Days were challenging, however most charge RNs promoted team work and demonstrated ethical leadership using good and honest judgement. I learned fast problem solving and multitasking skills. The team used honest feedback and training processes to sharpen tech skills. There was a lot of pressure and hostility at times, however management and charge nurses handled it well. 

I worked PRN so my pay and benefits differed from others. I did love the flexibility in freedom of choice in my schedule. 

Very professional management, assertive feedback with the intentions to help you grow and prosper in the company.  Management  handled problems unbiasedly and with an open ear. They offered many opportunities to help solve workplace issues before considering termination. The manager had good judgement in character. 

Workplace bullying is a growing issue in the medical field. Having a good moral RN manager is becoming more rare. I will say I am very blessed to have worked under two particular RN managers at Roper St Francis. 

Yes there was bullying that went on, yes I experienced it. However, it was handled professionally and typically would seize after a week or two. 

The hardest part about the job was that I had a certain RN discourage me from becoming a nurse. No one with an interest in skilled nursing should be discouraged from becoming an RN, even if they find that its not the area they want to work in.  There are so many different areas in the medical field that may be a better fit for someone. This was an older highly skilled charge nurse that discouraged a much younger technician from her dreams.  That should never happen. We will always need nurses, no one should ever be discouraged from becoming one. 

The issues with this RN were later resolved, however I will never forget those words that were said to me. Anyone with a passion for nursing has the potential to become a successful RN. 

My feedback for the nursing teams would be to get the help they need to continue doing what they do best. It is a hard and emotionally draining job. St. Francis has licensed counselors who are available within the building. I think all nurses should be required to see a counselor. Nurses and techs need someone to help them process the trauma they come across everyday.  Otherwise things get taken out on other team members and even patients.

A typical day at work as a medical office receptionist at Roper St. Francis Healthcare involved managing patient check-ins and check-outs, answering phone calls, scheduling appointments, verifying insurance information, and assisting with billing and documentation. I worked 12-hour shifts three to four days a week, which required strong organization, efficiency, and the ability to multitask in a fast-paced clinical environment.
Through this role, I learned a great deal about medical office operations. I gained familiarity with medical terminology, clinical workflows, insurance filing, and billing procedures. I also strengthened essential professional skills, including communication, time management, and attention to detail, particularly when interacting with patients and healthcare staff.
Management at Roper St. Francis Healthcare was highly efficient, supportive, and well-organized. Scheduling time off was straightforward, and leadership communicated expectations clearly while ensuring staff felt supported in their roles.
The workplace culture was one of the strongest aspects of the position. The environment was collaborative, respectful, and encouraging, and the sense of community among staff created a positive and motivating atmosphere. Team members were always willing to help one another, which contributed to a smooth and supportive workday.
The hardest part of the job was managing a high volume of tasks during busy periods while maintaining accuracy and professionalism. However, this challenge helped me grow and become more confident in handling responsibility under pressure.
The most enjoyable part of the job was working in a healthcare setting where I could contribute to patient care in a meaningful way. Building relationships with patients and being part of a supportive healthcare team made the role both rewarding and fulfilling.

Roper St. Francis Hospital is a Fantastic healthcare system and a Fabulous place to work. 
When I arrived on the floor to work my shift we would give detail information of the patient and there needs from me as a PCT. The charting off was a very smooth and beneficial process. It was very patient-centered which I think is important for the patient to be apart of there care.
I would introduced myself to each of the patients I was caring for during my shift and wrote my name on the board as their PCT along with their Nurse and the acting Nursing Supervisor.
l had a varied of responsibilities such as Vitals, Accu-cheks, Bladder scans, EKG’s, Telemetry, Place Condom catheters, Insert and D/C Foleys, In and out Foleys, D/C IV’s, UA specimens, Stool cultures, ADL’s, Reporting off, Charting, Full patient care, obtaining new patient status upon admission, Patient education, Wound care, Medical History, Patient History, and starting IV fusions.
Management was great and very informative and supportive.
I really can not pinpoint anything in particular that was difficult with my job duties and responsibilities. It has always been an honor to help someone and put a smile on there face. 
I have always been a people person and always enjoyed working with people and helping them anyway I can; within my scope of practice. 
I had plenty of opportunity to participant, assist and work along side the RN's who were extremely pleasant to work with. We were a team and worked well together.

What is the best part of working at the company?
The staff, my team, worked together very well. I will miss everyone from front desk crew to the techs I worked with side by side to the Supervisor and even Manager. Also communicated very well with the Director - great people and I hope to return as a travel Mammo tech in January if possible. 

