This was my experience, which was similar to that of my cohorts.
The positives:
You can learn a great deal about healthcare policy, the realities of client interaction and advocacy, and how to better navigate resources. These are valuable skills in life as well as in any profession involving humans. 

The negatives:
You'll be forced to learn these things on your own and fly blind. This will be detrimental to everyone involved, particularly the clients. The training is never up-to-date; this is not necessarily the fault of the trainers, as post-COVID policy changes occur multiple times a week and the redesign software is... terrible. 

There are continual promises of lighter caseloads or easing into your role with adequate training and supervision - those promises will remain unfulfilled. Your caseload will increase at an alarming and overwhelming rate. Your duties and priorities will be a never-ending moving goalpost of contradictions. It's the most frustrating and discouraging thing as someone who pursues a "helping" career. 

A lot of the middle management will "get it" and not shift the blame upon you for not being able to keep up with unrealistic caseloads (my caseload was well over 100 clients). Some middle and higher management will perpetuate a toxic work environment due to their own pressures, not having had the same case management experiences, and not being knowledgeable in the realities of the job duties. 

While I can't name names, I will say that if you work there, try to be on a team that has a lead or supervisor who is comfortable with direct client interaction and learning all the policy and software updates. They are the ones who will understand time constraints.

This should also be noted, if you're a non-white person speaking in a meeting, it's not atypical to be tone-policed and to experience ongoing micro-aggressions. This isn't surprising or unusual compared to other companies, but still disappointing nonetheless since RMHS cheerleads their diversity and equity workshops. 

I'm grateful for what I've learned, the money I was able to save, and the few times that I felt I made a positive impact (often difficult to do so due to the aforementioned toxic work culture). However, working for the time I did severely impacted my emotional and physical health. It's hard to gauge how much money is worth not sleeping, having weekly panic attacks, and having little to no social life, but it certainly wasn't the pay I received with subsequent raises.

What is the best part of working at the company?
My coworkers and direct supervisor were amazing!

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
The organization expects you to maintain a very large caseload of over about 60 clients during a 40 hr work week and doesn't really care about service coordinators' time or total workload.  Turnover is very high so service coordinators always end up with a larger caseload than they were told they would have.  Also performance metrics were confusing and service coordinators were not notified of certain performance requirement changes before the annual review.  I never received my final annual review which was due months before I decided to leave the organization.

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
The work environment was fine because other Service Coordinators created a good environment.  RMHS presented an inclusive and caring work environment, but in reality, it was very hard to move up in the organization unless you had connections with the hiring team, and leadership has unrealistic expectations of service coordinators and their time spent working.

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
making sure I was meeting my daily contact requirements with clients, talking with my coworkers and supervisor regarding my cases and caseload, as well as other issues within our department.  I would skip lunch when working in the office because management would monitor my actions during lunch and complain to the department director that I was not working, rather than talking with me directly or talking to my direct supervisor first.  After being reprimanded for not working during my unpaid lunch hour multiple times, I decided I was better off not taking my unpaid hour for lunch.  I was not reprimanded again after I quit taking my lunch hour.  Most days I would go in, complete my work within my paid working hours and leave as soon as I was done.  Leadership held "fun" events and invited service coordinators to join, but as soon as I had a full caseload I was not able to join those "fun" events as it would cut into my required units needed each day to reach my monthly productivity requirements.

They really do not care about you at all. Pay is not livable. Benefits are among the worst I’ve seen in 25 years of work. Management and higher ups like to hold lots of  meetings to pat themselves on the back for the work that you are doing. If you are disabled, find another place to work. Criticism for your disabilities is constant from management. There were talks of opening a food pantry for employees because the higher ups need their bonuses, and hourly employees are not a priority even though they do all the work. The only plus side to this job was their DEI department. They are trying to be more inclusive. Unfortunately, that department cannot save the whole organization. HR is a revolving door, like most of the company, so plan to wait for anything, which includes your offer letter, training schedules, and basic needs, if you can even reach someone in HR. Some teams have the same positions as others, but there is a severe difference in pay among people doing the same work, and for some teams, more work than others. Numbers are the most important thing to this organization. Clients and staff are just that. Numbers. 

Was not a great environment to work in, big expectations, they didn’t properly train me (it depends on the manager you get, which is not a great thing to hear, because you could sink or swim depending on the manager’s team you join). They’re going through a lot of changes right now, due to the State and just internal changes, they’re flying by the seat of their pants. There are some cool people there (employees and clients). Case loads are wild and they will dump them on you even if they said it’ll be gradual, it won’t be. And the case loads are messy coming out of the pandemic. You can learn a lot there about Medicaid long term care services but you’ll have to put in a lot of leg work because if you don’t get the training manager leading your training it’s a lot of the trainers reading the power points to you and not adding additional information. Morale is low. 

I worked for this company during the pandemic and worked completely remotely,  so things may look differently now. However, while I worked there I really enjoyed my management team in Intake and thought they were really supportive and cared about me as a person. Whenever I had questions or concerns about whether I was doing something correctly, either management or my team would help out without judgement. It was a hard job to learn completely remote, but I think the support I received from my peers made that much easier to navigate. I did, however, feel disimpassioned by the job due to all of the paperwork I had to do which ultimately takes away from 1:1 clinical experience. 

I know you see this often, but please save yourself the trouble and do not apply. Culture is atrocious. I used to know what my job entails, now it changes by the day. Management is not able to resolve  the constant challenges, that were created by poor planning and lack of ability by management.

They are severely understaffed because there was a mass quitting. This mass quitting was the result of poor planning, poor implementation of the plan, denial that there would be changes to everyday work functions, poor pay, a toxic culture that severely affects mental health. This is the most disorganized company I have ever worked for. 
There are no advantages for the employee working here. You can get pay and benefits anywhere. 

This is a great intro to the field. Issues with upper and middle management are the downfall. The same 5 people are continuously promoted. Poor hiring choices outside of the company continue. Middle management positions are added, making it more difficult to get answers. Middle managers are uninterested in listening to their employees, seemingly convinced they know best about jobs they have quite literally never done. Stepping out of line, even so much as commenting the wrong thing in a department meeting group chat, is punished. Middle management and upper leadership have said highly inappropriate things about case managers and supervisors.

I love my job because it allows me to help out diverse people. For my job I help my clients with basic needs; such as, preparing their meals, helping them change their clothes, exercising, toileting, helping them brush their teeth, improving different behaviors, using sign language to communicate, providing transportation, helping them navigate stores, helping them shop, etc. The best part about my job is being able to have a positive impact on the individuals that I work with.

What is the best part of working at the company?
The benefits and the staff. Lots of training and opportunities to grow when starting "at the bottom".

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
Depending on what department you are in, it can be a really heavy-emotional role. 

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
SEL (social amd emotional learning) awarness. Developing EDI awareness.

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
Busy and balanced. Making calls to folks on caseload. Documenting contacts. Complete trainings. Collaborative meetings (virtual mainly).

Pros: Wonderful clinical supervisors licensed in the fields of social work and/or counseling. Very supportive of work/life balance and self-care. Flexible hours with 4/10s available. Remote-first workplace (i.e. work from home and meet clients in the community).

Cons: Often feels like we are putting band-aids on bullet holes in this position. Constantly putting out fires. Difficult to sleep at night due to high acuity of client circumstances. Minimal safety training provided. Need higher thresholds for referral process and intake and more stringent guidelines for client budgeting.
