This company pays well but the good stops there. High shift differential for night work. Company truck and gas card. Paid for travel after 30 minutes at the start and end of the day. 

Time is tracked on a laptop. Trucks have GPS units that track your movement. Every minute you are logged in but not traveling is questioned and you are treated like a crook if there is a problem. Any questions about your time comes from the Atlanta office and no one there is nice. 

You are expected to answer your phone 24/7 and work more than 16 hours straight if they need it. They will drive someone from another city into your area and let you sit at home without working 40 hours because management likes them better. When the other person screws the job up management will call you to come in and complete the job regardless of the number of hours you just worked or how far you are from the job site. 

Management is terrible. They are not electricians. They are not leaders. They are not even managers. This company is going downhill fast. It will either be sold or out of business in a few years. Customers are getting fed up with the poor service. Field employee quality gets worse with every new hire. Field employees walk into a buzz saw for most jobs because management has upset the customer with their lack of ability. 

Extremely high turnover. Very few field employees have over 5 years at Rogers and almost none have over 10 years. After several raises it is cheaper for them to starve you out and hire someone else for less money. If you file for partial unemployment they let you go. You have to leave the company to feed your family because you do not get 40 hours per week. No concern for you or your family. Only concern is about the company. 

This used to be a great place to work. But changes in management sent this company down the toilet. Any electrician worth anything should not work here. You will not be respected by anyone in management. Office staff acts like they know everything but really has no clue what we do in the field.

If you are NOT interested in a personal life and DO NOT care if you DO NOT hit 40 hours every week...this is the place for you. You can continuously screw up and not be fired because they are so hard up for people. Just look at the searches they have open across the country. Especially in the Midwest.

If you don't care about raises or promotions, this place is perfect. Family run business that routinely hires husband and wife teams... sometimes even the extended family (brothers, sisters, cousins, aunts) of those teams/managers.

If you're in the club, you're golden. Requires brown-nosing for sure.
If you come in as an outsider and aren't an a**-kisser, forget it. You will always be considered an outsider.

For the last few years I was on board, there were no reviews given, and the question of a cost-of-living raise was avoided at all costs by management and the Rogers family. My last raise was 25 cents an hour, that was after 3 years of service. 

You will notice that the same people keep getting promoted, and you are passed over even though you may have had glowing reviews in the past. 

In recent years the company cut out sick days (you have to take PTO when you are ill), shaved off 2 days of PTO per year (the daughter of the owner, who is also the HR "VP" - conflict of interest, anyone? - sent out an e-mail on CHRISTMAS EVE to announce the reduction of PTO) and went to insurance that was cheaper for the company and more costly for employees. As a result, some employees had to get their insurance from another source.

You are issued a company phone and expected to be available 24/7, even if you are not a manager, not officially on-call and not salaried.

Highly stressful environment. The company does not care about employees (unless you are part of the "club" - and management) and will happily use you for years, then throw you away. BEWARE if you do a good job... they will keep you in the same role for years and years. Sometimes for the entire term of your employment.

Elitist and in many cases vindictive management.

My advice? Avoid this company at all costs.

So I have only been on as a temp so far but this seems like a pretty good company. They do seem to work you like a three legged mule but hey I don't really care...they pay well for this area, they pay you full scale to drive (who does that?), They pay you for a hotel, they pay you about $30.00 bucks a day per diem...no complaints from me. 

I guess if you have worked other places and driven hundreds of miles for no pay or gas you may have a different opinion. They work you hard but such is life. I think sometimes people will complain if you hang them with a new rope. It could certainly be worse.

All in all I like the people I have worked with. I don't know a lot about the company but I like that they pile more work on you if you can produce. There does not seem to be a lot of "long term" employees. I am not really surprised only because a relentless schedule can take it's toll on anyone. I don't mind working here but I would like to get hired on full time to get a truck, gas card and all the other perks that go with it. I don't care so much about healthcare or other stuff and I don't have much of a social life so working out of town is not too bad. 

My goal is to travel and make new friends, see new areas of the country and get paid to stay in a hotel. They seem to offer good choices for hotels so I don't have anything to complain about really. I think it is noteworthy that sometimes the left hand doesn't know what the right hand is doing. When you get too many employees it can be overwhelming to really know which way is up and so people can find something to complain about. Just put it into perspective. I like the employees I have met so far and like any job there are things that could be better but certainly things could be worse. I cannot complain.

Released the previous shift operator. The majority of the time I would run a screen printing machine. This consists of different layers of conductive inks. I ran RS505, Phosphor, Dielectric, Buss bar Silvers, Rear Electric and Moisture Barrier inks. I really loved this job and this type of work. I strongly believe that I would still be there if the company did not transfer their production overseas to China.
Management was very open with you they let you know exactly what was going on without beating around the truth. They gave all of us fare warning about everything example there was never last minute mandatory overtime only last minute voluntary overtime. I would always volunteer even for work even on Sundays. I loved the people they were extra nice and all had worked there for a long period of time. I liked my job duties and always strive for excellence.
Due to my quick learning abilities and fast grasping of the production work I was selected to be one of the very few candidates to travel to Suzhou, China and train new employees. Although they were going to be the people to take over my job I EMBRACED every minute I was there and tried my best to inform them of everything I had learned in the 5 weeks that I was there.
I miss working in the screen printing industry and would like to enter this field of work once again.