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
Scheduling made the flow of the patients complicated. Schedulers should have to ask more questions to help the techs figure out what the patients really  need for that appointment. It would save so much time. Patients should not be put on Diagnostic schedule without having  the prior mammograms uploaded in system for the Radiologist.  This would save so much time and frustration with the Radiologist most importantly and the time the tech has to figure out if they’ve been requested and had not come in time or start a request fresh. 


What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
Work environment was fun , set up had each tech with their own chair and computer. In a stressful daily race to get patients in and out everyone worked together and pushed through as a team while having good Camaraderie.  

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
Tiring as we have so many patients and only so many techs. We all are exhausted by days end.

Patient to PCT and RN ratios were not that great on certain floors. Ratios were unique to each unit. We were short staffed quite a bit which seems to be the new norm in healthcare. In the beginning everything was pretty smooth. Often times I felt like I was in high school. Staff constantly picking on one another or get bent out of shape so easily or the smallest things. People worrying about what others are doing more so than their patients. When certain groups of staff got together, we got the job done and had fun while doing it and some days you would have people who complain the whole shift as if that would make it any better. Some issues were within upper management because they simply do not take the time to find out the each unit is ran day to day. They base most things off of what they see on paper or from their past experiences from working on the floor decades ago. Every other issue seems to be between peers and managers being too buddy buddy with staff and not holding all of us accountable.

Typical day at work is you come in get your report do walking rounds and introduce yourself to your patients,  and do your vitals , acu checks , empty drains and tubes , take people to bathroom ect , 
I have learned a lot from roper and have definitely made me a better employee and sharpen my skills ,  I feel management is fair and are very active in employees and making things better , I have a great boss and team who I enjoy 😊,  I’m never stressed coming to work or when I go home , team work here is absolutely amazing and everyone works well together to get the job done and that the patients are Welles cared for , 
Everyone here is super friendly and smiles and very helpful , 
The hardest part of the job is at times we may have to work short staff like everyone else , but the great part is nurses jump in and also help thier techs out ,   
My most enjoyable would be my team and boss and everyone I have met so far !  I truly have no compliants and have enjoyed my time working for this great company 

I always wanted to work for Roper and because of that I started off my first few months highly optimistic. Unfortunately it's like most organizations that sacrifice patient care due to costs. Very unorganized in a lot of its processes. They have a lot of good ideas for helping the community but have difficulty implementing a lot of the ideas. They bite off more than they can chew all the time spending and they waste resources that could have went elsewhere. It's so confusing now, a lot of healthcare facilities partner with outside facilities so that they can use the Roper name and their not really apart of Roper. It confuses patients. It takes a long time for errors to improve. Raises are laughable. Healthcare benefits are the same expense as other companies, so no real advantage. They only offer CEs for Nursing and Physician staff but no one else. You have to use PTO for everything, even hoildays.

Transport overtime has started to decline the workload has grown but yet there are the same amount of people.
Depending on who trains you it's either really good or really poor.
They will let just about anybody train even if there not doing things right themselves.
There are no longer any breaks in between jobs making by the time you go home you felt like you ran a marathon.
The manager is nice as long as you do your job and stay out of drama.
The team leads are hit or miss when they work they worth otherwise there in the office sitting around doing a whole lot of nothing.
There are a lot of broken things like elevators making it so your job takes longer but yet if you go over the 15 minute task time you get dinged despite it being out of your control.
Overall good but could use a revision many outdated practices.

My experience at this workplace was generally positive in terms of the environment and the people I worked with. My manager was approachable and supportive, and my coworkers were friendly and helpful, which made it easy to feel comfortable on the job. The work environment was clean, organized, and well maintained, contributing to a safe and efficient workspace. The job duties themselves were straightforward and manageable, allowing me to complete tasks without feeling overwhelmed. However, despite these positive aspects, the compensation was a major drawback. The hourly pay was very low and did not feel reflective of the responsibilities or expectations associated with the position. While the work was not difficult, the pay made it challenging to view the role as a long-term opportunity. Overall, the experience provided a pleasant and low-stress work setting, but the low pay significantly impacted my overall satisfaction with the position.

A typical day at work here: log into your computer and answer incoming calls/make outgoing calls until your scheduled break that you had to strongly adhere to.  Incoming calls would come in through an ACD and they would come in one right after the other.  Callers on the phone were more often than not angry because they had to hold on so long to talk to someone and they knew they were not talking to someone in their primary care providers' office. 
Call metrics were shoved down your throat all day everyday. 
In center management was a like exclusive club that only certain people could get into.  Any given day, management would clown around and  be slack while others were slaving away answering calls waiting in the cue. 
There really isn't anything enjoyable working at a place that you're expected to sit down all day and only get up for your 3 allowed breaks.
