend for anyone to work at Miller.

While one of the larger employers, they do not have a vision that aligns with its employees best interests.  RMC would benifit from thinking with the patients health first versus their financial goals.  They are well known for working with dangerous patient:nurse ratios that creates not only a dangerous environment for their patients, but also breeds mistake ridden patient care with their frontline care givers.
