My experience here started somewhat great but ended far from it! The interview went great; they asked me some important questions, especially clinical questions, which I very much enjoyed because I felt like no other company did that, and it speaks to how they value the clinical side of things! I went through the training, and everything was very condensed and easy since I was already a mid-level supervisor at another company, so this stuff was easy. Then, after I finished, I had some mandatory meetings with the clinical trainer, who was amazing and provided me with a wonderful overview of my job responsibilities and outlined billing, program development, and modifications with their data collection system. They took time to answer questions and walk me through everything. I finished that all up, and I was excited to get started! Then, when it came time to get assigned my caseload, they emailed me a list of clients in need of a case supervisor and asked me to pick some. This list was comprised of clients throughout California. Meaning you would do telehealth for the ones that you aren't within driving distance. I did, and let them know I would take on a few, and then after a month, if I felt I could take more, I would! They were understanding and great about it! They emailed me a week later asking if I could take on more because they had clients who just lost a CS and needed a new one. I declined, but they would send out an email literally every so often. They even asked me to drive to someplace I had never even heard of because they needed someone to complete an assessment for a new client. Um, I don't know how to do an assessment, and also, aren't BCBA's the ones who do the assessments? 

Also, if you do end up working here, they rely heavily on emails for all communication, a ton of emails, which is incredibly overwhelming for someone who is brand new to a company. But I thought, oh well, just get through them within the next few days as I get set up. Well, two days later, I got an email about a report being late for a client who I had just joined. And there is no BCBA on this case! So I instantly responded, asking if I could get an extension since I just received this case. They say yes, but I also get a message stating that this should have gone to the BCBA or the clinical director two weeks ago for review. Um, I just joined this case less than two days ago. But okay. I completed the progress report (which I also needed to meet with parents to complete a Vineland assessment) in less than a week. During my meeting with this parent, they reported that they had not had anybody come to their house in months, to which I responded that I would notify whoever to get a new BT assigned. They mentioned that the previous BCBA also had troubles with this BT and was not able to overlap at all before they left. This BT hadn't been there in over 4 months, and nobody even figured to restaff them. 

Then, I began to overlap with some cases in that I was within driving distance, and wow, was this an experience! First of all, one of the BTs was leaving 30 minutes before the end of their session end time, and when asked, they stated that this was worked out with the company, but they were billing to a client, which I thought was highly inappropriate. I did mention this to them, and they stated they would look into it. No response after that. The other BT, on the other case, was literally during the entire session, bad-mouthing the BCBA and the parents. Not only that but in the group chat that the BCBA had added me to with the BTs and the parents, the BT was fighting with a parent about their sick kids. I get when kids are sick, parents need to cancel, but there was a professional way of saying those things. Also, what company allows the parents and BT to exchange phone numbers? That's a recipe for disaster and the ethics of dual relationships!

Anyway, I had about 10 cases, and I was realistically only able to overlap four clients, as the rest either had non-responsive BTs, BTs who canceled and would not tell you, or cases with no BTs. Not to mention, they blame you for not communicating as quickly as they want you to. Like, come on, I get you need responses quickly, but if it's urgent, call me. 

I do NOT recommend this company, the company has a ton of flaws, that need to be worked out, and you need to figure this out before taking on more clients and more staff. 


What is the best part of working at the company?
Very poor communication between workers and staff. Little or no training with clients except for mandatory monthly meetings (only paid at minimum wage instead of normal rate). All of their clients have some form of mental issues. These meetings only say what not to do and what you better do! No training pertaining to individual clients.
Constant change of case supervisors. Often leaving without any notice of their  leaving causing educators to wonder what to do until some other case supervisor steps in, sometimes 3-6 weeks.
A positive note is the pay is always on time and early on three day weekends or holidays.
When I started they had many positions in my area with pay from $21.--29 per hour. Now there are no assignments near me  (south Kern and north Los Angeles counties). All assignments pay too low for what is expected.  I did have many great reviews from the parents of the kids that I was assigned to. I have been actively seeking other employment. I'm very disappointed how this experience has turned out, since I first began in Feb.24. 
At the beginning I was told to get a TB test which they said I would be reimbursed the $50. that it cost me, they never did , then claimed that they never agreed to that! When I had the clinic fax the proof they claimed they never got it. They will also expect you to pay for a first aid and CPR course out of your own money to hold the job.
Think twice before working for this company!