I worked for this company for 2 years and started out as a Service Tech then somehow became a Rollout Tech in no time.  If you like missing family functions such as birthdays, anniversaries and holidays then this is where you need to work.  Many of these were missed for me.  The money does not compensate for the time missed from family, I was on the road a lot.  After being employed here 2 years, I got hurt on the job where I was locked in at a Best Buy, my injury occurred around 4:00 am but I was not allowed to leave until the job was completed around 10:00 and even then it was not complete so I left to get medical attention.  After being up for 31 hours straight, I got assistance and was told to see my doctor when I returned home.  I did that and was told that I needed to see a hand specialist, did that too, and ended up having surgery 2 days later.  After being on Workers Comp for 3 months, Rogers Electric terminated me for misconduct constantly on the job.  Very funny because I was never given a warning or notice of such.  They even denied my employment for the same issue.  That is ok because while I was on Workers Comp, I was seeking other employment.  I applied for a job on line and was hired prior to my termination from Rogers so denying my unemployment was not a big issue.  If I were you and looking for electrical work, this is not the place to go.  Go elsewhere.

Atlanta tech. Hired in a service guy, never did one call. All "roll outs"
  Told them at hire I cannot do nights, the 6 weeks I was there, 90% was overnight work. There is no set schedule. I got ONE 40 hour week in the 6 weeks I was there. Usually get 20-30 at best.
  Then no work for the week. You make other plans, then phone blows up and you're being told you have to drop everything and go work overnight in another state.

  Their safety stuff sounds good, they expect you to wear a blast suit, face shield, and rubber gloves over LEATHER... if you do hot work. knowing darn well you cant work with that stuff on. AND, you CAN'T shut down the panel because the business is open and it will shut them down. Their safety program is to cover THEIR butt.

 You do get a newer van or truck, that has a rev. limit of 70 mph. which sucks when you want to get home at 8am you do get a laptop or tablet, and are expected to check every hour it seems.

the overall work is pretty easy, but they expect you to bounce between days, or over nights with little warning. {like a day} So imagine working days 2-3 days, then get a call for overnight the following day. At my age, that is hard to do. And it happened ALL the time. 
  
  I made it 6 weeks and said the heck with it..there are too many jobs out there to have to put up with that.

I'm a former employee. In the beginning they treat you well, if they don't like you, you will be gone fast ! Worked 11 months for them, the first In Hoover, Alabama then I was sent to Houston. When the job was completed, Edd Bass ( head over construction projects and Safety ) talked with me telling me he had a job for me in Oklahoma City but would be 2 months away so I collected unemployment in the waiting ( got to pay bills..right ) all was good. Well, the Oklahoma job didn't come through ( he put others on instead ) Edd tells me he has another project I will go on, just wait a little longer ( I did )..

One day my unemployment was cut off because Rogers Electric filed to them I voluntarily quit my job in Houston (??) All the while they still had me down as an employee with them on the waiting list for my next project. Make a long story short, HR did all they could to keep me from getting my unemployment back ( snakes in the grass ) I had to go to a hearing to regain my UE and Rogers lied to have me denied. Now I'm having to pay back all I collected through UE because of Rogers. I talked to friends now working for Rogers about this and they were outraged! 

Don't waste your time, especially watch out for the Arizona Branch they have the poorest foremans with no leadership skills at all. GOOD LUCK :)

Its a very rewarding work place. Its always changing. It is a top paying company in this field. At times they let you work as much as you can but they never force it. RIght now we are doing a big out of town project and they will fly you home or let you drive home when you need to, it definitely keeps moral up. The management is great, always positive and mindful of the employees needs. When you go above and beyond they always notice. Ive worked for other companies and Ive never been taken care of this well. Great Work Vehicle, Great Communication, as long as you keep track of you inventory you always have the right stuff for the job. The hardest part of the job is responding to everyone in a timely manner, conference calls and such. Some times you might have a really really long work night, and alot of people dont realise that your sleeping in the daytime and they want feed back. The most enjoyable part of the job is the flexability. They let you take on as much work as you want. Some guys complain about missing out on some jobs, but its only  because they have avoided jobs in the past. If your there for Rogers, Rogers is always there for you.

Rogers Electric is a company you can honestly plan on retiring from. I leave the house every day but don't feel I'm working. The organization, from corporate down to each division office,  is comitted to great customer service and a safe work environment not only for the customer but each employee.  Every one works as a team to accomplish the same goal.
Even though the company is one of the largest in the US, it maintains the feel of a small family owned business but with the added bonus of great benefits, which are a company truck,fuel card, credit card, great pay, increased pay for night work, vacation, personal time off, medical, life, and dental insurance, 401k, furnished laptop, cell phone, and digital camera, and that's not to mention the safety equipment and tools the company provides.
Each tech works remotely and reports to their division office via laptop so there's no need to drive your own vehicle to the companies shop which is an added benefit.
If you have the experience, a great customer service attitude, maintain a safe work environment, and the team player attitude, this is the place to be. All others need not apply because we are the best of the best.

Working here provides many opportunities for growth, learning and advancement in the electrical field. Many electricians find advancement from the field to the office. It is one of the the premier places I have worked. Most of the time there is overtime to be worked. When work slows a little we are usually looking for the break. Over the last few years I don't think we were very slow during the holidays, when most work slows. 

     When I came on to work here they were offing health, vision, and dental insurance. Vacation, holiday, and shift differtial pay. You will drive alot but you are paid to drive the same as you are paid to work. We work with major retailers during resets, many times we are waiting for them to complete thier task so we can start ours. The work is easy most of it is cookie cutter. It is mostly inside, not out in the summer sun, or the winter snow or rain. The insurance is good, it is also less expensive than the goverment marketplace.

     There are not many companies that reward their employees as well. One week vacation after a year, two weeks after two years, and three weeks after five years.