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
Constantly changing case supervisors and no notice when they leave. 
Lack of concern for their workers. Educators are expected to pay for all training materials out of their own money with no reimbursement.

Overall, my experience with the company has included both supportive and challenging aspects. I have felt genuinely supported by my lead BCBA and clinical team, and I appreciate the collaboration, clinical guidance, and willingness to help troubleshoot cases when needed. The clinical support available has been a strong part of my experience.

When I was initially hired, my position was structured as salaried, which provided a sense of stability and clarity in expectations. About a year into employment, the organization transitioned away from salaried BCBA roles and moved all clinicians into an hourly structure. While I understand that companies evolve and adapt their models, this change contributed to a sense of reduced long-term stability.

In addition, BCBA caseload expectations increased, with clinicians often carrying 20 or more clients in order to maintain full-time status. Balancing this level of caseload alongside supervision and administrative responsibilities can be demanding and sometimes impacts overall workload sustainability.

More recently, adjustments were made to the compensation structure for non-billable activities, which affected pay for essential clinical duties such as documentation, supervision, and other required administrative tasks. This has added another layer of variability to compensation and workload balance.

Despite these challenges, I do value the clinical support within the organization and the positive working relationships with leadership. My feedback is mainly centered around consistency and long-term stability in role structure and compensation, which I believe would further strengthen clinician satisfaction and retention. 

I recently concluded my tenure at Roman Empire ABA Services, and I feel compelled to share my experience for the benefit of potential future employees. The work environment was characterized by an excessive level of micro-management, which significantly hindered both productivity and job satisfaction.

Throughout my time at the company, there was a pervasive atmosphere of toxicity that impacted the overall morale of the team. Communication was often marred by a lack of transparency and constructive feedback, fostering an environment where employees felt undervalued and unsupported.

The incessant micromanagement not only stifled creativity but also hindered the development of independent problem-solving skills. This approach ultimately led to a demoralized workforce, impacting overall team cohesion and hindering the achievement of collective goals.

Furthermore, the toxic culture made it challenging to express concerns or seek assistance, as there was a palpable fear of reprisal. The lack of a supportive and open environment detracted from the potential for professional growth and hindered the collaborative spirit necessary for a successful workplace.

In summary, my experience was overshadowed by the negative impact of micro-management and a toxic work environment. I would caution prospective employees to thoroughly consider these aspects before joining the company, as they significantly impact job satisfaction and overall career development.

I enjoyed working with the families. I was assigned to two clients then unfortunately after a few months they got removed from my caseload. The issue was not that, but management and the "mandatory staff meetings". Management took too long to get back to emails. When I gave my two week notice, HR staff was getting back to me weeks later. I returned the work tablet, yet was still receiving passive aggressive emails to return the tablet (even after I sent a picture of the receipt of return and received a response). I had to block their email (literally block) because they were assigning me caseloads (the welcome email when you get a client) to clients not in my area and after I left the company.
The mandatory staff meetings. The trainer was nice on camera, but would always ignore my emails. She would force you to turn your camera on or she would mark you as absent. If you were driving or doing anything else, she could call you out on it. The staff meetings were around 5pm so a lot of single parents had to drive to pick up their kids. The trainer didn't feel that as a "reason" to not be on time to the meeting. I have asked questions during the meeting and she would ignore it. 
My notes were "always wrong" but would not receive the notification of the error until 2 months later. I was forced to redo all my notes from the beginning months later. They would want everything detailed yet there was not enough space to type out our notes. 

Pros: * You create your schedule based on the consumers weekly availability.
* You create your lesson plan/ materials based on consumers (clients) assigned domains/ activities. 
* Remote opportunity, as well as digital platform to submit paperwork via Paycom Services.


Cons: * It is predominately Independent/ self-guided work, which can be difficult if you like human interaction and need someone to aid you with assistance in a work environment. 
* Meeting consumer’s monthly hours can be anxiety provoking when receiving a group text asking whether or not you have met the expected service hours. Ensure you have made your best effort with the consumer to schedule/ make up hours if the consumer cancels for any reason (predominantly sickness/ or family emergencies is when this happens).

* Each consumer is assigned a monthly service hour cap per the Regional Center, sometimes these hours to achieve can be high and the consumer will become overstimulated or has work/ school so it is unrealistic to complete all service hours. Do what you can based on the consumer’s availability.


A 6 month report or even 3 month report displaying a consumers progress with the Educator. Data highlighting the domains/ activities that have been mastered versus those that need work based on the collection of your Daily Logs from each session. 

It's been a year working at the company. Within my year I've gained almost all the experience one can imagine in regards to being a practicum student and gaining experience to apply once one obtains a BCBA licensing. I love all the BCBAs that I work for; they provide me with feedback, guide me, and one can truly tell that they want what's best for their supervisee/case supervisor. My typical workday depends on my clients or BTs. The downside to being a case supervisor is that your hours depend on the clients and BTs if one cancels then there go your hours for the day since indirect hours should be billed at a minimum. But the company is working on fixing this issue and is hiring substitutes so that clients and clinical teams do not miss hours. 

I honestly do love Roman Empire; every company does have its "downsides" but in my experience, the pros definitely outweigh the cons. I would not have had the experience that I do right now at any other ABA company and I can definitely rely upon and constantly ask BCBAs and upper-level admin for questions at all times with no hesitation. They definitely make you feel heard and respected which was something past companies I worked for lacked. 

The job is flexible and works with your schedule. You have a lot of support by the staff to make sure you have everything you need. Sometimes it  can be hard to get  a hold of certain people within the company when you need to speak about something, however they do there best to get back with you as quickly as possible to resolve the problem. You are paid decently and get ok benefits, however reimbursement for drive time is not much. Overall I enjoy working with the company, the only real negative thing I have to say about it is , higher staff such as Executive staff, Human Resources, and ABA Scheduling get all holidays off while BTs have to work on major holidays. I don’t feel like that is right or fair and I feel like it should Be provided to all employees  that work with the company. When you take time off for the holiday, they  ask you to find a day or time  to make up session for the holiday that you chose to take off.  If anything Christmas and thanksgiving should automatically be time off for all employees. Or I feel of employees have to work holidays , they should be paid more for that day. 

The following is from the perspective of an employee who's job title was (Educator): 

I would say this company is inconsistent and unreliable with employee hours. This is often due to the demographic the company assists. Unfortunately, if a consumer/client cancels or reschedules, the employee takes the financial losses. Often times that can be 4 to 6 hours out of an 8 hour day. There is no well defined standard in place to ensure an employee (educator)  makes up their hours, or is compensated if adjustments for a client on educator's roster are made. There is no sick leave, or paid time off for educators. The company does not have a well defined teaching rubric in trainings, and often do not hold trainings for the assistance needed for their clients. Often times an educator will need to ask for assistance with a client whether an educator is on the clock or not. Employee must use their own personal phone for work. The best part of the job is teaching/coaching, and building relationships with different clients.

What is the best part of working at the company?
I started out as an educator out in the field became the resource trainer, and now I'm the assessor writing all progress reports for all the. Regional centers. I enjoy every day going into the office. Being supported by my team, communication is key.
The owner is extremely supportive of our growth and development and provides a great environment.

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
I am not stressed out at my work. If that's what you wanna call it, I just always feel that communication is key.

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
I truly enjoy and am happy and the environment that I am in. The culture is always working as a team lifting each other up. Helping each other and their growth. number one is our consumers and families. We service.

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
Checking my emails, making the phone calls to families. And the consumers reaching out to service coordinators at the regional center, completing 5 to 8 progress reports checking in with my team.
